If they had their rally and no one came to counter them, then all you would have had was a bunch of idiots marching that would have been condemned.

Sorry but the whole my political side is allowed to be violent is not one I subscribe to.

If both sides were violent, both sides were the problem.

Should the rally have been allowed if Nazi, White Supremacists were involved. NOPE.

Should counter protestors have been allowed to converge on the site as close as they were? NOPE.

It is a huge failure of enforcement.

But neither condones violence on either side. Do I see why people would want to protest against White Supremacists? Absolutely. They are filth. Does that make you able to be violent in regard to them? NOPE.

If you want to punch a Nazi, then sure go for it. But, you accept the consequence of it which is an assault charge.

You condemn them. You arrest them when they are wrong. And you show why not being so is a better way.

The first part you said about who organized it and the purpose - that's all true.

But there's people who went that either a) we're not aware of this beginning, b) did not expect it to be actual Nazis and not people joking around, or c) were there to report on it from the inside.

I mean the former is pretty easy to see even in this topic alone. You and me are aware of it. Most of the topic still does not. If you assume the way it was advertised, "Unite the Right," had value then you could also show up and wonder wtf you got yourself into.

Like if you were actively marching with a tiki torch and chanting or going further than that okay yeah. But there's more examples than just that. Have no problem with the idea that you're mostly correct but there's a fair number who you aren't right against either.


Some aftermath reports on it... Police as expected were told to stand down and not interfere for the most part, it's viewed effectively as gang violence like I mentioned. Antifa took down the state flag and raised their own in it's place before burning the state one. They also were burning literal strawman crosses for some reason. Bit odd but okay. It's more than just "anti protesters" is all.
