There are tens of millions of us that swore the same oath and if there comes a day when you stand as a threat we will fall upon you like wolves and tear you to pieces.

This isn't me threatening I just get the fact that for kids that are from families the immigrated recently or maybe from families where their parents and grandparents were too disabled to serve they may not realize. There are literally tens of millions of people like me.

We have all been indoctrinated to kill you. Its true. And we will pull that trigger. It isn't even something we chose. Its generations of programming. You just have to realize the consequences. More of them died than lived for a few tens of thousands years is the basic answer.

Wars probably happened but you have to realize that the period between when humans encountered them for the first time and their end was many times longer than the recorded history of humanity. It wasn't one big war. It wasn't something that the great great great great great great great grandsons of the first humans that encountered them would have remembered when they finally went extinct. They died out because we, as a species were better at surviving.

How is this bait. Everyone dies. Everyone in this topic, everyone on this board, everyone in this world. You are talking about altering the constitution to try and combat something rare enough that it will not significantly alter the life expectancy of anyone.

What is the point of freaking out about events that have a low likely-hood of ever occurring. I'll give you an anectdote. I was on a base in Iraq and my bunkmate was pissing his pants because mortar alarms were sounding. I explained it to him. Are you afraid of being hit by a semi truck driver swerving into you from opposite lane on the highway and smooshing you in your car or a vehicle jumping the curb and smooshing you while you walk on a sidewalk? Are you afraid of getting terminal cancer? Are you afraid of a bolt of lightning striking you in every storm? Are you afraid a meteor will strike the earth and kill us all at any given moment?

If you think about the possible things that could kill any given person whether it be mortars landing directly on your face or a mass shooting killing you are basically the equivalent of pissing your pants at the idea of walking outside in a storm.

Man up.

These types of mass shootings have killed hundreds of people out of the hundreds of millions of us that have been alive during the time period in which they happened and 100% of are going to die anyways of something so conceivably we could do absolutely nothing and the life expectancy would barely change at all for the general population.

Or we could freak the fuck out and weep and shriek and act like the sky is falling down.

I was in college from age 25 to 29.

I was/am a bit socially awkward. I had an alright time in college, made some friends, got a high GPA, but I do wish I had gotten out and partied a bit more while I was there. You have to put yourself out there. I know it sounds lame but join some clubs or something.

When I was in college I hung out on campus a lot in an area that was specifically for Computer Science students on campus (went to CU boulder so it was a very large program). I made friends there including group mates from projects but when I left school I would basically just head straight back to my apartment and go into a comfort zone. I went out drinking a few times with friends but it was a once or twice a semester thing. I drove back home a lot of weekends which didn't help much for making me a social animal.

I had a good time in college and I got a good degree but I do feel like I missed out on some of the social elements.

Good.

In units that were getting ready to deploy there is always a period where the unit has to transfer out the non-deployable people (mostly people on medical profiles) while transferring people in from other units to hit the magic number of people that they need to actually be at full strength for their deployment.

The issue that Mattis is trying to address is that once these non-deployable people get transferred out they land in units where their non-deployable status may go unnoticed. And then when that unit finally ends up deploying they suddenly realize they have a lot of non-deployable people they need to lose immediately so they transfer out the people who can't deploy including some of the same guys and girls that missed the last deployment.

It may seem heartless to kick a guy or girl out of a unit just because they are non-deployable but just keeping them on for sentimental reasons is a massive waste of resources.

If a job can be done by someone that is non-deployable then it really should be done by a civilian in the first place.

If you legalize it, you can regulate to improve quality/consistency and treat the addictions more easily.

Lots of overdoses are caused by the user getting a drug that is more pure than they're used to, and using the same dosage that they were using before.

The other thing is that addicts won't get help because they know they'll be targeted by the law for doing so. If you pay attention, safe drug injection sites actually help to reduce overdosing and often lead to users being able to get help fighting the addiction.

This isn't really a right or left issue guys.

