I got it right before spring break and basically just played it nonstop for the entire week >_> And then when I got back to the dorms, we'd have like 6 people in a room taking turns at Brawl almost every single night.

I remember it being one of the hypest games. The non stop talk about the game, the fact people were going apeshit over each reveal. I remember how crazy the response was when Snake and Sonic were revealed. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt so excited for a game.

For me Brawl had its ups and downs....

I remember being upset over Zero Suit Samus being a transformation of Samus (although the trick to start as her made this concern non-existent) and the appearance of Pokemon Trainer. But I also remember the hype over Sonic (he broke GameFAQs!) and I enjoyed having Lucario in the cast.

Of all the memories I have, my favourite is the very last time I played it. It was August of 2014 (I know bc we played that game from the summer after launch until right before the 3DS version came out) and my nephew was going to be moving for work and so this was the last time me him and my cousin were going to play it before retiring the game. To cut to the chase, on the very last fight, my nephew was about to win.... but since we were on an old system.... he had sent me into the background but before I died, the game crashed.... LOL. I was crying from laughing

It's funny how hyped I was for that game, considering how disappointing it actually was. Years later, I took up competitive Smash 64 and never looked back.

I was put off with Brawl the first 3 weeks, and went back to Melee for all of my Smash needs.

I remember the night that came out. My roommate went to pick it up at midnight, during a snowstorm. I had preordered it on Amazon, which after 2 weeks never came, so I complained and they overnighted me a copy, and the original order came a day later. Gave the extra to my little brother.

What are you smoking? Brawl plays nothing like melee. There is a reason most people stayed with melee after that dissapointment brawl was. Brawl is shit. Melee is one of the best games ever.

The hype for the game was beyond hilarious. I knew it was going to be a good game, but everyone was expecting a set in stone GOAT on this site and there was no way to lower their expectations. Their fallout from it was some hilarious shit.

I never played it

I was a huge fan of 64 and Melee and I remember seeing the first preview for Brawl and thinking it looked really fun.

I was in college and poor though, and couldn't afford a Wii and eventually it just faded out of my memory.

Still haven't played a Smash game since Melee (aside from like 10 min. of the Wii U version)

i remember that i wasn't a fan of Smash at first (mainly because the dark looking art style), but as i played it, it started to grown on me so much, that i became so hyped for SSB4 (when it wasn't out yet), but then again Pokemon did the same to me later when i got S/M

My roommates and I played it pretty much nonstop from release until we stopping rooming together literally a year later.

We were like the most comprehensive trio of player personalities ever, too. I always played fair to a fault (I knew how to do chain throws but it was cheap so I would only do two or three in a row, and only if I was losing, etc).

Then one of the roommates was the total Han Solo type--knew nothing about the game technically but just by being lucky as hell managed to put up a fight anyway. He always went for the cheapest possible strategy. Kill stealing, Fox blaster spam, standing alone while the other roommate and I fought each other, etc.

The other roommate took the game waaaaaay too seriously and would get super mad when one of us would do something that's "not supposed to happen", like the time I managed to grapple him as he was zooming by during Fox's illusion, and the time I spiked him with Ike when he was already off the bottom of the screen.

I just about always won because I played the hell out of Melee before that. But we had so much fun. So so so much fun.

One time the angry guy and I played a one-stock match and I was Ike while he was Dedede. So I'm on one edge of the stage and charge up the side b and he thinks for like half a second and then holds b, lol. So I'm thinking as soon as I release, I'm gonna get eaten but I figure whatever live and learn and let go. But for some reason (I guess some fine point in the gameplay) I actually hit him, but instead of stopping at the edge like Ike usually does, I fly off the stage to my death. We both laughed about that one.

Another time, the cheater and I were playing on that windwaker stage and totall just decide to goof off. He decides to play one-handed while I just try to see what I can do for laughs. He was Pikachu while I was Fox. He kumps down onto the little rowboat or whatever that goes away in the storm, so I decide for laughs I'm gonna get us both killed and jump down there too and do fox's infinite kick move on him while the storm approaches. Now, he's trying to down B me so when the boat turns over it puts me above him for the down B. He dies and I get hit and knocked back up onto the ship, surviving it, lol.

Also one time the cheater and I were both playing Snake and he gets the smash ball. He jumps off the stage and comes down with the helicopter. I was at over 100% damage so I was dead and knew it. So I decide to just go out on a laugh and do the taunt (box). He sees what I did there, laughs and does the MGS "WHERE'D HE GO?" vocal while he starts pointing the reticle all over the place. Then the taunt ended and he does the ! sound and shoots me, lol.

So many other stories too. What a great game.

Its a much better game than Smash 4.

I remember being super hyped to play it and the gradual trickle of info + speculation on the internet was probably the largest scale hype for an upcoming game that I've seen

I ended up getting mostly tired of it in like, a month? which was sorta disappointing. the co-op story mode is still super fun though

Yeah, it was supposed to be a launch title, but then it go delayed until late 2007, then it got delayed AGAIN to early 2008 to put Sonic in iirc >_>

It was fun but didn't have the same amount as previous titles. It did introduce the supers though which was awesome, I did get tired of fox online though cause landmaster was pretty damn OP.

Not very hard to accomplish tbh

Blockbuster allowed me to rent it a couple days before it released. I was so excited and invited all the people I used to play melee with. We had fun for a while, but eventually went back to melee after a couple of games.

Sakurai quit giving a shit at that point.

They took out Mewtwo and put in fucking Lucario. I never played that abomination and never will. Skipped getting a Wii entirely because of it.

4 had the common sense to put Mewtwo back in :)

Lucario was pretty fun tho >_> He was my 2nd main with Lucas being my 1st main
