Its uppers and downers for the common man basically. You drink coffee/energy drinks when you wake up and go to work you drink beer when you get home from work. Rinse and repeat.

People act like coffee isn't a drug. Tag along with a friend to a narcotics anonymous meeting. There are usually 3 coffee pots there. As someone that has never had an actual addiction, I was full of questions. They didn't like them.

"Okay you guys keep saying you don't believe in substituting one drug for another but....what are you supposed to call it when ONE PERSON drinks three pots of coffee to his or herself?"

"Whoa whoa whoa gonna have to cut you off there. We LIKE coffee here."

Total fucking avoidance.

I get that and realize that caffeine is a drug but how lets step back for a second here. Lets say you stop a meeting of hardcore drunkards and narcotics addicts and say "hey yall. The real problem is coffee and redbulls". And then you are feeling good about finally letting out your true feelings and someone slips in behind you and chops your head off with a sharp knife and drives around with your head staped to the hood of their car with a message on the top of the car saying "this is the face of caffeine addiction."

Obviously it isn't anywhere near as severe as the powder drugs and shit like that, but them sitting there drinking coffee until they're wired out while preaching against getting fucked up is still funny to me.
