I agree with all of that if you just remove "further proof." Louis CK doesn't fit this example though because he did apologize... eventually. I mean, subtract major points for his initial fake-out apology and denial, but he gave a thorough apology for all of it in the end.

I agree that the wait-and-forget process isn't a healthy way for society to deal with these guys, but there also has to be some redemptive path back for some of the lesser-transgressors. I'd argue that Louis CK is walking that path delicately, in a way that sets a positive example. If we can't forgive him then what exactly does someone like him have to do to earn his second chance?

On one hand, Pokemon is the most profitable franchise in all of media history, so these are deliberate choices, not financial constraints, and GameFreak may rightly be criticized for coasting. Wow, that's a shockingly low number, all things considered. I think there's just been too many reboot attempts which all failed to live up to T2... that makes it hard to feel invested in the story and the characters. Only the TV series managed to make me care again, and that had the rug pulled out from under it just as it was starting to peak.

Nah, it doesn't look horrible. I'll admit though, I have almost no hype for this game. It looks weird and cool, but I still don't really have a good idea of what exactly I have to look forward to. This is one case where I'm actually going to base my decision on reviews. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised. I mean, Kojima's made some pretty great games.

Gen 3 was where I dropped off for a while, when they cut compatibility with prior gens. I gave the remake a try though and it was pretty great. It kinda felt like they were trying to right an earlier wrong by making so many Pokemon available in the remake. I got most of the way towards completing my living 'dex grinding omega/alpha.

In contrast, Trump's "fake news" mantra is based in the naked denial of fact. That's an entirely different kind of sickness-- one that Fox News is the modern progenitor of, and which Trump has helped fester.

I haven't listened to much of Peterson's content so I don't know who's wrong here... but I've only ever heard him argue against the gender pronoun law from a free speech standpoint, and I've heard him affirm that he calls people by their preferred pronouns.

Also, "clean your room" is a message of personal responsibility-- not a call to bully others. It's one thing to say that Peterson needs to take his own advice. It's another thing to gleefully celebrate the guy's mental breakdown in the face of online harassment.

Your ISP knows every destination IP address you visit unless you take concerted steps to obscure them. From these addresses it's trivial to perform a reverse DNS lookup, but you're probably using your provider's DNS servers already anyway unless you set them manually or configured your own DHCP server.

Tor protects you if you use it correctly, probably. Nobody really knows how many of those hops are owned by intelligence agencies. VPN service helps... although if you do something bad enough and push comes to shove, is your VPN company going to tell the US government "no?" Depends on the company and jurisdiction, I guess.

Best just to avoid doing anything that could generate a subpoena. Your ISP certainly isn't going to fight for your privacy if they're served with one.

Bernie's not my first choice but I think he won this round. If he came out with a weak-sounding voice again-- especially after the heart attack-- it would have ended his campaign tonight. Instead, he was spry, he picked his moments while everyone was punching at Warren, and he earned some endorsements.

Warren handled front-runner status reasonably well. She fended off most of the attacks, although a couple landed. I don't think her tap-dance around the MFA tax / cost distinction is doing her any favors. And her stance on automation is disappointing. Yang is right-- he does have the facts on that. It doesn't look good when the policy wonk doesn't know the data.

Mayor Pete is the best debater / communicator. He deserves Biden's place in the moderate lane, imo. Biden, in typical form, gave one or two coherent answers before age took him. I don't know what people see in him.

Kamala tried to act like an everyday, casual human being and mostly pulled it off. It's probably too late for her and Cory Booker though. Poor Cory. He had a hell of a closing statement / answer.

I hate how Steyer bought his way to the stage and I was ready to pounce on any tiny slip-up, but if I'm being honest he seemed well-prepared and gave constructive answers. And he didn't eat up much time. Can't really be mad about that performance.

Can we not retread the same ground on health care next time though? And not end every question with "please respond."

Greta is beneficial to the cause. It doesn't matter that she's not a paragon of advocacy. And the people she speaks to directly don't matter all that much either. The UN, Congress, most of the adults who already chose to ignore the scientists... I don't expect them to do anything. But kids of Greta's generation are also watching. I think she's going to have a lasting impact on them.
