I get that you feel that public toilet seats are gross and I think we can all agree that they are but the bigger point is that you aren't going to catch anything by using them. The difference between you and the person that doesn't use the seat covers at all isn't that you are less likely to get an illness its that you are a germaphobe whose definition of "clean" forces you to put that seat cover down even when it isn't needed.

Educate yourself. Toilet seat covers are a placebo. They don't actually do anything but make some people that don't know that they don't work feel better. If you are actually concerned about germs on the toilet seat you are much better off whiping the seat down with an alcohol whipe before you sit on it than putting an absorbant sheet of paper over it.

Yes I would rather have that stuff than be homeless and starving. However, in a communist system, nothing says that having that stuff is the limit of existence. You can have the luxuries you want to have.

You can have the luxuries the state deems are appropriate.

The 19 year old laundry specialist with 2 kids that has a house, food, and healthcare provided for themselves and their family by the Army is getting a great deal.

But flip side of that are the people doing vastly more skilled jobs than laundry specialist that are living in a tiny barracks room with no kitchen and a roommate.

If you are a below average person with above average needs then communism is the system for you.

I disagree. In a way I've lived the "to each according to their needs from each according to their abilities" life when I was enlisted in the Army.

I got "free housing" in a small room I didn't choose with a roommate I didn't choose. I got "free food" in the form of a meal card that could only be used in on base dining facilities that sucked.

When food and housing becomes a "gift" that is given to you rather than something you pay for then you end up losing the freedom to choose the form that gift takes.

Do you want to live in a 1 bedroom apartment and spend money on vacations or do you want to buy a house and have less cash for traveling but have more space.

Not your call if someone else is making the choice for you.

I already have all of those things. One problem with this system is that it treats things like housing and food as a gift from the state rather than as something that you earned for yourself.

This isn't George Floyd. A 5 year old could look at the situation and think of a reasonable explanation for a cop shooting a civilian with a gun standing over two people who had been shot dead.

One thing I like to do when I analyze situations like this is look at it from both sides. The guy that was shot by the cop that ended up as the third guy killed by gunfire in this mess was probably also in hyper adrenaline mode and its possible he didn't drop or holster his gun and he didn't realize that having it made him look like he was the one that shot both the people on the ground.

The cop would not have shot a guy for shooting a literal cop killer if he knew that is what happened.

This whole situation is horrible but you have to realize the cop shot the guy because he thought he was looking at a person that was a mass shooter standing over two dead bodies.

Step back. Cool down. Pretend your an adult with an IQ above 100 and actually think about why a cop coming upon that situation would feel pull their gun out and make this sort of mistake even if they aren't some sociopath that you imagine them to be.

It sucks but realize that they came upon a civilian with a firearm standing over a dead cop and another dead civilian. If they had known he was the guy that killed the guy that killed a cop they would have given him a medal but they didn't and they reacted out of fear and stress because he was literally armed and standing over a couple dead people including a cop.

I kind of get the point she is trying to make.

I started as a kid with under the bed smuggled away victoria secret catalogs to be honest. That was probably vastly better from a mental health perspective than the stuff that kids these days have access to.

The Switch is over 4 years old now, so yea the hardware's gonna be dated.

But it has, like, 20 first party titles that each could be a system seller.

The specs on it are closer to the Xbox 360 (2005) than the PS5.

With the Wii they basically decided they couldn't keep up with the ramping up development costs of the next gen games so they made a conscious decision to go a different way.

Two gens at this point. Though its more excusable now that the Switch is basically a gameboy. This actually really put me off when they made the decision back in the Wii era. They basically just gave up on keeping up hardware wise.

It's at harmful addiction levels when it interferes with your life and work. People that smoke weed in the car and then go to work stoned or people that smoke weed and then get in car accidents because they "just needed it to deal with the stress" are who I'm thinking about.

This is basically the response to "can you over engineer a piece of clothing". Shorts don't take up that much space, pants with a 360 zipper on the legs introduce a massive point of failure that didn't exist until you made this silly ass short/pants frankenstein.

You exchange a miniscule a small amount of space in your backpack for a less comfortable version of shorts/pants that also has a significant chance of you cussing out your own pants because the zipper got caught on itself as you are trying to make this "magical" transition between pants and shorts.

My grandmother that was in a nursing home and my severely autistic institutionalized uncle got covid last year (he got it first, she got it a few months later). She died and he lived. It was incredibly tough for my Dad to deal with in particular. He had to deal with Pennsylvania's quarantine policies for people coming in from out of state and she passed away while he was waiting for his flight. He wasn't allowed to see his brother either while he was sick. With my Grandmother they gave her morphine and they had a video chat with my Dad and they did a video chat where a priest gave her last rights.

Neither of them fully understood what happening to them they just knew that they were in pain.

It enrages me that some employees at these care facilities are choosing to go unvaccinated.

This was my elementary school. Indian Ridge Elementary School. As a kid we were told that it was named after a nearby ridge that was named that originally because there were Indians (native Americans) that lived around it. I think the ridge was flattened by development over the years or something because it isn't there anymore but the school is.

It depends on the degree and the school.

I did Comp Sci at cu boulder and I'd say the curriculum was a bit bloated in terms of requirements to graduate but it did get me a job as a software developer.

I grew up in the Denver metro and its weird to think of how close big cities are outside of this area.

We have 3 million people in the metro area and the next closest city with over a million in the metro area is Omaha about 500 miles away.

In Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy you could pump up the dismemberment level on the PC from 1 to 4 with 4 being that you didn't even to have to swing the lightsaber for guys to fall apart as you ran around with the saber out. The one downside was that when you encountered enemies with lightsabers it worked the same way.

Probably already been said but weight/inventory management. Whenever I can I mod it out of the RPGs I play on the PC.

The only games I feel like its justified are survival games that have you making supply runs for goods like State of Decay. Otherwise its just bullshit and if I'm playing on the PC its gone because I mod it to death.

Honestly if you want to know what mechanics suck about a game look at what mechanics people go out of their way to mod out regularly on the PC for that game.
