They're assholes for spoiling it for people. But we're probably not seeing the events of that game in English for another 3 years at the bare minimum so you were always gonna get impatient people wanting to know everything right away. After the delay translating Crossbell has caused they really need to knuckle down and try firing these games out yearly in a hope to getting closer to Japan. We can't afford to get even further behind.

At least since it's been 2 years since Cold Steel IV I'm not feeling any Trails fatigue replaying Zero like this.

And I mean we're getting Azure, Nayuta and Reverie all next year so it's definitely going to be a year of Trails

You throw in Falcom likely focusing on Ys X for 2023 we'll at least be on the road to Kuro by the time they announce whatever they have planned next.

This has nothing to do with localization speed. Durante is the one that ported them, not Falcom.
The biggest reason they don't come out in a timely fashion is because Falcom refuses to give anyone they're partnered with their scripts before the games come out in Japan, so they can only start working on them after the come out in Japan.

Literally no other company does this. Even companies that don't do simultaneous releases still provide their scripts to the translators well before the game comes out.

There is no excuse for constantly taking 2-3 years to release a translated version other than stubbornness.

Yeah, catching up completely was probably never happening. It's a bit of a shame that Reverie will be a 3 year gap after ToCS 3+4 were 2 year gaps, though of course that probably has something to do with Zero/Azure/Nayuta releasing in that period. Kuro and Kuro 2 both coming out in 2024 would bring it back down to a 2 year gap, but I don't know if that's terribly likely...

Kinda sucks the PS4 doesn't have a shelf life like the PS3 did. Means they don't really have a reason to rush any of these games out like that had to with CS 1 and 2.

Honestly, part of me wonders if simultaneous platform release is also partly responsible for the gap increasing. PS4 previously enjoyed getting the first release basically a year ahead of PC/Switch.

Kuro 2024 I could believe, but not Kuro II but I'd love to be wrong.

Pretty sure XSEED is on the record as Falcom having approached them and asked them to localize Cold Steel when they did.

Keep in mind, this was all going down while SC was still in limbo, nevermind Crossbell.

The most plausible theory I've heard actually has Tokyo Xanadu as the culprit.

You can pretty neatly draw a line in the timeline through Tokyo Xanadu with the before being XSEED basically being the exclusive English localization partner and them basically being shut out.

The story, IIRC, is basically that Falcom pitched Tokyo Xanadu to XSEED and they turned it down because it was a Vita only title at a time where the Vita was already dead outside of Japan. So Falcom shopped it around and Aksys bit. Unknown to XSEED or Aksys was that Falcom was working on the Tokyo Xanadu ex PS4 port which all of a sudden made it a much more viable title.

But basically ever since then Falcom has basically been working with NIS and I believe there's also a connection at the highest levels there in Japan as well. We know XSEED tried to get Ys VIII but obviously that went to NISA. Don't know if they tried for CS3 but we all know how things went from there.

I have no idea but I absolutely would never trust the general Trails fanbase to rationally arrive at this conclusion.

I finished the platinum and did not encounter any of that

The only weird text was when you get one of the ultimate weapons it displayed the weapon name in white text instead of blue text with the coding to make it blue partially written out next to it.
