Sure, will do!

By the way, what do people do for controllers? I was thinking about buying extra controllers for split screen, but the pro controller is $70...which seems insane to buy in multiples.

There's a bundle right now. Switch + 1 game (I think it's between Zelda, Mario, Splatoon 2, and something else) for $329 at Best Buy.

There might also be something for Prime Day tomorrow.

Is this a limited time thing?

yes

Is this deal still running? I don't see it on Best Buy's site

For the record, I was wrong. Excerpt from 1926 where it's used in a different manner entirely:

"... the voting in other Republican states should hinge pretty largely on the issue whether Mr. Coolidge shall be permitted to become a lame duck president for the final two years of his term."

Note the conditional.

It turns out lame duck is just a dumb term that no one can really agree on an actual definition for. It's not even exclusively a timing thing because people will argue that being effective makes you not a lame duck.

Republicans at least had enough nuance to differentiate the two appointments. With proper context is a presidential election for lame duck president versus a midterm.

It bothers me that Republicans got away with completely redefining the term "lame duck" to suit their needs and everyone just accepted it.

Lame duck means the period after the election but before the next president has taken office. It doesn't mean the last year of a term or whatever period of time is deemed "close enough" to election.

Well, there's other cities they could send you in Korea that are still big, like Daegu or Busan. Daegu would probably not be a very interesting place to be.

If you teach in Korea, are they guaranteeing you'd be in Seoul? I was under the impression they just kind of send you wherever.

Seoul has a pretty amazing subway, but it's not 24/7 like NYC. It shuts down from around midnight to 5 AM. The bus system is also pretty damn good, and taxis are generally fairly cheap.

Crime is not a concern in Seoul for the most part. As far as weather goes, air quality is the main issue-- look up yellow dust. This is mostly an issue in the spring time, though.

Have a cocktail at Bar Benfiddich in Shinjuku. I suggest getting there right when around when it opens (7 PM or so) so you can get a seat at the bar.

Honestly it's probably my favorite thing in Tokyo (though I'm not super crazy about the city overall).

I haven't noticed significant lag-- not any more than any other wireless controller.

I have a set of four for playing couch multiplayer games on Steam and they work pretty well. My only complaint is the d-pad is not very good as a d-pad.

Yeah, it seems like the way that Medi-Cal and Covered California interact is awful. They basically don't talk to each other at all and will send you stuff in the mail that's dated 6 months in the past.

From what I can tell CC works okay as long as you never interact with Medi-Cal, but once you do...well...

I feel like areas in or closer to big cities tend to have better local restaurants, whereas chains tend to be the better option in more suburban areas. Probably in large part due to more stagnant populations with less outsiders.

Like, I'd never go searching for a good local place in my hometown. But now I live in an area where most local places are reasonably good or go out of business pretty quickly (though the ones that are good tend to go out of business anyway, just at a slower rate...)

Also chains definitely don't have the advantage of consistency, unless you count menu items being the same...and often times they don't even have all of the same stuff. There's four Taco Bells near me and one of them is super awful, while the rest range from okay to good.

Getting married in a few months.

Job has gotten increasingly stressful. It's compounded by the fact that the commute is like 2 hours. I work from home 2 days a week, but it's not enough to make up for that. I've been sort of looking for a new job, but I'm not sure I'll find one with comparable pay, since the money is pretty nice. But even then, it might be worth it since it's slowly sucking the enjoyment out of everything I like.

This is a great post, mc has far more patience than I do.

Ulti... what the hell is wrong with you? The guy I considered a good friend back in 2002 would never insult someone's family over something like this. Even if you weren't wrong about this (and others have done a pretty good job of illustrating this, so I won't pile on), it still looks terrible on you. Give yourself a look in the mirror, man. I don't even know if this is the real you or your stupid Board 8 persona any more, but it's not a good look.

By the way, my wife worked in oceanography as well, and I can pretty much assure you from attending events with her co-workers etc. that yeah nobody who actually studies this (without a clear agenda in mind) doubts that there is a clear connection between CO2 and temperature, or that we're putting a lot more CO2 into the atmosphere, or that the global temperature is rising (though how much is indeed difficult to measure). You can respond to this by saying "your wife and all her co-workers are idiots" if you want, but I'd suggest you think carefully about if that's something you actually want to do.

I think you're forgetting how old I am. In the 80s, we were told an ice age was coming. Then it was hilariously wrong.

Who said I'm defending the guy? I'm just using the same logic you use to say Trump and Roy Moore are innocent: all three said they didn't do anything wrong. You only believe what he did is wrong because he's a liberal, not for any sort of internal logic.

Abusing women is BAD, and BSDM is NOT normal. Deal with it.

Those are two completely unrelated things. And BSDM is not a thing. BDSM is very much a thing. You can't even get the acronym right. And it's super common, you're just living in a bubble. I just checked a porn website where over 300,000 videos on the site were labeled "BDSM."

When you cite a 2005 poll that says 2/3rds of Americans do not engage in the act, you destroyed your own credibility. It is not a common thing. It is a big fetish. But, fetishes by nature are not common things.

Wait, ignoring the argument for a second, you think 1/3 of the entire population fitting into a category makes that category uncommon?

Of course it does. Common means common. 1/3rd is not common.

Common refers to prevalence. It is more prevalent to not be done than to be done. Thus it is uncommon.

This is absolute nonsense and you don't know what that word means. Like, a straight up mistake in your knowledge of the english language. I though Vlado was the crazy foreigner!

You are just wrong. It refers to prevalance. When there is two options. 36% is not common.

Like I said, it is a common fetish. It is not common, however. Not engaging is common.

Ok, this might be the dumbest argument.

Not engaging is common. Engaging is common. Neither is rare, which is what you are implying by saying that one is not common.
