Loving this show so far. Thrawn was great in live action. Lars, like his brother Mads, is a great actor.

The Ahsoka and Ezra hug was great. Ezra's just a breath of fresh air.

Probably my favorite episode so far. Finally these last two episodes we have some plot movement. I never watched Rebels but Ezra seems cool, and him/Sabine are a lot better to watch together than just Sabine alone. Also I like the happier Ahsoka we have now, although not sure why she is struggling so much against Balon isnt she supposed to be a big badass w/ Anakin as her master?

Its not incredible, but this episode was just good Star Wars fun, Im really looking forward to the next one. Just wish the series got to this point faster

Expected Ezra to get stabbed in the back by Baylan in the last moments of the episode with that freaking anime death flag

If you're talking about Baylon his actor died months ago. Any appearances of him beyond this season will need a recast

I mean literally nobody in this show except Hera is even mentioned in those movies (at least I think the Ghost appears at the end of 9), I don't think they're all gonna die

I'm only started this show now because I wanted to watch Rebels first and holy shit it's blowing my mind how much this is a direct follow up to a cartoon.

Suddenly transitioning to live action Lothal is trippy.

I know people like to give Disney shit but gotta give them credit that they're giving Filoni an opportunity like this to continue the loose threads. This must be crazy for the people who waited years to find out what happened to Ezra and Thrawn.

Not sure if I can think of anything else like this. Usually spin off cartoons barely matter to anything.

thought it was weird when sabine said to grab her and ezra just blindly charged in and got force pushed away. was hoping that ezra would also be a bit better, since i would hope he would have tried to take on thrawn a few times instead of just wandering around protecting the trailer people from bandits

wonder if they're going to get stranded in the new galaxy somehow to explain where they were. like "oh we need to fix the hyperspace ring, this might take just enough time to not break canon"

The ghost also appeared in the battle above scariff. Also does anyone else think this "great power" that baylan mentioned could be the valley of the Jedi? Just a random thought I had. Probably going to be way off.

To be honest I'd thought we'd get to it in this episode. I'm kinda concerned we're not because I don't expect Baylan to survive this season.

That said I see no reason for the Valley of the Jedi to be in a place that the Jedi themselves are very largely unaware of.

If it's an EU related thing I'd be down with it being Abeloth

However my preference would be for an original character/concept

I think its annoying, they tried to pass this off as a separate show but you had to have watched 5 seasons of a childrens cartoon to have any investment in the characters

as the standalone story it bills itself as, its not doing a very good job making you care

i will say the past couple episodes were more thrilling but it still definitely feels like season six of a show I never watched

Ezra was never especially strong. Just a kid with force potential taken on by a Padawan who stopped being a Jedi for over a decade. He was always serviceable but also never really felt like he had the upper-hand in any saber duel.

And anything he learned over the last decade would be pretty self-taught.

With all that being said he clearly was holding his own with Shin despite being completely unarmed. There was a zero percent chance she was beating him and Sabine without the trooper support.

Digging the show. Please have a decent ending, cliffhanger is expected.

-Sabine is unlikeable
-Ahsoka isnt that much better (but is better)
-ezra is well cast and fun
-Shin is cool but I hope she isnt given a redemption or anything
-Balon is the highlight but I do want to know what hes after. Also I fear his storyline wont be resolved and with the actor gone, its tougher especially with how well he is played
-Thrawn is awesome
-The lightsaber duels are the best of the disney era
-Music is really good
-Visually its good but not great. Hard to explain but it seems like every one is really close and stiff. Andor looked better
-Andor had better space battle sections

Overall uts tracking with andor for me. Last episode will determine where it lands but has potential for best disney era star wars

Friend of mine at work has told me he's going through TCW and Reb just so he can know what's going on.

I feel like the series could have used an audience perspective character if nothing else. Like Captain Teva, just getting filled in on what was going on.

It's not impossible to have something that benefits from watching previous stuff but still stands on its own. Avengers managed well enough.

Sabine, ezra, hera,huyang, chopper= ahsokas squad post episode 3 that did cool stuff that also didnt impact the main movies
Jace=son of a jedi
Ezra=jedi post order 66
Thrawn=high ranking admiral of the empire who was banished to another galaxy by space whales

For every "Im not watching cartoons, they dont/barely tie into the main stuff", theres a "o wtf, why are they tying main stuff to cartoons"

There's also the fact the main character is from a cartoon and we knew for months they had cast Rebel characters too. So nobody should be shocked it ties into those two series as much as it does.

The best thing about this show is the Sabine/Shin rivalry. I love watching those two go at it and hope it continues.

I mean, I get whats going on, but they dont do enough in this show to lay the groundwork for you caring about the characters, their relationships and motivations, etc

So much of it is designed around people saying oh shit its that character I remember that guy! and not enough set up for the people who arent in it for the cameos and returning characters

There's almost no way she doesn't get redeemed. The way she acts is more like a confused kid than anything. The scene of Ahsoka offering to help her is the latest in a series of clues that Shin won't be evil forever.

This isn't really a fair comparison, A New Hope was full of very basic characters so the audience could grasp right away what everyone was: Luke = poor farming kid who wanted adventure, Obi-Wan = wise mentor, etc. It was also the first time most of the characters met each other.

Ahsoka/Sabine/Hera/Ezra/Thrawn are all established characters with a bunch of history and character development together.

I like the suggestion of adding a character who is new to the group as an audience stand in to explain these relationships, would have helped a lot.

It's been said elsewhere ITT, but the show was advertised and marketed for months with the knowledge that these were existing characters continuing an established story

Like yeah maybe they could be more inclusive to those who did not view TCW/Rebels but it's kinda a case of buyer beware lol

I feel one of the biggest questions that could have been better explained in the narrative was "Why is Ezra so important to risk the return of Thrawn?"

I think the most we got is Sabine looking at Ezra's hologram, which I will grant you is something, but I feel it's not really sufficient.

Like I KNOW why, because I watched Rebels.

Ezra is just a macguffin in this show and the big reunion fell flat for that reason

Just wanna chime in that all the trailers and marketing Ive seen have very clearly highlighted that this is a continuation of an existing story, even if you are unaware of what story it exactly is.

The fact that I have seen Rebels ofc helps me but if pretending to have fresh eyes, trailers talking about past events and the state of relationships between characters like this without introducing them signal that this is the continuation of something.

Given the amount of problems the stories for those movies had, explaining why Ahsoka & Co. were not involved would only be adding fuel to the fire.

Thought the episode was great. This show has the best live-action light saber duels since, what, the 1980's?

Yeah see not to bring it up again, but this is one of the reasons why I don't like the term "Grey Jedi" because people will attach it to anyone they want to.

Near as anyone can tell, Baylan left the Jedi Order and he is almost certainly drinking from the Dark Side. And until we get more info, that's it. He's not a Sith, nor a Nightbrother, nor beholden to any particular tltle or "order" apart from his own devices.

I kinda wish we had more than one episode to go into his motivations, and I hope things won't be left hanging with him because oh shit.

Threepio showing up was good and made sense considering Leia would be an active presence in the New Republic

Same as with Luke showing up when he did

But if they're going to be setting stories in this time period, the Big 3 need to play a role in the events that occur.

And while AI and deepfakes have come a long way and are fine for one off appearances like Luke in Mando or Book of Boba, I'd rather have real life flesh and blood actors who kinda sorta look like the original actors but embody the spirit of the characters over this CGI body double stuff. Just on principle.

Ford already passed on the role to the new guy, Hamill said he believes Luke is bigger than one actor, Billy Dee spoke highly of Donald Glover and was happy with him taking over the role for Solo.
