And with absolutely no insight and backing it up with nothing more than anecdotal evidence, your statements come across as blind bias. I am sorry, I never meant to offend you or misrepresent your statements but that's how they come across to me.

Blind bias would have as much backing or insight as whatever is behind that opinion so regarding it as such isn't what I'd call an unfair representation of your argument, if that's the extent of what you were attempting to add to the conversation.

like, you agree that chains are consistent. a chain restaurant in one state tastes the same as the same franchise elsewhere. so it's fair for me to generalize "[the chains ive eaten at] suck [IN MY OPINION!!!!!!]" to the chains as a whole instead of the specific restaurant, which isnt really anecdotal

and i never made overreaching claims about local places

so

No it's not, you have your opinion and I have mine. I don't see why you are getting so upset over the fact that I don't find chains to be inferior to local places on average. Considering I work for Gordon Food Service as a delivery driver, I can assure you there are close to no differences between the ingredients, kitchens, and menus between chains and local places. Both tend to serve good food and are perfectly acceptable places to eat. Calm down.

I bolded all the relevant parts as response to this post

This doesnt apply to IHOb, but the value for chains IMO is the drive thru

I always eat alone because Im a recluse, so if Im eating out, Id much rather eat in my car and listen to a podcast.

Y'all are forgetting that you can just figure out which local places are bad by doing a quick google search before you go somewhere. That way you weed out all the bad local places and you're left with only the good places.

The larger chains often still have some good food, sometimes at a lower price too, so they have their place. But this talk about local chains being inconsistent and that's why you don't like going to any because only some are actually really good... well, it's kinda crazy. Just use google

The place I went to today often has an hour+ wait when I try to go on weekends.

Popularity is apparently NO indicator of quality.

I feel like areas in or closer to big cities tend to have better local restaurants, whereas chains tend to be the better option in more suburban areas. Probably in large part due to more stagnant populations with less outsiders.

Like, I'd never go searching for a good local place in my hometown. But now I live in an area where most local places are reasonably good or go out of business pretty quickly (though the ones that are good tend to go out of business anyway, just at a slower rate...)

Also chains definitely don't have the advantage of consistency, unless you count menu items being the same...and often times they don't even have all of the same stuff. There's four Taco Bells near me and one of them is super awful, while the rest range from okay to good.

Not automatically, but I'm far more likely to trust a place that has a lot of people there than a place that has few to none (especially on a Friday night)

This is possible. I work downtown in a big city, and have tried out tons of places on a whim of "this looks interesting," and I've only once had a bad meal. Some of these are local chains (Wow Bao, Firefin Pokeshop, M Burger) while others are just local.
