I first noticed these like 5 years ago. I worked a job where I got out at 3am. I'd stop for gas and in my haze I'd have these dumb upbeat ads playing at me to go inside and buy a fountain drink.

That was my approach when gas stations first started doing it. Now literally every single one around here does, do there is no way to avoid it until I can afford an electric car.

i dont mind them generally but there are a few stations around here where you stop in at night with nobody else around and as soon as you get out every pump in the area starts yelling at you about their discount card

These have existed for several years in LA. Soon as you start pumping gas, ads start playing. And they don't stop until you finish with your gas. I didn't know they weren't a thing everywhere.

I hear ya--I have like three or four adblockers on my PC but I guess the ads at the pump don't bug me much cause it's not like I'm doing much else for those two mintues and I can always close my car door
