Either way, Ezra is a hypocrite. He happily picked up that blaster when he needed an extra edge during the fight. I don't blame him too much though. Even Obi-Wan dropped the act when he needed to survive.

Watch any of that schlock he's put out. It says nothing, does nothing interesting with the character, has nothing new to bring to the table. Like good for him for living his childhood fantasy but it's a perfect representation of his relationship with the series.

I havent watched Rebels but I have heard from some Rebels fans that this is just classic Ezra. Like a good natured dude who is a bit naive and overestimates his abilities by jumping into a fight saying he doesnt need a weapon, then ends up getting overwhelmed and has to grab a blaster

It's also dumb to think relying solely on the force is better, smarter, or more 'jedi-like'. Being at that level with the force is something most jedi can't do, and it's just as deadly a weapon as any lightsaber. That, and like half the original 7 styles of Lightsaber combat are defensive.

If anything it's Jedi that are supposed to be the ones that heavily rely on lightsabers and their various combat forms since in the OT Sidious reviled lightsabers as being Jedi weapons and the Sith were the guys using the force to do shit like choke people out and shoot lightning from their fingertips.
