Not to be flippant, but God went the way of Santa Clause for me around the same time I stopped truly believing in all those things. They stayed alive in my imagination for a few more years, in a playful what if? kind of way... but to me, the Bible always seemed more like a story book than a history book. Sorry to be blunt. N64 couldn't handle FF7 in the same way that PS1 couldn't handle first-person shooters like GoldenEye, Perfect Dark or Turok 2. Different design choices for different platforms.

Disc-based storage was a novel choice that wound up dominating for several generations before the industry circled back to hard drives and SD cards. It wasn't without its drawbacks (if you haven't touched a PS1 in some time, you've probably forgotten how atrocious the load times are), but I think those can be forgiven since it kicked off FMVs and made the sky the limit in terms of music.

NNKII is an ambitious game. It doesn't recapture the same magic as the first game in the series, but it's still worth playing. Kingdom-building is actually my favorite addition, while the chibi overworld look is the single worst change, imo.

Back in the day, console warriors used to argue over which console had the longest life cycle. Now it's a race to split the base, and a company is failing if they don't revise their hardware within the first five years.

I think the base game is beatable for most people, without too much frustration. One of the optional areas is pretty gnarly. The DLC ramps it up to very, very hard. Most players don't finish the final DLC. Play Hollow Knight long enough and I promise you'll reach a point where the game challenges you... and probably breaks you.

People had the same fears when we went from bimetallism to floating fiat money. None of it has ever been all that stable. The supply of gold and silver was historically volatile, governments collapse and their currencies go extinct, and some cryptocurrencies will bust. It's all monopoly money, to a degree.

That kinda defeats the purpose of having History class though. Slavery is a pretty important theme in the history of the world, and the way you write about it having a definitive "end" undersells the ongoing struggles of former enslaved populations, being treated as less than full-citizens (to put it mildly). Schools need to teach how the reverberations of slavery are manifest today.

If for some reason, the baby survives abortion, you can also label kids as either Legal or Not Legal. Only the Legal kids can attend school and get jobs. This will deter people from having kids without a license.

My high school offered AP Calc AB and BC each as separate year-long courses. That was was the perfect pace for me and I came away with a pretty good understanding. Trying to cram these into semester-long college classes is probably a harder path to take, imo. I didn't hit too many hurdles until the big reset with Linear Algebra-- that's where I really had to start re-reading chapters and studying. It looks trivially easy on the surface but you can't get through it just memorizing routines while being shaky on definitions.

We've had some pretty earth-shattering events in our history-- including some that wiped out 30 - 60% of entire continents-- and yet here we are. I enjoyed the plot of Watchmen too but it's not doctrine.

Yeah, the pace isn't so slow that binging is necessary... but there's also not a ton of mystery and speculation to participate in each week, so you're not missing out by waiting. It's a fun show. Definitely watch when ready.

Demon's Crest is a legit hidden gem. Well... not sure how "hidden" it still is, since it's included for free in Nintendo Online. Anyway, it's great. It's on the difficult side but much more completable than Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

I thought they had to be returned to the place and time from which they were taken. But that begs the question of how Captain America returned the stones taken from distant galaxies. So... maybe it's just one of those things where you gotta not over-analyze it. There's nothing that makes it impossible for Captain America to have accomplished that mission, so it's not really a plot hole; it's just a lot left to the imagination, that the movie didn't feel it was important to explain.

The only knock I have against Super Metroid is that the movement feels clunky compared to Mega Man X, especially the wall jumping. But it's easy to forgive.

It's not all bad, but tonally it's a total downer. The show seems to revel in torturing and killing off old, beloved characters. It's just exhausting to watch all these lonely, broken characters be put through tragedy after tragedy.

Jordan Peterson is a nutcase but he's mostly harmless and seems earnest to me. I can't fathom how he earned so many devout followers. At the same time, I'm also baffled by the rabid hostility of his detractors. I'll admit, I can appreciate some of the dark humor, roasting the self-help guy for having a mental breakdown... but some people appear to be genuinely gleeful about Peterson's personal tragedies in a way that seems kinda unhinged.

If what happened in GA isn't enough to convince Senate Democrats to nuke the filibuster and pass HR-1 ASAP, then I just don't think they have what it takes to stop the USA's transition to a fascist state. I'm not placing the blame at their feet, but it is entirely within their power to make this choice for us. Words are no comfort-- they need to act now or they're only prolonging an inevitable spiral into authoritarian rule.
