I like how "breezy" She-Hulk has been. I suspect that's going to take a turn towards the normal MCU climax nonsense soon.

I enjoyed most of the 2021 slate (aside from Falcon/WS), but the slate from this year has ranged from average to awful (Ms. Marvel struck me as BAD CW. Not even standard Arrowverse, I'm talking the real dregs - just crazy bad writing that started decently with the first episode and just spiraled into nonsense). I certainly can see what people like about She-Hulk, but it's hit-or-miss for me. There are aspects of Jen's character that constantly seem surprised-pikachu-face about what's going on, and it's a little headscratching to me. I think there's this constant push-pull of wanting to go into new genres and directions with these later shows while still adhering to MCU traditionalism, and it results in a lot of sloppiness on these shows which I would say never is an issue with the films.

I absolutely agree with the part of it seeming like they are only trying to dip their toes into other genres while keeping it as traditional as possible being detrimental to the shows/movies so far. Everything would have been better if it just full on leaned into its genre.

I'd they let MOM go full Raimi it would have been a top one mcu movie tbqh

I can say I have enjoyed all the shows so far because I am a Marvel simp but from an actual quality standpoint almost this entire phase has been really disappointing. I don't think I've been blown away once (in a good sense. Ms. Marvel punching a hole in the ground that goes to the non-existent "Jersey City docks" made me scream louder than I did watching the first Avengers movie)

The only show I actively disliked was Moon Knight. FaWS was borderline bad but some of the action scenes were fun and I liked US Agent.

Wandavision was worse in hindsight because the whole show was mystery boxes that just slapped you in the face when they were opened.

I feel like that sums up my general thoughts as well.

It's impossible to truly judge, but I've wondered how much of that is just that everything looks a little subpar in the afterglow of Infinity War and Endgame. Those 2 movies have cast such a long shadow that in some ways I feel like I'm still waiting for something to "break out into the light".

Endgame came out a year before Covid.It's time we stop making the afterglow excuse.

Also, No Way Home at least was legitimately on the same level as those two.

But what if I told you that the MCU will never, ever have a high as amazing as that again? Could you live with the Phase 4 quality of the shows/movies?

I mean I already think Phase 4 is pretty bad. I don't think IW and Endgame are untouchable but I also don't think anything in Phase 4 is even A-tier (including No Way Home, which I like less than most people). I expect BP2 to be at least A-tier; if it isn't I think I'll truly be ready to write off the MCU (aside from GotG 3).

WandaVision is one of those shows where I think it might have had too much time

I started watching Jessica Jones S1 which much like Daredevil S1 promises to be better than any of the Disney+ shows

Is it just me or is this show's soundtrack amazing, who did the score for this show, they're incredible

Just watched the latest She-Hulk and the majority of it was very not good. I don't understand this episode at all or what the purpose was.

Also this drives me fucking insane about this show: These attorneys somehow practice in all different fields of law. Family law, like divorce, is absolutely not something the vast majority of attorneys should be messing with, especially when last week she was an IP lawyer. I try not to let it bug me too much but god damn you have so many attorneys in this show and you can't just have them all practice different law to serve each story?

I think the hand wave explanation is since they're all part of the Superhuman Division which is already a niche field they have to take whatever cases come.

Its a TV show about superheroes and you guys are worried about a distinctions amongst lawyer specialities!

I get it but also CMON! (He says tongue in cheek.). I suppose different people find their suspension of disbelief shattered by different things.

It's kinda nuts to think anything involving superpowers should all be considered the same law, because what differentiates Mr. Immortal's BS from other people who have unlawfully escaped marriages? Or what should have been a very simple IP case the week prior? There's not a separate set of laws that come from people with superpowers! It all has still fallen under regular laws!

I'm ranting, and it is a dumb puff pop show but it is just baffling how they couldn't have at least differentiated things like "This is our superhero family law guy" "This is our superhero criminal law guy" "This is our superhero IP guy." It's so basic that it's weird they didn't attempt that.

It's like watching people pretend to play video games on shows and movies

With the exception of Weeds, which was the only show I ever watched where people weren't slamming every button at the same time while playing a racing game.

I think most people expect Deadpool 3 to have some multiversal shenanigans too.

i mean, they can just cast a new guy as wolverine without explaining anything. the MCU has always done shit like that (see the norton/ruffalo changeup, for example).

They can make up any excuse. I have wanted to see this happen for so long I dont care what excuses they need to make up when its time for the real Wolverine actor to take the stage. Theyre delivering fan dreams and excitement
