A startling 50% of migrants streaming into the Big Apple are not vaccinated against the contagious and potentially deadly poliovirus, city Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan recently revealed as he urged doctors to help prevent a public health emergency, The Post has learned.

Vasan also said the new migrants come from, or pass through, countries with high rates of infectious tuberculosis and noted thereve been outbreaks of chickenpox in shelters housing the newcomers.

More than 50,000 people have come to New York City (NYC) in the past year shortly after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. As more people arrive and many make NYC their home, the scale and scope of need continues to grow, Vasan said in an eight-page letter, dated April 11, sent to physicians and other health care providers. A copy was obtained by The Post.


I am writing now to underscore how critical it is that health care providers take a wide range of considerations into account when working with people who are seeking asylum The scope of this letter represents the scale of the need. It is incumbent upon us as a welcoming city to comprehensively evaluate and meet these needs.


Vasan said screening and vaccinating migrants for diseases and viruses thatve been kept in check in the city is a top priority.
Vaccination rates for certain diseases are low in some of the most common countries of origin, with rates hovering around 50% for polio as an example, the commissioner said.

I'm glad I finally buckled down and caught up with the manga after years of putting it off. The most recent ~50 chapters or so have been insane. I never thought I'd see the day where the veil was lifted from the world government and we got to see what their "power levels" are. It feels surreal, but it's pretty awesome.

Yeah my favorite parts of the manga were always the few in between chapters where we got to see the activities going on w/ all the other characters and happenings around the world before hunkering down for another two years on an island w/ the Straw Hats, and this whole Egg Head Island arc has been a great change of pace w/ constants cuts between all the other big events around the world

So like... is Blackbeard just being written out of the series? The dude was being set up as the main antagonist and now in the 0th hour here comes a whole new host of unbelievably powerful guys apparently so strong the entire world government caves to their every demand. The same WG that is apparently comfortable with putting a bounty on Blackbeard, so they're clearly not as afraid of him as they are of the gorosei.

It's a shame, because One Piece has always done such a good job of having the villains "level up" right alongside the heroes up until a point, and then I guess Oda got bored of Smoker, Teach, etc and decided to just replace them as a threat with some new, more powerful than everyone out of nowhere, villains.

Blackbeard and his pirates have been featured very heavily throughout the arc w/ all the stuff they are doing, I think he will still be the ultimate bad. He is being set up as like the anti Luffy.

We have known for a while now that all the Gorosei and Imu had devil fruit powers, ever since Sabo told the story about how he escaped them. Which this makes Sabo's escape even more impressive...

Given Saturn's reaction to seeing Gear 5 Luffy, I like the theory that the Gorosei and Imu are immortal, and have been around since the Void Century 800 years ago. Also we don't really know how powerful the Gorosei are, clearly they keep the best devil fruits for themselves, but they could still just be around Admiral and Yonko level. Not sure I would like it if all the Gorosei, the Holy Knights, and Imu were all at some tier above Yonko, and could have crushed them at any time.

I haven't read the 6 new Thrawn books but in the original Heir to the Empire trilogy, Thrawn wasn't really that overwhelming of a force either. Luke/Han/Leia thwart him quite a few times throughout the trilogy, and he ultimately goes down in a pretty meh way.

He's an interesting and different type of villain (especially compared to the classic Emperor Palps) and a fan favorite, but I don't know why the fanbase seems to think he is some absolute unbeatable 4D chess master

Looks like it started from a dispute between 2 different groups outside of the dorms, multiple guns were used, and all the victims were bystanders not targets. They think at least 3 of the suspects are armed.

Ah I see, yeah Falco always requires a combo starter to get anything good w/ idj and all the combo moves send directly above making it super easy. Running around and sharking w/ IDJ knee combos seems really valuable for Falcon

Does the buffer system not work for Falcon on IDJ combos? I have never tried, but with Falco I just time the first jump when uptilt or upthrow is about to end, then hit jump+attack right after the attack ends to get them, no need for a second jump button or tap jump. The timing is really generous for Falco though, dont need to be frame perfect for the combo to work.

At this point it feels like the people who are so rabidly against gun control are either just plugging there ears everytime there's a mass shooting, or they genuinely don't care.

Looks like the shooting took place in the dorms, and guns are already banned from being in dormitories at Morgan State

Kind of a meh season finale, none of the mysteries got resolved, overall this whole show just seemed like filler. Like we could have just had the season start with Thrawn returning with an undead army and Ezra a stowaway on his ship, then have a plot for the season that actually means something.

Morgan vs Ahsoka was really good, but all the other action scenes were just laughable unfortunately. They were just fighting faceless storm troopers, but still it looked pretty bad.

Not sure what the future holds for this era, Ahsoka didnt really light up the fan base, and do we really need a second season of Ahsoka and Sabine trying to get home? And there is pretty much 0% chance we get the Rey movie. Even Filonis movie is improbable at this point.

Maybe they should just hop straight into a brand new show with Thrawn threatening the Galaxy and Han/Luke/Leia are the main characters. Not really sure what else Disney can do to get the fan base back

There will be a lot less shows and less writers working, so hopefully they keep the good ones and focus on quality.

Either way, Ezra is a hypocrite. He happily picked up that blaster when he needed an extra edge during the fight. I don't blame him too much though. Even Obi-Wan dropped the act when he needed to survive.

I havent watched Rebels but I have heard from some Rebels fans that this is just classic Ezra. Like a good natured dude who is a bit naive and overestimates his abilities by jumping into a fight saying he doesnt need a weapon, then ends up getting overwhelmed and has to grab a blaster

Ugh, I'm trying to find exact numbers but it's proving to be quite the pain in the ass. I have found ones for fracture rates and a couple other things that mention Trans women and cis women being similar but not the numbers or the article that made me say that to begin with.

Let's just assume it's not true for the sake of this and move on. It's not actually relevant and I didn't include it in the evidentiary section of my analysis. If I find it I'll shoot it to you but I can't spend more time ATM to look for it.

Pretty sure that article is only comparing bone density on cis men vs. trans women and cis women vs. trans men, and saying cis men > trans women, trans men > cis women. I didn't find any comparison for trans women vs. cis women, or the raw data, unless I am just misreading it

Also let's not forget that A New Hope wasn't exactly providing a whole lot of context for anything and just expected you to go with it.

This isn't really a fair comparison, A New Hope was full of very basic characters so the audience could grasp right away what everyone was: Luke = poor farming kid who wanted adventure, Obi-Wan = wise mentor, etc. It was also the first time most of the characters met each other.

Ahsoka/Sabine/Hera/Ezra/Thrawn are all established characters with a bunch of history and character development together.

I like the suggestion of adding a character who is new to the group as an audience stand in to explain these relationships, would have helped a lot.

Probably my favorite episode so far. Finally these last two episodes we have some plot movement. I never watched Rebels but Ezra seems cool, and him/Sabine are a lot better to watch together than just Sabine alone. Also I like the happier Ahsoka we have now, although not sure why she is struggling so much against Balon isnt she supposed to be a big badass w/ Anakin as her master?

Its not incredible, but this episode was just good Star Wars fun, Im really looking forward to the next one. Just wish the series got to this point faster
