Planners and City Council Members know (or should know better) that suburban sprawl and car culture aren't sustainable on a large scale. Sprawl brings in a lot of money while the roads are brand new and the city has land to grow into, but the infrastructure can't be maintained without strong commercial development and sales tax to subsidize it. Many, many suburban cities lose their battle with pavement maintenance, let the roads decay, and never find the money to fill in sidewalk gaps (often inherited from their county at the time of incorporation). I just think its icky that there are zero consequences for Will Smith's actions. He shouldn't be invited back next year. Smith's assault of Rock represents many things that people hate about Hollywood: unrestrained ego, untouchable privilege, sycophantic adulation (from the crowd), and inauthentic PR spin. None of these are a crime (unlike the assault itself), but they aren't exactly heroic qualities either. I agree, it's such an awkward name, but the game is so good that I can't really shake my head at it.
