the book says they're literally all around you at all times.

ahh see they definitely can't portray that accurately in a movie which just hurts the movie. Cause I mean in the movie, they hide in bushes and crap

still though if that's the case do they still do that dumb thing where they mess with things around you but not actually touch you themselves?

It makes sense if you know biblical stuff. Satan and demons never directly hurt people, they use suggestion to get you to do it yourself, since there's some sort of biblical law shit preventing demons from directly touching humans. That keanau reeves Constantine movie even mentioned it.

It's silly biblical logic, but the bird box makes a hell of a lot more sense if you look at the movie from the perspective that in that world, the Bible and stuff is 100% real.

so they do, got it

I didn't like it cause the monsters didn't make any sense. It's fine if your movie is a metaphor for something else, but not if it comes at the expense of the literal things happening in your movie

They're literally demons. The book the movie is based on is heavily awash in biblical stuff.

Hell, the entire ending of the movie is a metaphor for biblical shit. blind leading the sighted

ok then. I didn't like it cause the demons didn't make any sense. It's fine if your movie is a metaphor for something else, but not if it comes at the expense of the literal things happening in your movie

They make perfect sense in the book.

so the book explains why the demons want people to look at them knowing they'll be driven to commit suicide yet all the demons seem to do their best to hide so no one can see them then pop out of the bushes the second someone opens their eyes? Or how they make you hear familiar voices to try and convince you to look at them without you ever looking at them? Or why the demons can't just break through a glass window and force your eyes open themselves? I mean they can jump all over a car and rock it or pull a bed attached to a wire but won't dare touch you if you're a 5 year old girl alone in the woods wearing a blindfold? Nothing about them made any sense to me

The creatures don't hide. They're near ubiquitous, almost everywhere. They don't exert any real force because they don't have to. Their whole purpose is to bring about the apocalypse, that's it. No need to put in much effort if you can get us to do it ourselves. You guys are trying to find much more profound, logical meaning behind them, when the reality is ultra simplistic.

uhm you're the one being profound, I'm being ultra simplistic. We see the camera panning around everywhere seeing things none of the characters see and they're always hiding around the corner or in bushes until someone opens their eyes then they know to pop out into your view

it was pretty bad, nothing really made sense. Specifically the monsters. It's ok to make your movie a metaphor for whatever in the world this movie is suppose to be a metaphor for, but not at the expense of the literal things happening in the movie. I couldn't understand what the monsters' purposes were as nothing about them makes any sense. They actively want people to look at them so they'll be driven to commit suicide. Why? I don't know. Yet all the monsters seem to do their best to hide so no one can see them then i guess they pop out of the bushes the second someone opens their eyes. They can make you hear familiar voices to try and convince you to look at them without you ever looking at them? How? They can brainwash people to go and trick people to go look at the monsters, and those brainwashed people can hold you down and force your eyes open and make you look at the monsters... but the monsters can't just break through a glass window and force your eyes open themselves? They can jump all over a car and rock it but won't dare touch you if you're a 5 year old girl alone in the woods wearing a blindfold? Nothing about these monsters made any kind of sense

Well, except for homicide. I'd judge them for that.

this is how I feel. While I personally wouldn't just up and leave in said situation, I understand that the man should have the choice to do that as he too is an innocent bystander that did nothing. So it just seems weird that some people would seem to hate the man just as much if not moreso than the mother who's fault the entire thing is
