this is maybe not the best time to mention that I rewatched the deadpools last week and found them both more boring than I remembered

like they're still pretty good, but I could feel my mind wandering while watching them

Obviously R-rated Deadpool is needed, but R-rated Wolverine is also the good stuff

I wouldn't bank on this

right after acquiring Fox Disney rereleased an edited-down-to-PG13 version of Deadpool 2 for the holiday market; that doesn't give a good sign of them wanting to maintain the intergrity of the series

That was a big joke though and Feige outright confirmed Deadpool 3 will be rated R last year.

Ryan Reynolds is the real life living embodiment of Deadpool and I love it. Surely there doesn't exist a more perfect casting choice.

And I'm extremely happy but not at all surprised Disney got Hugh to return in some form (although half expecting this to be a huge troll and he only shows up for a quick cameo). Getting previous actors to return for their roles is kind of a running theme for them at this point!

What exactly is the chronological order?

theoretically its First Class, DoFP, Appcalypse, Dark Phoenix, and then the original trilogy, but DoFP is kind of simultaneously a sequel to First Class and X-Men 3, so the concept of chronological order isnt really clean.

I'm both repulsed and intrigued by the idea of shine first experiencing the movies in chronological order.

On one hand they aren't designed to be viewed in that way, as the prequel films seem designed with the expectation that you are familiar with the first trilogy.

On the other it would be an interesting experiment at least. A watchthrough topic would be entertaining if you do choose that route!

I know they did something with the MCU where they pieced together everything (like every single scene) in chronological order

This would be much easier to digest than all of that, but it would also directly contradict itself a bunch of times

Star Wars is three timelines in my headcanon. The original timeline (my preferred one) that only incorporates the OT, everything surrounding it remains pure speculation. Second timeline is with the PT and everything that era introduced.

And third timeline is Disney era that focuses on rehashing the past. It revolves around the OT, holding it up on a pedestal and revering everything it did while also trying to redo/add as much as possible without outright retconning anything (although they walk a fine line in some cases).

Once they announced an Episode VII, I thought "why?", given I-VI gives the full Hero's Journey, the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. That movie was good enough for me to keep the hopes up, and Rogue One was even better. And then the rest of the sequels brought me back to my initial conclusion, that the story worked a lot better when Return of the Jedi was the end, and Solo proved not spin-offs could work, being diverting but disposable. And can't disagree that rehashing is a problem due to the Obi-Wan show, couldn't they at least have attempted a story that didn't feature Leia and Darth Vader? (specially the latter, I thought it only undermined the reunion that counted in the Death Star) At least The Mandalorian tried something new and was awesome.
