Yeah, I buy the Panera mac cups from Walmart just to save buck. They pretty much taste the same whether you microwave, pan-heat or pay for the restaurant to sous vide them. They're not exactly trying to hide it... I don't know why this is a big deal to some people.

I hate tacky, immersion-breaking paywalls in my games. At the same time, I get that development costs have gone up, development is way more complex than it used to be and the $60 upper price point hasn't budged an inch for inflation in 30 years.

$99 should be the new standard for SSS, all-content-unlocked, all-future-DLC games, imo. Just let me rip the band-aid off and enjoy a complete game, please.

A larger tax cut for the first two kids might be a good compromise. I'm not confident it would be enough to stave off population decline (which we're steadily marching towards), but there's enough time to try it and measure the results.

No, we need to encourage more parents to be at home with their kids during those formative years. Not more offloading of parenting to the state nannies.

My first save with Oblivion, I played blind, enjoyed exploring, didn't track stats... eventually I couldn't go anywhere because a fight with a common wolf on the road would take 20+ minutes because I literally couldn't deal damage any faster than that.

Leveling was straight up broken in that game. I installed OOO and never went back to vanilla.

There are cases like RDR2 where a goty contender really does have a soundtrack-of-the-year attached to it... but I also see a lot of "alright" soundtracks get heaped with praise for no apparent reason other than that the game was good, while some truly amazing soundtracks are completely overlooked because they weren't attached to prestigious games. Automata is one of those rare cases where the soundtrack got noticed despite the game having a relatively low profile.

It was worth it to me. Link's Awakening on GB was never one of my favorite LoZ games. Aside from a neat item-combination mechanic, the game felt clunky to me with the constant menu screen interruptions. The remake fixes the mechanical issues and other inconveniences, and it amplifies the atmosphere and setting (which were always the orginal's strong points). This version of LA has moved several spots up my own Zelda ranking.

Libertarian-aligned, Democratic ally. DC v Heller was correctly decided; guns cannot be universally banned (per 2A which is derivative of a right to self-defense) but states have broad leeway to regulate and/or ban some-- not all-- guns.

The perceived threat of gun violence far exceeds the reality and gun control does not address root causes. However, if this is what captures the public imagination and if gun control is one measure that has enough support to move forward, then I see no reason to throw a wet blanket on people's efforts.

All of that said, the root causes aren't especially well-understood and I'm in favor of aggressively funding CDC research.

Pthumeru, Ailing Loran and Great Isz are locked behind different main game bosses, iirc. Hintertomb is locked behind progression through Pthumeru.

Each of the four categories / themes can be played to completion once unlocked, with no further gating. In other words, once you've unlocked the first Pthumeru chalice, you can play that line to completion. You'll need to be thorough and clean out each dungeon though, or you might not have the necessary materials to craft the next one.

In my experience, my weight has always been my choice. When I chose to stop exercising without changing my diet, I gained 60 pounds. When I chose to start carefully counting my calories, I lost 60 pounds.

The science isn't perfect. You can count calories meticulously and still hit temporary plateaus from week to week. But your lifestyle dictates your weight over the long run unless you have some kind of exceptional medical condition.

Mind-body problem aside, it's totally volitional.
