https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/06/politics/trump-anti-immigrant-comments/index.html

Former President Donald Trump said in a recent interview that undocumented immigrants were poisoning the blood of our country, using language that is often employed by White supremacists and nativists in comments that have drawn rebuke from one prominent civil rights group.

Nobody has ever seen anything like were witnessing right now. It is a very sad thing for our country, Trump told the right-leaning news site The National Pulse in a video interview published last week. Its poisoning the blood of our country. Its so bad, and people are coming in with disease. People are coming in with every possible thing that you could have.

Trumps comments, which gained traction online this week, drew condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League, whose leader called the remarks racist, xenophobic and despicable.

Insinuating that immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country echoes nativist talking points and has the potential to cause real danger and violence. We have seen this kind of toxic rhetoric inspire real-world violence before in places like Pittsburgh and El Paso. It should have no place in our politics, period, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said.

Trump seeks to reassert himself as GOP kingmaker in House speaker fight
He continued, And when anyone has a large platform, they need to be careful with their voice, but when youre the former president of the United States, you absolutely need to recognize your responsibility because this kind of rhetoric is explosive and must end, full stop.

Since launching his first campaign for president in 2015, Trump has often derided immigrants in inflammatory terms, but the phrase poisoning the blood echoed language used by White supremacists, who fixate on so-called blood purity. Adolf Hitler wrote about the contamination of the blood or blood poisoning in Mein Kampf.

Thats a normal phrase that is used in everyday life in books, television, movies, and in news articles. For anyone to think that is racist or xenophobic is living in an alternate reality consumed with non-sensical outrage, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement.

Is he talking about what the NYC Health Commissioner said?

https://nypost.com/2023/04/16/half-of-migrants-piling-into-nyc-not-vaxxed-for-polio-top-doc-warns/

A startling 50% of migrants streaming into the Big Apple are not vaccinated against the contagious and potentially deadly poliovirus, city Health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan recently revealed as he urged doctors to help prevent a public health emergency, The Post has learned.

Vasan also said the new migrants come from, or pass through, countries with high rates of infectious tuberculosis and noted thereve been outbreaks of chickenpox in shelters housing the newcomers.

More than 50,000 people have come to New York City (NYC) in the past year shortly after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. As more people arrive and many make NYC their home, the scale and scope of need continues to grow, Vasan said in an eight-page letter, dated April 11, sent to physicians and other health care providers. A copy was obtained by The Post.

I am writing now to underscore how critical it is that health care providers take a wide range of considerations into account when working with people who are seeking asylum The scope of this letter represents the scale of the need. It is incumbent upon us as a welcoming city to comprehensively evaluate and meet these needs.

Vasan said screening and vaccinating migrants for diseases and viruses thatve been kept in check in the city is a top priority.
Vaccination rates for certain diseases are low in some of the most common countries of origin, with rates hovering around 50% for polio as an example, the commissioner said.

Lol, I highly doubt this is what he's referring to, but yeah, the increasing rate of tuberculosis in this city is very alarming. The issue is that there aren't medical facilities on the border checking for any of this. So many are not vaccinated and the city is unable to handle that. There was a report yesterday talking about how difficult it is to control.

This is capitalist BS. Plenty of Americans do these job, just look at sanitation in NYC.

The issue has always been not enough pay and benefits. The reason it's not an issue with sanitation in NYC is because they're paid very well.

since most of those jobs require actual tax paperwork they actually make the same as anyone else in those positions
the concept that they make less and work in terrible conditions is a by in large falsity and used to justify why americans wont do those jobs when in truth its because those jobs are too hard and too physical for mcdonalds slurping couch sitting chain smoking americans to do

This isn't about a specific crowd.

60% of sanitation workers in NYC are white dudes. A lot of themselves are Trump supporters that come from Staten Island.

They start off at about $50k and easily hit $100k in about 4 years. Tons of benefits and a pension. 100% of the DSNY are legal Americans. Sanitation here is an extremely dirty and risky job. Something like the 4th riskiest job overall. They all do it because they're paid well.