Americans on EBT are fatter than Americans that aren't which makes them some of the fattest human beings to ever have existed in the entire history of the species. That is a fact that people on the left and right acknowledge.

So what do you do about it?

The Obama administration's talking points were that we need to make sure everyone has access to a wider range of foods than what you would find at your local 7/11. Basically access to fresh fruits and veggies. But like the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. The evidence is iffy on whether or not just offering people fresh food as an option will do anything to reduce the obesity level so the other front to attack on is education.

Kids that are taught to pay attention to calorie counts on the food they eat and basically conditioned to eat non-junk food foods will be more likely to continue to care when the grow up.

This "food stamps only work for these foods" approach is a bit heavy handed. I think a compromise would be rolling it out in a few areas and studying whether or not it makes the people forced into a diet healthier.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inner_German_border

You have to understand two key things.

1. The actual border between West and East Germany had landmines, barbed wire, and was basically treated as a militarized border between two competing superpowers.

2. Berlin was deep inside East Germany- At the end of WW2 the allied powers in Europe (US, UK, France, USSR (Russia)) divided up Europe, Germany, and Berlin because it was the capital. The tricky thing was that Berlin was pretty far inside the Soviet zone but it was still divided up.

As long as Berlin didn't have a wall people could literally just walk to the capitalist west from the communist east. The US was powerful enough to tell the East Germans and Soviets to eat shit if they tried to check the papers of people going in and out of West Berlin once they got there and there was a red line established basically creating this weird western zone inside of East Germany.

So the Commies built a wall through the center of the city, surrounded it with barbed wire and shot anyone trying to cross over.

What don't you like about it?

Gameplay is barebones and unrewarding with shooting mechanics that feel like an early 2000s title, level design is incredibly linear and formulaic, and completely lacking in the attention to detail that makes linear game design truly shine. A borderline genocidal ethno-state is also an EXTREMELY poor setting for the "both sides are just as bad!" narrative, and the entire plot is a hamfisted slapped together mess.

I liked it. I highly recommend playing on hard difficulty. Forces you to actually use your powers to get an edge while normal just feels like straight up Call of Duty because you can run forward and catch bullets with your face and still achieve victory. As for the plot? The setting was based on US history and race was a huge thing around the turn of the century (19th to 20th) in America.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadir_of_American_race_relations

As for "same thing both sides" ....... the early 20th century was absurdly brutal. The revolution you see in infinite reminded me of the Russian Revolution. Millions died. The royal family, men women and children, along with countless other were murdered and the government that replaced the old Russian Empire was as bad or worse than the reds that won the war.

Not sure I'm the first person to bring this up but........ the Trojan War is to a certain extent a myth. Characters like Achilles and Odysseus may not have even existed and even if people by those names did take part a war between Greeks and Trojans their involvement almost certainly was radically different than the Iliad portrays.

That being said.... I'll agree that I've always found it a bit weird to see characters be randomly black or Asian in fantasy settings and no one ever brings it up. It seems to be a roll of the dice how it is handled. In some settings there is a land of black people in the fantasy world where black people came/come from (Elder Scrolls, Game of Thrones) in others black people are just there randomly.

I think it's poor form to just post article links without referencing what in them you are talking about, so I'll just answer your question directly: ISIS' former magazine series Dabiq (every issue of which I've read), a plethora of Tweets from Daesh fighters accosting Hamas for supporting nationalism (can't post these because Twitter started banning the accounts in 2015), and practically every pamphlet they've issued and interview they've given where they decry the notion of man-made countries.

If you don't know they're anti-nationalist then you don't know about the very basics of ISIS. I'm at work right now but when I'm home I'd be happy to get some direct quotes for you.

I get that they are anti-nationalist but that doesn't mean that they hate Palestinians any more than Europeans that want a fully integrated "United States of Europe" hate the French or the Dutch.

Those articles basically describe that ISIS sees Palestine as a recruiting ground and that they use the Palestinian Israeli conflict and the feelings of anger that it engenders across the Muslim world as an issue to get people fired about about so that they join up.
