im fine with the shows more progressive take on history just its a bit weird to show racist slave owners in annetes backstory then in the shows present its back to the shows standard

It also helps that the previous show already did a lot of the background building so no need to delve in Belmont history.

Juste's most notable feature is inheriting powerful magical power which was covered in the show. His other most notable thing is his best friend Maxim and him fighting over Lydie.

He's really not all that.

The strongest Belmont is Julius (and it's very much no accident Julia was named that).

Overall, I enjoyed it but if I had to compare it to the previous series, it would be on par with season 4 of that, way better than season 3 but not on the same level as seasons 1 and 2, while good, it has a lot of problems:

The focus on the revolution instead of that being just a background setting.

Richter's and Maria's personalities.

Annette basically should've just been a whole new character since the only thing she shares with her original version is the name.

Her and Richter linking each other kinda came out of nowhere.

The fact some characters should be others: Elizabeth should've been Carmilla and the night creatures should've had some classic enemies in their ranks to make it more Castlevania but that ship has sailed.

Drolta's first costume with the hooves.

the fact they just couldn't let 1 season of the new series be without having Alucard and finally the swearing, oh my god, the swearing was the worst.

for what its worth i agree killing her was a mistake the series had been setting her up as the main antagonist

could have even adapted her book at some point and then have her loose her lover and note the bitter irony she now feels how dracula did long ago

That......actually would've been a great idea, everything about Carmilla was mishandled in the previous series so bringing a bit of her book's elements and making her the main villain in season 3 would've worked greatly instead of making her fodder for Isaac.

I just finished, and I really liked this. Not as good as the heights of the first series, but a better first season than it managed. Great set-up, and I am excited to see what the show does going forward. The animation was a little choppy during action scenes, but I really like these characters.

And I was actually cheering during the last two minutes! Great way to end the season!
