I was reading this blog post sort of thing earlier today about how to choose fitting free-use battle music for your rpgmaker games. like, what are the important things to focus on while looking because finding a song that fits everything you want is basically impossible. he divided battle themes into a few different categories, talked about each, had some examples... and I thought the examples lined up pretty well, but that might just be because I had read the category headers beforehand.

so if anyone has like 4-5 minutes to spare and listen to some jrpg battle bgm, I'm curious if you'd be able to match them up too:

I found it easiest to control loftwing by holding the remote entirely from the bottom instead of wrapping my hand around it. Like, steady it between thumb and pointer finger and rest it on the side of your hand

they're related, so makes sense. I think some of these have edible roots but giant hogweed, from a few searches, doesn't. even if it did you'd need like, full protective clothing just to harvest it lol

I got a small burn on my leg (probably about the size of a penny?) from a milder version of this a few years ago and it's super weird because it doesn't start hurting until a fair bit later and it makes it hard to tell exactly what happened and where the plant was

I also had the most fun with gen4, felt like it had the right mix of freedom to do weird stuff but also predictability to not just lose to weird things from the moment the game starts

as for TC: it's not like the farmers do this non-organic stuff just for fun. They do it because these sorts of things let them produce more food in less time/space/etc than they would otherwise. As population grows, we need more and more efficient methods of production which is why just saying something like "they didn't have it 1000 years ago we don't need it now" doesn't really work.

If you're particularly interested in organic food I definitely recommend starting up your own garden if possible, it doesn't need to be that big to provide a decent amount of food for a single person and you won't have to worry about all these chemicals and etc because they're not really necessary on a small scale

if I were to give explanations of how I use 10 point scale...

10 - kinda wish I could just replay these endlessly
9 - consistently good with great high points
8 - often good with great high points
7 - has some strong good parts but also has issues
6 - has issues but also has some strong good parts
5 - mostly unremarkable
4 - a slog to get through / requires forcing yourself
3 - would actively unrecommend
2 - no redeeming features really
1 - offensive it even exists

the only one I feel like I really have "reserved" for special cases is 1/10. That's the stuff that doesn't even try

Well, the 1-10 system does this too, since 3/5 = 6/10, 4/5 = 8/10, and 5/5 = 10/10. They're relly quite similar systems, I just prefer 1-10 because I like being able to give a little more granularity in scores than a 1-5 system allows. That's really my overall thoughts, I guess.

As for the other questions, I wouldn't say I want to be tricked into playing 3/5 games, but rather that I'll probably only play a 3/5 game if I'm tricked. And I'm nt sure tricked is the best word since it implies some sort of intentional effort (maybe malicious) to fool me, when the real reason is more just that it's hard to evaluate the quality of a game until it's too late

learning piano growing up, I always found bach stuff some of the most boring to play across the "big-name" composers. he's definitely written a lot of good pieces but all the stuff that I ended up playing was super structured to a mind-numbing degree. many of them feel like glorified finger exercises

his organ and ensemble compositions are much better imo. And also looking at like, visualizations of some of his fugues are very neat too

I agree with the sentiment here but not the result... I don't want to be playing 3/5 games because I'd rather spend that time playing 4/5 games or 5/5 games. Just because it's not bad doesn't mean it's good, and if I knew in advance that a game I was thinking of playing would end up being a 3/5 to me I'd probably skip it. Not because it's awful but because I have no doubt there are plenty of better games out there as long as I could manage to find them

I wouldn't intentionally play a 6/10 game or a 3/5 game (it still happens all the time thoguh since games suck)

numeric 1-10 is probably my favourite. 1-5 isn't enough spread, but 1-100 is way more precise than I want to bother with rating anything. Letters are just numbers in disguise. Tiers are alright except the freedom of naming them whatever you want means people will often have a bunch of joke name tiers and it will stop being a ranking and more of a categorization
