Castlevania is up there, especially SOTN.

I'd put Baldur's Gate up there. Especially Shadows of Amn.

Shadow of the Colossus may belong on that list

Civilization.

I think Devil May Cry was a big influence on the genre back in the PS2.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne deserves some credit for singlehandedly popularizing the series in the west.

You could argue that Virtua Racing should be on the list. It was the very first 3D racing game, and of course, it was one of the first 3D games in general. I remember all those coloured polygons. I wasn't that into it, because I wasn't a huge racing fan at the time (and still am not), but it was pretty influential.

You know, I was going to get a chance in the near future to play Dark Souls for the first time, but there's still no release date for the Switch version. Have you heard anything about it, Zodd? The other enhanced ports are already out for other consoles and the PC, I think. It's kinda strange, I guess.

It was very platformy for a sandbox game, especially with the gliding and climbing. For me personally, that's part of what made it so great (that, and the really clever design, the graphics, etc).

You know, I always thought that MW1 was pretty overrated. Perks are the worst thing that ever happened to the COD series, perhaps. I don't know why people like them so much.

I dont know the release date. But I highly recommend the PS4 or Xbox versions because they are 60 fps compared to 30 fps on Switch.

I agree that Dune II and the original Command and Conquer are very important games, and furthermore, C&C opened up a whole new world for me. For years, I played plenty of the series, and also some Dark Reign 1. But since they're basically PC franchises, I don't think they're worth including.

and then there are some inclusions that make sense but for reasons that basically have nothing to do with the game itself, like sonic didn't do anything meaningful from a gameplay standpoint but obviously it contributed a lot to the console wars and the history of gaming

- Momentum based gameplay
- In addition to walls and flat floors, there were plenty of graduated slopes
- Very complex levels, with tons of secret stuff, and 2 or 3 routes through levels
- Faster than most if not all previous games

How is that not advancing gameplay? It wasn't just the graphics and sound that were excellent, so was the gameplay.

It's generally accepted that Switch is slightly more powerful than the other consoles I mentioned. I doubt very much it's as possible as the souped up versions, though. I also expect the PS5 and XBox 2 will be quite a lot more powerful than the Switch, but we'll have to wait and see.

It's generally accepted that Switch is slightly more powerful than the other consoles I mentioned. I doubt very much it's as possible as the souped up versions, though. I also expect the PS5 and XBox 2 will be quite a lot more powerful than the Switch, but we'll have to wait and see.

This could be caused by several things.

- Lazy developers
- Rushed completion
- People who aren't experienced at designing things for the Switch

I admit, it's probably due to lack of power, but we don't know that. It's annoying, though, that it probably won't run that well. Sad, I guess.

But Sonic did it so much better. I really pulled it off.

Also, when you say Thrust, do you mean the second generation action game? I'm amazed someone on CE has played that. It was a good game in theory, but it got hard MUCH too quickly, and wasn't exactly forgiving, so I'd say it was a pretty bad game. I don't think I even got past the first level.

Ah, the second generation. Those were the days, huh? Bolderdash, Chuckie Egg, and of course Jet Set Willy 2: The Final Frontier, which is still in my top 10 games of all time. An early proper platform-adventure game, I guess. I can barely imagine a new gamer playing that stuff these days. The complaints about how they don't run in 4k at 60FPS (lol), how hard the gameplay is, why almost every game is 2D and side-scrolling. New gamers make me very angry, I must admit.

For a long time, people were saying the Switch was more powerful than the standard PS4 and XBox, but not by much. The thing was, based on the first two games I played, which were BotW and Odyssey, I basically believed that.

Let's say I believe you. How much less powerful is it? Let me put it like this: how does it compare to the Wii U? Please tell me it's at least as powerful, because I've seen at least one game that looks better than any Wii U game, but I've seen at least one that looked worse than most Wii U games.

Yeah, and I assumed that the Wii U was using pretty much all its power, but maybe the Switch was using 50% or 75% of its power.
