I was actually thinking the watame concert tickets were kinda cheap. well, I guess the online version feels expensive but as far as the in-person concert costs, especially when you consider her popularity

Jast is the translation company, not the original writers. the company name you're looking for is nitroplus. that said, I think jast is the only company that's translated nitroplus games(?? could be wrong here) and also even within a company there's multiple writers and directors and stuff so there's no guarantee something else from them will be too similar

I really like the presentation of the final choice and the scene leading up to it, it's so cool.

if you haven't yet, I recommend opening up the game again and idling on the title screen, which eventually plays the opening movie. also check out the gallery in the extras menu. well, and of course, if you didn't notice, look at the new title on the title screen :p

to a decent number of people, that purity / unattached / whatever image is like, part of the product these streamers are selling. so if that image is tarnished in some way it's not too strange that people would be disppoinated.

I just wish that if they decide they don't like the streamer anymore they'd leave in silence instead of throwing fits

near the beginning of it, it seemed like a super taboo topic in jp hololive and they basically continued to act like everything was normal (well, japan also reacted very slowly to it lol). The only big change I remember is korone changing her stream tag (it's still changed too, maybe she just thought the new one was funny) because her name was too similar to corona and it was causing issues. Like, the whole thing was unmentioned to the point that I'm pretty sure there was a rule against alluding to it at all from management or something

as it became pretty clear though that it wasn't going away any time soon though, there have been more mentions of it by a lot of them

I don't remember the plot very well anymore but it's this cyberpunk setting where there's a VRMMO second-life esque thing that's extremely true to real life, to the point of the cities being exactly the same and stuff, powered by an extremely powerful AI that can simulate peoples' personalities while they're not actually logged in playing, and some of the routes push really hard on this part of the setting with respect to stuff like "what is consciousness" and "where is the border between reality and fiction", etc etc

I remember enjoying it a lot but opinions on it are extremely mixed and it seems like 3rd or 4th person I know thinks it's absolutely the worst thing ever. It's definitely pretty unique at the least, I don't think I've ever experienced a story in any medium with the same brand of craziness as I/O. For example (spoilers of some sort I guess) at least one route takes place entirely in cyberspace (with no real indication for sure but you sort of infer it) and atleast one route is told in completely chronologially reverse order

Having lots of abilities in the start but then losing them would be bad design. It would both overwhelm new players and annoy people who learned to use them.

I'd contemplated this sort of thing before and thought it would work well if you start without many abilties, gain more and more dduring the first half of the game, and then lose them gradually in the second half. especially cool if you lose them in a different order thna you gained them so you have different combinations of abilities going each direction

have you heard of asheron's call? it had probably the coolest magic system I've ever heard of for an MMO

you can basically cast any spell as long as you know the magic formula for it. as in, you the player, not you the character. problem is most of these formulae are not really mentioned anywhere and you have to discover them through trial and error, which gives you that wizard researching/inventing spells to become stronger feel. and to prevent people from just sharing it around, spells became weaker if more people were using them so everyone basically has their own treasure hoard of magic knowledge they probably only share with close friends

Matsuri is teaming with Kotone, I think this VTuber that I saw an MV for at one point

I tend to think of her more as a singer than a VTuber, she's got a ton of covers of songs, a few originals, an album, and I'm pretty sure is attached to a record label of some sort (ok I looked it up, it's Universal Music) she used to stream apex every so often but not that much any more. most of her streams are unarchived too, or had the archives deleted later (rip mario sunshine playthrough I was only half through watching). most of her streams nowadays are karaoke streams, or chill chatting while doing random misc stuff in animal crossing.

she's very good friends with matsuri, she was talking about this apex team a little on a stream earlier and said that she doesn't really play apex with that sort of serious attitude and when matsuri invited her for some apex event she would have turned it down if it was anyone else asking. But instead she decided to join, thinking it was just some small thing, and then learned it was an actual serious tournament and is currently somewhat spooked lol

I liked the silent realm and the underwater music note collecting a lot

the comment about flying is a pretty funny one though, I've seen a few people streaming the remake since it just came out and struggling a lot with the flying near the very start of the story (where you have to compete with groose and crew to chase the bird). they spend a really long time on it since they can't control it well, and when they finally win they say "well I suck at this, it was just the tutorial and it was that difficult"

jokes on them, that "tutorial" is probably the most complex flying the game ever asks of you lol

I remember reading something like the cost of the player character model and etc for 3D games nowadays being more than the entire development cost of most NES/SNES era games, though I have no idea how to verify this

also I think your staff count on older games is a little off, it's not quite that low but it's definitely lower than nowadays. but also it's not like output scales directly with team size; a 50 person team is not 50x as productive as a 1 person team because of effort wasted in organizational overhead
