There is only really 2 scenes that are graphic. It's pretty tame, tbh. However, I don't really have a better answer other than School Days, but again, that's pretty tame as well, imo

I remember lots of limbs being torn off and a pretty traumatic flashback sequence... but it's been a while.

The sequel trilogy either had no plan, or didn't adhere to one. An absurd number of directors have been fired and there have been more cancelled movies than there have been released. That's a problem and Kennedy is the common factor.

Star Wars is far from ruined but it needs someone to be awake at the wheel.

He's been amassing forces on Exogol for like 30 years. The meta reason though, again, is that there was no plan for the trilogy and ROS needed a villain for the final act after Kylo's redemption. Had to be Palpatine or Plagueis, and Plagueis would have taken too long to explain.

*Why are all these star destroyers just right next to each other, all primed ready for destruction?

Because they're launching from this planet hidden away in the unknown region and they need to be close to the navigation tower.

*How many thousands of people are running all these ships?

I don't think it's explained. Outside of Kylo's first visit to Exogol where you see aliens working in the Snoke-cloning lab, I'm not even sure those thousands of hooded Sith cultists have any kind of corporeal form.

*Why do these super advanced ships not have their own navigation system?

Navigation through the unknown region is shown to be extraordinarily difficult, requiring a wayfinder or special navigation tower.

*Why is Rey so invincible, and able to heal other people? It ruins any sense of suspense.

Disney is progressive but not progressive enough to maim a female hero. I think the healing scene at the end, where Kylo heals Rey, would have been more effective if she had taken some visible damage from fighting and killing Palpatine, but... oh well.

*Finn finds out there are other storm troopers who have second thoughts........ but then goes on to kill thousands of them right after with no second thoughts. wat

They made their choice.

I don't see why this is an issue. Sith follow the rule of two; presumably, Kylo took Vader's wayfinder from the forest and Rey claimed Palpatine's wayfinder from the throne room. One was made for the Sith master, one for the apprentice.

Don't see why this needs explaining. That's just the antagonist thwarting the protagonist, creating conflict for the sake of having a climactic showdown and lightsaber duel.

Yep, the keycard was explained, that's exactly what it does.

*What's the point of Rey destroying Ben's ship when she goes back to Luke's planet, only for another ship to just happen to be there, and for Rey to go get the map from the destroyed ship that just happened to survive?

The other ship is Luke's, and this is one of the things that was actually hinted at, handed off and followed-through from TLJ.

*How can a ship, designed for no atmosphere and is made of metal, be perfectly in working order while it was stored underwater for a century?

I dunno, why do the lasers make sound in space? It's sci-fi.

*What's with the complete 180 on Rey's lineage?

TFA suggested she was someone important. TLJ 180'd and ROS 180'd back to the beginning and finished what TFA started. You could explain it away as an Obi-Wan kind of half-truth, but I think it's just a result of disjointed leadership and poor planning.

I agree that Palpatine was a "break glass in case of emergency" play. TLJ didn't leave many options on the table after it killed Snoke and turned Hux into a joke. ROS had to go with Palpatine or Plagueis, and it didn't have time to explain Plagueis.

Force healing transfers the life of the healer. Rey was able to heal minor and major wounds without exhausting her entire life force, but at the end of the movie Rey is fully dead. Ben is barely holding onto life as it is (having been drained by Palpatine and thrown down a pit), so he has to trade a life for a life to bring Rey back.

It answered all the questions I wanted answered and it asked it few questions that will be fun to think about (similar to how the graphic novel left things somewhat open-ended, for the reader to imagine how the story might continue). There were a couple of fan theories I liked better but this was a satisfying conclusion.

I've heard its real appeal is the music--in particular, its adaptive soundtrack.

The music is top-tier. It's seldomly adaptive, although it's very effective in the handful of moments where it is. The sheer quantity (and quality) of the music is amazing and all the characters have distinctly memorable themes and instrumentation.

Honestly the new Star Wars movies main problem is that no one thought to have a road map for the new trilogy.

...Thats TLJs main issue is that it swerved so hard in a different direction that it was jarring.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts about TLJ. It feels like Rian Johnson came in and smashed all of JJ's toys. There's very little cohesion and it leaves me with the impression that there was little to no collaboration.

Most of my concerns go away if Rian Johnson is left to plan his own self-contained series.
