I have to do a few more fights, but is it just me, or do the Chapter 2 boss fights have music that leads into the actual battle music? Like you confront the villain, and they have their own theme, then the battle starts and that music continues uninterrupted, and then it transitions musically into the battle theme?

Because if so, that is one of my new favorite things.

I don't recall the villains having unique themes (just like a pool of 2 or 3 that they share), but yeah, the transition from build-up into full-on battle music is badass. I especially love the version where drum and electric guitar layers come in as the fight starts.

Edit: actually, you might be right about them having unique instrumentation (re-listening on youtube now).

Some older videos I've seen of him make me question whether he really belongs as part of the so-called "intellectual dark web," but he seems more mellow in recent interviews. I get the impression that his interactions with Jordan Peterson, Sam Harris and Eric Weinstein have steered him towards a good-faith kind of mindset/approach. I probably still disagree with him on like 90% of the issues though.

Pretty much, yeah. It immediately opens up additional moves for no JP investment... plus the first two 30 and 100JP moves are really inexpensive by that point in the game.

I'm taking the story really slowly and I'm loving it. It doesn't feel like a grind at all. Even the economy (with tons of item priced well beyond your earning rate) is balanced in a way that makes exploration, stealing and the Merchant class feel really rewarding.

I had the wrong initial impression of how much content would be in this game and how high-quality my time with it would be. I was expecting something shorter, something to burn a little time between big game releases. Instead, it's one of the best games I've played this year.

I'm waaay behind everyone, but I finally completed the loop today and got all 8 party members. I'm exploring caves off the main loop, leveling up a bit before moving on to the Chapter 2s. My only complaint is that they lock in your initial party member... I'm finding that it's really hampering my ability to experiment.

I bought mine for Mario Odyssey. I'd say if you didn't own a Wii U then the Switch is a no-brainer, since the Switch has ports of some of the best, 10/10 Wii U games. It's also got portable Hollow Knight and some unique little indie titles like Golf Story and Celeste.

Octopath is a great game on its own-- certainly a highlight for me. The story I've seen so far doesn't have the tone or scope of FF6 but everything else about the game feels like the ultimate evolution of FF6 to me.

I decided not to buy a Switch + Octopath Traveler because I don't want to spend all that money simply to then waste a shit ton of time.

But I want to scratch my gaming itch a bit, so I decided to compromise with myself and buy something highly reviewed I can play on my laptop. >_>

I've played it on both PC and Switch and they're identical, other than the Switch version being inherently more portable. Use a controller if you're on PC though, imo.

I must have been in a funky mood or something when I played the demo... I wasn't into it at all. Bought the full version a few days ago and started on the opposite end of the map, with Therion. I love this game so much. I just picked up my 4th party member which means I've now replayed a good chunk of the demo sections, and I dunno wtf my problem was when I tried it out a few months ago.

I've been dying to play more but it's a busy month for me at work. Highly recommend.
