I'm really curious what sorts of ways you see people misuse "skill ceiling". Since I basically never see anyone use it, correctly or not

the momentum in mario 64 is part of what makes its movement so good. compare its walljumps to the extremely depressing ones in odyssey, or how nice it feels to chain longjumps compared to how they are in galaxy

I remember preordering SC2, because that gave you the beta key. I just played it for weeks with my friends before it actually came out, and then we all cancelled our preorders since we were done with the game lol

They do still appear in search, it's how I found a video to take that screenshot. Wouldn't be surprised if they're search de-prioritized, though. They also do still earn ad revenue, but probably not as much because many advertisers do not like to appear near that sort of content.

I agree they don't do a very good job seperating it. In theory, the uploader is supposed to mark their video as 18+ when uploading, there's a little section in the upload form for it. But it's easy to miss by accident and also you're incentivized not to do it since it basically only has negatives for you as an uploader. They have some sort of system trying to catch videos that are not marked by the uploader but just a few searches or a bit of browsing youtube show that it's not very effective

Youtube does have least some level of sensitive content age walling, though it's not applied to that many things. it's a prompt that says it contains suggestive content or whatever and asks if you're okay viewing it, and also requires you to be logged into an account to see it

xillia2 is one of the most disappointing and just generally all-around lame games I have ever played

I don't think I ever played mario party solo, that sounds like a sad time

my dad is the weirdest sneezer I know. first he swallows the sneeze entirely (this is quietish but you can hear it if you're really close) and then he just shouts a sound that's sorta halfway between "pew" and "poo" with basically no remnants of sneeze left in it at all

they have these weird script voiceovers that feel like they're AI generated too

if you're in a particularly fast moving field I can sort of imagine it, since stuff you learned 10-15 years ago may no longer be truly relevant and you could miss out on the normal knowledge someone who did the program at usual speed would

I feel like there's some misinterpretation of the interview here, it sounds way more to me like he's talking about changes made to kids shows that are specifically meant to be shown overseas, in which case I think all of these things are sort of reasonable?? but also I get the impression it's more talking about decisions made in th past rather than any sort of recent gotcha moment + he's not even really that interested in doing it so who knows how much influence it actually has

it might be the site itself closing, or just changing its url structure so old links don't work anymore

it might be a user who originally uploaded the content removing it, it might be removed as part of some moderation effort, it might be removed by a policy to clear out old/inactive content

or it might be other options that are not coming to mind for me right now. None of them are truly "random" but many are unpredictable enough that I don't think the distinction is very meaningful

I dunno about literally all flat out evil constantly, but in general I think the goals and aims of demons should be incompatible with those of humans on both an individual and a species-wide level. they might make deals / partnerships but those should essentially be seen as uneasy truces

Games should have a "Welcome Back!" mode where, no matter how far in the game you are, those text bubbles that usually pop up explaining the controls and mechanics during the tutorial come back for a bit if it's been more than a couple of months since you last played.

this would actually be pretty sweet, as long as there's some button to auto-skip all of them if you happen to remember well enough

edit: scrolling down basically just gets more of all of this. including the ads. It's super weird, if I scroll down until there's about 30 total articles displayed, approximately 10 of them are ads for the same company, that all have slightly different taglines and images

I guess this part is not really great either.

I just personally do not like the idea of specifically printing cards into eternal formats (this includes EDH). full stop. they are fun and interesting because they are an accumulation of cards over time that were not really supposed to be together, opening up space for interesting emergent synergies and whatnot. while they're targetted at entirely different sorts of players, both things like modern horizons and EDH precon sets bypass this entirely and are just super lame imo

To sort of elaborate on this: the most recent set, outlaws at thunder junction, has 80 rares/mythics. 41 of these are legendary. If you don't count lands (because there's always cycles of rare dual lands), there are 63 rare/mythic permanents total of which 41 are legendary. That's like two thirds. it's insane.

compare to, say, kaladesh, from late 2016 (I just picked an older set kinda at random). It has 72 rares, of which 53 are non-land permanents and only 15 of those (less than one third!) are legendary

This is definitely part of what I'm saying - they only have a finite amount of development and testing time, and more towards EDH means less for other formats and I don't think it's too much of a stretch to blame the poor reception of standard for a long time on this. it feels like a second-class citizen (and it is). But also the EDH-centric style has impacts on normal set design too. things like the absolute flood of board wipes and the massive number of legendary creatures are from printing to get cards into EDH, and I also feel like the power creep of standard is a result of trying to make things people will care about in larger formats (again, EDH)

I just planned out how I was gonna make my dialogue system and etc, but then the day before actually implementing anything I found a really good plugin for it while looking up something totally unrelated

it's because one is 3D and animated, while the other is static 2D pictures. I legit think this is like 90% of the reason
