the B sides are massive difficulty spikes, the B side of level 1 is probably more difficult than the A side of the last level

if you enjoyed the first level you played I'd recommend going back to it and just leaving the b-sides for later. The main story has a very good gradual difficulty curve and never feels completely overwhelming

there's also a gold for beating 1-A without dashing which is pretty tough

I'm going back through and doing all B levels and getting all strawberries. B levels are mean stage 3 and onward. :( Don't even want to think about C levels..

C levels are all quite short so even though they're tough they don't feel absurd

I was raving about this game on CE a little back right when it came out, I'm pretty sure it's already locked in as game of the year for me

I definitely have problems playing violent games that have reached a certain level of realism. I'm not sure if I'd say this is ethics related since I don't really have a problem killing characters in games that aren't as realistic but it's sort of similar I suppose.

it's a great looking 2D game and it's definitely both more fun and longer than undertale (even considering all routes of undertale). I consider myself pretty good at platformers and it took me like 18 hours ish

the trick is that when you do money -> rocks -> pulls it's a lot less obvious how much you're spending than when it's money -> pulls

Yeah I'm using a map. While I enjoyed winging it for quest 1, some of the secrets are way too cryptic. I'm just going to arm myself to the teeth early on and then conquer the dungeons. I won't use a guide for those.

that's what I was going to suggest, use an overworld map but not a dungeon one. dungeons are a lot more self-contained and there's a lot less things to wander around trying endlessly while lost

the steam rule against uncensor patches is fairly recent iirc, I'm not sure how many sakura games have even been released since it happened

the only one I read was the very first, sakura spirit, since I just had to know what was up with it . turned out it was awful lol. I know someone who's read them all and makes very sarcastic reviews complete with tons of screenshots of broken grammar, misplaced words, typos, etc, so I feel like I've mostly experienced all they have to offer

Pinsir and Scyther are completely unable to damage the gastly evolution line, regardless of any TMs used (well, scyther can in Y with wing attack at level 50!!! lol)

I remember being super hyped to play it and the gradual trickle of info + speculation on the internet was probably the largest scale hype for an upcoming game that I've seen

I ended up getting mostly tired of it in like, a month? which was sorta disappointing. the co-op story mode is still super fun though

I'm pretty sure that's the intention of the accessory at least, but you can move it around and resize it enough that you can also do this <_<

I'm not totally sure what it's about since I don't know much about it, just had a few friends playing with the character editor so I decided to try it too. it's definitely school related though since you can choose what club they're in as well as have different outfits for school uniform / gym clothes / club uniform

yeah, from top to bottom it's:
6 sliders for general shape of head
8 sliders for chin and jawline
5 sliders for cheek and cheekbone
5 sliders for eyebrows
14 sliders for eye positioning / shape / eyelashes (eye colour, iris pattern, etc are in a different menu)
3 sliders for nose
6 sliders for mouth
5 sliders for ears

and that's just the view at a glance menu, since some (like eyes, eyebrows, mouth) have more details you can do in their individual menus

I always just get overwhelmed and pick the default, barring one or two sliders.

in this game I think your only options are to do that, to spend forever tweaking every single option, or to end up with abominations:

The real discriminator is the indie game scene, of which Japan is really desperately behind the rest of the world. AAA aside, when you've got games like Hollow Knight, Transistor, Shovel Knight, etc out there it really changes the landscape.

I dunno I've played some pretty cool japanese indie games

though I dunno if their game dev structure even works in the same sort of AAA / indie way

I don't think turn based and grinding inherently have any connection, though I will admit a lot of games with the first tend to also have the second

I like turn based battle systems because they emphasize planning and slow thought over execution and quick reflexes. Not to say all turn based systems are good just because they have that, but I don't think they're without their strong points

it's kinda funny you hate on french for this when pronouncing things in french is actually quite easy once you know a few rules of how letter combos work. french has a lot of annoying parts imo but being able to read a word and know how to say it is one of the parts it definitely gets right
