I get that some people are making her out to be a hero, which I don't really buy, but I don't see how you can deny that she is doing something good. We need to increase awareness of global climate change, how can the American right disagree with that one?

A lot of social media posts I see criticize her for trying to be act like an adult, but at least she is trying to do something positive. A lot of 17 year olds can barely get themselves out of bed to get to school on time.

I have also seen her called a puppet and that she is just following a script. I think that is probably partially true, but is that not true for most adult activists and politicians too? I mean most top politicians have speech writers and advisors and all that sort of thing. Is that really much different?

Ur right on the money. Even if she is a puppet, we have had scientists tell us for decades that this shjt will(is) spiral(ing) out of control. They had their chance to listen to actual experts

I always find it funny when people say "This person is only doing things because people are manipulating them (puppet)". While at the same time those people are manipulating others to not do it out of fear they come off as a puppet. You can literally claim anybody is doing what they do for others. You have to be inside that persons brain to actually have proof or insight of any of these claims. Why not just focus on the stuff you can actually back up, like the good she does? Instead of making up baseless theories to feel better about not being the one putting in all the work.

Because her day-to-day activities, mental state and literal physical appearance are their best arguments against the idea of climate change. Its literally all they've got. I'm all for doing something about climate change, but we need to start having real discussions about what climate change is and how exactly it will play out. Then we need to formulate what our response to that will be. Once you get to this point, you realize that Thunberg only functions as a motivational speaker and people holding her up as a messiah are some real idiots.

Combatting climate change is an incredibly complex thing. Remember that our entire economy is built the way it is and changing that to combat climate change can have its own negative effects we need to worry about too. We can't just suddenly take all cars off of the road and tear down and rebuild every single building out there.

"doing something" tends to mean were all going to die in 20 years unless we bankrupt the country and install heavy socialist policies.

as mentioned our whole way of life cant just be flipped on a dime like that. we have to take incremental steps which is going to take time and is something we are naturally working towards (albeit maybe not as fast as id like). regardless if things really are that bad then none of this really matters anyway. if we are all going to go into a new ice age or w/e in a few decades then pretty much nothing we do now, no matter how extreme is going to matter and stop this planet from the course its on.

You see this is what a reasonable response to climate change questions looks like. These are the discussions that need to happen.
