yeah the climax / final battles bring GoTG 2 down for me too

anyway, this one went full comedy to mixed results. still better than most I think.

really actively dislike the first dr. strange. it might actually be my least favorite Marvel flick, even moreso than stuff like Thor 2. everyone talks up the Dormammu scene but it's not enough.

I feel like Civil War is way too busy. Really should be two separate films

if you switch AoU and Endgame on pezzicle's list it makes more sense

So I have not read the thread at all. Just popping in to say that I'm finally playing this. I guess I'm at the end of Chapter 2 right now.

As someone who really disliked XBC2 and quit playing because I couldn't handle the Loli robot... this is much better. The battles still feel kind of slow and boring though. Really needs to open up more than four/five moves at a time. Battles feel less overly complicated but almost to a fault.

Story wise this feels like an above average Tales of game with better production values... which is again an improvement over XBC2 but a step back from 1. The characters are good, but I can't help but think they would work better if they were introduced over the span of a larger time period than all at once. Weirdly enough I think this game would've been better with a "childhood arc" and a timeskip instead of flashbacks.

The initial premise of the game is pretty good, but how it's developing is already giving me cause for concern. What is up with these villains? Too much cheese. Also not sure why they had to incorporate re-classing as part of the narrative and not just a game mechanic, but whatever.

Anyway... I probably won't finish this but I'm enjoying it well enough.

It's the core loop not being challenging, I've determined.

On paper this should be just like the older SMT related spinoffs, but in making this more casual they've lost the grindy aspects that made those games fun. They made the game completely straightforward and transparent, which means there isn't really anything to "figure out." Being able to save anywhere, multiple dungeon checkpoints, free healing... this might work in Persona where you're "punished" for leaving a dungeon with losing a day, but here it takes away any drive to level your demons/upgrade your material.

It's a shame because I think the characters are generally pretty good and the engine itself is really nice. I also generally like the affinity system, though I think they could do a lot more with it. The DLC adds a lot (in terms of likeable NPC's and challenging bosses) but it's also Day One DLC that absolutely should've been part of the game but whatever, it's 2022.

All this being said, if this were portable then I'd be more into it. Seems like a perfect Steam Deck game to play while multi-tasking.

I'm looking forward to watching this over a period of a few days. Have enjoyed most of his videos since the kotaku days. I do kind of miss the short videos (which were generally funnier and less emotionally crushing). That being said, I think the tokimeki memorial and doom reviews were brilliant.

this is coming from someone who definitely watched the entire nine hour long cyberpunk review though. honestly I treat it more like a podcast/background noise than I do a video.

I mean I already think Phase 4 is pretty bad. I don't think IW and Endgame are untouchable but I also don't think anything in Phase 4 is even A-tier (including No Way Home, which I like less than most people). I expect BP2 to be at least A-tier; if it isn't I think I'll truly be ready to write off the MCU (aside from GotG 3).

Everyone always clowning on Pratt, when the real issue is that no amount of money or oversight from Nintendo could ever result in Illumination making a good movie even if their lives depends on it. They made one OK movie ever and it was their first one. Nothing else that's even kind of OK!

Nintendo just bought that animation studio Dynamo and is rebranding it to Nintendo Pictures. My concpiracy theory brain tells me they saw what the results of this movie looked like and said never again.

Zero and Azure dont have dubs? Feel like this is the first Im learning that and :(. Not exactly a dealbreaker, but Id have preferred them being in English audio.

I don't even need them to have full dubs either. just some english audio in battle with the option to turn off any japanese voice acting would be fine.
