The guns are already here. There are millions of them.

Banning guns and gun sales is not a solution. Anyone who wishes to commit a heinous act with a gun would still be able to get one.

We need another solution that would solve the issue. Banning firearms is a buzzword

stop being so short sighted. Even if there is no short term solution, tighter regulations or whatever will eventually cause the amount of guns in circulation drop. They can break, you can find a variety of ways to make demand for guns decrease.

Even if it takes decades...eventually you might solve the problem. Changing Americas crazy ass gun culture can't happen from one day to the next. But every generation of children that doesn't grow up believing that guns are toys that can be bought at Walmart, will be a generation of kids that won't be as interested in having a gun. Which will in turn lead to less guns in circulation...it will just take time.

The problem is schools are soft targets. We protect crap like our money, prisoners, and politicians with guns and protect our children with gun free zones.

People who want guns banned (knowing this will never happen or be practical) are ok with mass casualties every few months so they can jump up and yell ban guns some more. Because they dont want to support a measure that would actually work.

Yeah, we'll just get rid of every legally owned gun from every law abiding citizen. Then only criminals and cops will have guns. And if someone breaks into your home with a gun, just call the cops. They'll use their teleporter to get there instantly.

You must think everyone lives in New York or Los Angeles. Most gun owners are people who live in rural states where hunting is a past time. You will never deter gun culture because every generation will be exposed to firearms through hunting. The problem isnt access to firearms, its violence in general. And people growing ignorant of firearms only makes the problem worse, not better.

gun restriction is a solution. just not one with an immediate benefit. thats not a valid reason not to put restrictions in place today so that you can have a better tomorrow.

Like what kind of restrictions? What law that isnt already on the books can you come up with? I can tell no law would have stopped this shooting.

Do you actually believe some people don't mind children dying senselessly just to further their political agenda?
Everyone is after the same thing, safety for everyone. The fact that you believe that members of the opposing party don't care as much about this problem than you do, is the reason why Americs' political system has such a hard time finding common ground and uniting its people. Noone can agree on everything, and if we want things fixed, we have to put pride aside and work together as a nation with similar interests in mind: safety, freedom, peace and prosperity.

I mean, in this case you could restrict gun sales to people 21 and older to prevent him from buying the gun

Not saying I would actually support that but that was a trivially easy thing to think of -- it is already the law some places in the US

I suggest moving in a 1st World country then, where criminals don't break into your house with guns, and where the police services are efficient, should their presence be required.

you guys just need to bite the bullet (sorry) and get started on some regulations. Some people are going to go ballistic whenever you try it so someone should just accept the unpopularity. at least try. look like someone is trying. heck, keep on with thoughts and prayers as long as you do actual tangible things as well

Did he purchase the gun? Plenty of 18 year olds are wholly competent with firearms.

the drugs are already there. making them illegal doesn't help. druggies who want drugs can still get drugs.

better to make it unappealing. make heroine a part of school lunch meals. make cocain available at every supermarket checkout.

Uh, the problem isn't guns. The problem is teenagers wanting to kill their classmates.

Maybe let's focus on fixing that first, huh?
