I'm liking the character art from this game so far. They have personality without being too wildly designed

the fandom existed because there were so many young men who didn't fit into more conventional social groups. they found a group that reveled in being unconventional and I think bronies found it empowering to be able to shed their obligation to maintain masculinity.

They were embarrassing as hell to behold, but I doubt most bronies regret it, they seem to have had a fun time. I think it attracted a lot of people on the fringe of society (autistic people mainly) and they had a community where they could be earnest without rejection.

Then again, there were also people like my brother who I don't understand why he liked the show.

I don't think frozen 2 is as tightly written as Frozen. I think it needed another pass for the script to be fully worked out.

going into frozen 2 I did not expect it to delve into the royal family's sordid past. their grandfather was a power-hungry imperialist and was afraid of the native people's affiliation with magic. Kind of feels like what Hans would have done if he had succeeded in the first movie. So their grandfather betrayed the natives, killing their leader, with the intention to take their land. which disturbed the spirits and froze both parties inside the lost woods until it's resolved.

i think it was bold to make the crux of the movie that their ancestor was a war criminal. I like that anna and elsa's reaction to learning what he did isn't to dwell in guilt or to try to save what they can of his image. they condemn him, and accept the responsibility of fixing what he fucked up.

I think it's a good and unexpected direction for the sequel. I think the movie is choppy from a storytelling perspective, and at times confusing. but I like the core story.

I really feel like DC would be best served to just stop making movies starring anyone from the Justice League movies, take a 5+ year break, and come back reinvented.

it's such a goddamn mess, anyway. I'm pretty sure henry caville is long since done being superman. ben affleck is done being batman, too, and he never even did his own movie. and we've already had another batman actor who I don't even know if he's in the same canon as the justice league or if he'll come back for another movie. that's their two biggest characters, only one of which ever got his own movie (and it was back in 2013)

they did a joker movie and I also don't know if he's meant to be canon with the justice league. the flash is a flunk. aquaman is troubled. I think cyborg's actor has refused to work with WB. suicide squad was trash, and then they made a confused sequel/remake ???? and gave it the dumbest most ambiguous identity "the suicide squad," and it flopped bc nobody could tell what it was meant to be, a sequel, a remake, or what. they made a movie for harley quinn, vaguely connected to jared leto's joker I think? and it was a mess. All they have is wonder woman, but they haven't announced development of another movie for her afaik. shazam is meant to be decent, but I don't hear anybody clamoring over that property.

Of all of these movies, most of them have been critically panned. their universe has been a total flop. Meanwhile even marvel is starting to struggle with keeping their universe fresh.

watching somebody play it reminds me of how thoroughly lame and unexciting the intro scene is compared to Galaxy's.

that said, the places, music, fights, creatures, and gameplay are absolutely top notch. I can't decide which game I prefer, but if Galaxy 2 had more exciting atmosphere during the story beats, I'd easily prefer it.

i like the cinematography from Us, I just don't like how uncohesive the story feels. To me it felt like the stories I used to write in high school in creative writing class. polygon's review makes me skeptical of nope bc it basically says it suffers from the same problem:

because as much as I enjoy the imagery of Nope's trailer, it looks like it's more of that, and I'm not down for another one of those.

I could maybe agree with the first part, and fairy types definitely attract LGBT (sylveon is a trans icon) but I don't think fire types are homophobic

Best JRPG ever, the first two games combined.

No other game has made battles so fluid to navigate and watch. You can speed through the menus and hold b to speed through the animations (but you shouldn't bc they're gorgeous)

Also love how it uses magic not just as weapons or healing and teleporting, but also to solve problems while exploring, or reading minds. Too cool.

the premise is

You get a charismatic panel to guess what the guests' secret talents/inventions are by asking yes/no questions.

They get three minutes of time to guess. the longer it takes them to guess it, the more you win. and they're given cryptic clues using props, along the way. after the game, you show everybody your skill/invention.

it's a fun show concept, but they spent too much time each episode on filler content (slime cause it was nickelodeon, and product placements) and i'd enjoy an adult version without all the filler.
