That's the goal once they are in power, when trying to gain power it's best to cause mistrust among the current power class and getting people to trust you instead.

Of course that doesn't make Clinton's examples any better...

Putting aside that she entirely prefaced it with examples of them in power, I still wouldn't agree with that. That's a means to an end. It's like saying that the goal of fighting a war is to fire bullets out of a gun.

I'm just trying to understand that paragraph. It seems like it was poorly written. The Soviets and 1984 were very careful with what was released by politicians/the media, there was little mistrust in a time when there should have been. She then appears to incorrectly relate this to Trump's push to cause mistrust in other politicians/media/experts.

It probably doesn't help that I don't know the context of the paragraph.

Melee taking an almost 7 point drop makes it harder to compare the performance of the other games. If we adjust Melee's performance in 2014 to match today and proportionally redistribute extra votes to the other games Metroid Prime becomes the biggest winner going from an adjusted 15.09% to 16.45%. Other games to have risen include Eternal Darkness (+0.47), Wind Waker (+0.45), Paper Mario TTYD (+0.29) and Super Mario Sunshine (+0.05). Outside of Melee Tales of Symphonia had the largest drop going from an adjusted 13.44% to 11.96%. Other games to have dropped include Pikmin (-0.75), Path of Radiance (-0.36) and Animal Crossing (-0.03).

To be fair Trump was never a hard Republican, most of his views are moderate/neutral. He just wants to get things done (win) and it doesn't really matter what gets passed.

The Republicans have already shown that they can't get things done, if the Democrats can get things done or the threat of him going to the Democrats gets the Republicans to group together then Trump will be happy to get the win.

Sanders’ effect on Clinton’s campaign would be interesting to talk about. He forced her to shift left in an attempt to unite everyone, but some of those people went “nope, not enough,” causing her to alienate independents that may have voted Democrats last election.

Would it have been a better idea for her to ignore the Bernie bros (especially since many of his supporters would have voted for her regardless) and continued to vie for independents votes?

The election was so close that you could make an easy logical argument that a male Hillary Clinton would have won, but there are so many what ifs that could have flipped the election that focusing on something that couldn't have been changed seems pointless. You knew ahead of time the deck was slightly against you and given the previous President it sometimes doesn't matter.

A new Ipsos MORI poll of 18,000 respondents across 25 nations shows that only 40% think the US has a positive influence on the world stage. That's less than China at 49% and not far ahead of Russia at 35%.

The US ‘approval’ rating has dropped by 24 percentage points since last year's survey.

Canada is seen as setting the best example with 81% of respondents saying it has a positive influence on world affairs. Australia and Germany complete the top three.

Is Kasich the best option for a challenge? Sure he was the last man standing, but he rarely looked like a viable candidate during the primaries. Honestly if it wasn’t for Christie exposing Robo-Rubio during the pre-New Hampshire debate I doubt Kasich would have finished second and despite finishing second he never gained traction. He finished fifth in both South Carolina and Nevada. Throw in a seventh place finish in Iowa and it was clear he should have dropped out before or just after Super Tuesday.

I do wonder if Robo-Rubio didn’t happen things may have been different or if his collapse would have happened anyway. Rubio kept bleeding support, but it never consolidated behind Kasich. If Kasich dropped out before Super Tuesday Rubio would have likely won Vermont and Virginia, creating a 5-3-3 result between Trump, Cruz and Rubio and it would have at least made Rubio appear to be a viable candidate.

This is a bit unfair. Most online polling is done in a location where people choose to go, which causes sampling issues.

Which is why polls are normalized. I'm assuming this was done by a polling firm and not some GameFAQs like poll of the day.

A sample of 650 isn't too bad either (assuming there was no bias in sampling), the error would be understandably larger (around +/- 5-6% IIRC).

The sampling was from online, not confirmed republicans, and was set for the 1325 to match correspond norms and not for the 650 to.

I can't see how that is not flawed inherently, whether the results are 0%, 47%, or 100%.
