Spoiler alert: the workers are the immigrants.

With a lack of immigrants doing farm labor (legal or otherwise), crops are literally rotting in the fields because farms can't get people to do the work. It's not "taking jobs away" from citizens if said citizens refuse to take them even when they're wide open. If you don't have a grasp of basic macroeconomics, don't talk about "jobs" like they're a commodity traded on the exchange market. It makes you look silly.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm staunchly opposed to human trafficking across the border. I hate that we have people on both sides of the paycheck screwing the system (albeit the workers are much more sympathetic). But the truth is that we only have so many resources for enforcement. Plenty of them are contributing to society even though they technically shouldn't be here. It's inefficient and ineffective to go after these people, especially the ones who had no choice in the matter (dreamers). Focus on the ones who are actually dangerous, especially the smugglers and "coyotes."

And before Ulti claims that DACA lied about who it helps, put up your resources or shut up.

This is one of the rare instances where the interests of the workers (the illegal immigrants) and the businesses (mostly farms) line up perfectly.

The businesses could get the labor they need and the workers get to make minimum wage and become eligible for benefits.

Literally, everyone would win with more liberal immigration laws.

Protecting who? Show me the group of people who want to work these jobs that can't find them.

There aren't enough workers to fill all the blue collar and service industry jobs that already exist.

People would not stay here if they weren't getting paid. They'd just leave.

I mean, it's definitely true that American Democrats are not always on the side of the worker. Tim Kaine supported "right-to-work" (anti-union) legislation, for example.

That said, in general, immigrant workers are only allowed to be brought in for jobs where there is a shortage of local workers willing to do the work. (That's why I, as a Canadian, am able to work in the US, for example. There's a shortage of computer programmers. In fact, the US still doesn't allow enough computer programmers over the border and Silicon Valley is angry about this).

By contrast, in sought after jobs where there is a surplus of local demand for the jobs (say, car assembly lines in Detroit) will hire damn near 100% American.

Yelling against policies that allow immigrant workers is...usually just flash with not a lot of substance. It's not exclusively a right-wing thing, either. Bernie Sanders did this (as an immigrant worker who leans pretty far left, my political leanings should make me like Sanders, but his stances on immigration were something I don't like about him).

For all of those (DACA) that are concerned about your status during the 6 month period, you have nothing to worry about - No action!

What does this even mean? Why bother rescinding it if you're not going to do anything? Or is he attempting to lull them into a false sense of security?

It's a 6 month delay on removing it.

That's exactly what it sounds like. Nothing happens until after 6 months.

To be fair Trump was never a hard Republican, most of his views are moderate/neutral. He just wants to get things done (win) and it doesn't really matter what gets passed.

The Republicans have already shown that they can't get things done, if the Democrats can get things done or the threat of him going to the Democrats gets the Republicans to group together then Trump will be happy to get the win.
