You guys are getting hung up on these corner cases about what qualifies as beating a game without realizing that it's a two-way street. Everyone who says that save states count more than likely has their own definition of what does and does not count as beating a game, and any boundary you decide on short of "They can't beat it unless they've played it" will always have some edge case that you "what about" to.

I would personally not consider it beating the game, but I would not go out of my way to tell anyone they didn't beat a game (also can't imagine this situation even coming up in real life). If I had beat a game with some sort of assisted gameplay feature, I'd probably include that when mentioning that I finished the game.

With that said...

StealThisSheen posted...
I'm specifically referring to people that feel the need to tell others "You didn't beat the game, you cheated," which I believe isn't you. That's where the whole "superiority" issue comes in. If you can just ignore it/not care, or atleast keep it to yourself, then yeah, there's nothing to it.

This is a real weird stance. So he's allowed to think it but not tell anyone what he thinks?

This argument is dumb mostly because categorization will always be imperfect (but people love to do it anyway-- see every single argument about genres), but it's also dumb to say that only one side has valid views on how to define this particular phrasing.

Dead of Winter does kinda suck. My impressions of it are much like yours-- lots of interesting ideas but in the end it's primarily just a bunch of die rolling.

I feel like there's a way to make it work, but the final product did not do that.

Aside from the ones that change the character's costume. Any changes to gameplay/stats?

If not, I don't really get the point of them in this game.

Playing the Switch version if that matters for some reason.

Just beat 5C. Felt really weird difficulty-wise. I died a whole bunch on the first screen, then like three times on the second screen, then a ton on the last. Also felt like a huge difficulty spike after 4C-- the last screen required a lot of precision with the wall bumps.

Finished it with 440 deaths.

Finally got around to continuing. Beat Chapter 2 C-Side, which was surprisingly easy.

Really not a fan of the long sections that are on the last parts of these C-Sides...does Chapter 9 have a lot of those? I'm really tempted to just do the second half of Chapter 9 instead of doing all the C-Sides.

I know people don't really talk about commander here, but just had a really great commander game where I essentially became the archenemy and managed to still barely squeak out a win with Kadena.

Ghastly Conscription drew me 8-9 cards and gave me got me all of my key morph creatures back, and Volrath copying someone else's Pathbreaker Ibex got me the rest of the way there.

Felt pretty great for what will probably be my final commander game of the year!

Chapter 8 B-Side was rough.

Beat the first C-Side in about 279 deaths. Now at 8292 total.

Should I try to beat the Chapter 9 part 2 first or should I try to do all of the C-Sides?

Sucks that you have a bad group. My current group is now around 1 year old and it's still incredibly fun because barely any of the decks run intentional infinites.

Amnesia

Spelunky
FTL

Terraria

Undertale

I mean, it's not all down to cost. Part of it is just that these are people that I like spending time with, and it's way easier to have spontaneous interactions with people when they are your neighbors.

Also I've lived with one of the dudes for like 7 years (renting) and we've built quite the bar...splitting that up would be too much of a pain so we might as well just go all in.

So it's essentially a 3 unit condominium that you guys all went in on and then divided up the individual units.

Four units because one couple owns two. It's not really condos because the process of turning the units into condos is apparently a bit of a pain in the ass, which is why we have a share of ownership rather than owning just our own units directly.

There's also some parts of the property that we're using as communal space.

How are you arranging to divide the equity in case someone needs to take off?

We have a Tenancy in Common contract that a lawyer wrote up for us that gives the other owners right of first refusal in the event something like that does happen. There's also a whole procedure where someone can sell their share to an approved person outside the TIC with approval from enough members.

It does admittedly get messy if neither of those options is viable though.

I don't know if there's anything that's objectively delicious, but for a non-drinker anything with a cream-based liqueur (ie Baileys) with probably be pretty easy to drink. Kahlua (coffee liqueur), Tia Maria (also coffee), and Frangelico (hazelnut) are also safe bets.

In terms of spirits, I would try to avoid bottom shelf tequilas (Jose Cuervo) and rums (Bacardi) as I feel like those tend to be the roughest.

Just got past the five locks part of chapter 9. Chapter 9 feels a lot more puzzley in terms of figuring out how the mechanics work and can be used to get past certain parts.

Question-- when it stops me for not having 15 hearts, is there a save point there? I assume there is, but wanted to make sure I don't have to repeat stuff needlessly
