This one time I had to stop at a gas station in a bad area of town. Open all night, movie theatre style checkout(slot to give and recieve money, glass(bulletproof), etc.

Whatever the hell the one clerk was making I'm going to assume is not enough for the risk factor involved.

But yeah, even in general I agree with mostly everybody here.

I don't think there is anything wrong for being nostalgic for the past in general.

But the forms this nostalgia take are kinda cringe sometimes. People wishing they lived in the 50s because you can't wear a suit and tie on a date to a drive in theatre in 2022 is cringe as heck, for example.

Seems like a great way to maximize cash-back. Good on you, bud.

The get 250 cash back for spending $500 was a "special" offer. Special in quotes because I don't know how special it is, but I had to input *personal codes* when I signed up. I've never seen an offer THAT generous and easy to complete. I've done $200 if you spend $500 before, but $250 for 500 is even better.

I figured adding in more cards into the mix could be confusing, but I've got it down now to where I understand what I need to use in every scenario, so it's alright.

I never thought I would be that guy, but I've turned into a churner. Not just to get rewards(spend X in 3 months and get Y cash back) but now I have a good lineup optimized for most scenarios

gas - card A has 4% back on gas
restaurants - Card B has 3% back on resaurrants
drug stores - card B has 3% back at drug stores
grocery stores - card A gives me 2% back at grocery stores
parking garages/meter parking - card C gives me 5% cash back on the highest spend category, which is used for parking as no other card gives me a benefit on parking

everything else - I have two 1.5% cash back on every purchase cards...

The parking card is going to give me $200 back after I spend $750(this is mainly on parking - purchases I'd be making anyways), one of the 1.5% cards will give me $250 back if I spend $500 in 3 months. For this one I will be buying one high ticket item to meet the goal and effectively get the $250 immediately(camera lens).

This isn't like, life changing stuff, but damn...I know there are churners out there who have their shit optimized to a much greater degree than I do, but this is pretty good i'd say

edit: a true churner would probably go an extra step further and get something like a citi double cash where you effectively get 2% back if you pay it on time, for general purposes not covered in a specific category, but I don't really want a fifth card.

"The Heat Death of the Universe" by Off-Minor.

This is screamo at it's finest, and one of the reasons everybody who likes harder music should give the genre a chance. It's got some nice elements of hardcore, but the slow it down in some songs...'This is a Hostage Situation" has a haunting end section, "Punch for Punch" is an instrumental triumph, "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" begins with a menacing yet groovy rhythm.

It's got 9 songs and it's 22 minutes long but there is a lot of stuff packed into it.

THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: Will you go to Heaven when you die? Have you lied, stolen, used Gods name in vain, lusted (Which Jesus said was adultery in Mt. 5-28)? If so, God sees you as a liar, thief, blasphemer, and adulterer at heart. If you die in your sins you will end up in a terrible place called Hell. But theres good news, Though we broke Gods law, Jesus paid the fine by dying on the cross. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes (trusts) in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (Jn. 3-16). Then Jesus rose from the dead and was seen by hundreds of eyewitnesses. if youve made it this far, please, repent and trust in Jesus and what he did for you on the cross. You have a promise from the God who cannot lie that he will forgive every sin youve committed or ever will commit and grant you everlasting life as a free gift

Usually when teams routinely fail, I want them to succeed. The Bengals are no exception. However, like Muscles said, Stafford getting a ring would be cool. How about Stafford this year and Burrow next year?

Though, as a Steeler fan, I'll never forget the playoff game wherein Cincinnatii was going to end the curse of the wild card until Burfict and Adam Jones costly last second penalties led the Steelers to a made FG to win it. Even a further layer to add on top of it, the Bengals scored all 16 of their points in the 4th, so it would have been an epic comeback, too. But even as glorious as the "Burfict Ending" was, I still feel for you guys. Until now, no playoff wins since....1990!?

All I need is .22 cents and I can cash out. I can't blame DOGE itself, I just made poor choices(though compared to some...people bought thousands of dollars worth in the 50s and 60s).

I guess nobody here knows but it will rise to that level again? It's just 8-9 cents higher than what its been at lately. Surely it can happen.

This is part of a series of coins featuring women with several designs, much like the state quarters.

The other women coming out this year are

  • Maya Angelou celebrated writer, performer, and social activist
  • Dr. Sally Ride physicist, astronaut, educator, and first American woman in space
  • Wilma Mankiller first female principal chief of the Cherokee Nation
  • Nina Otero-Warren a leader in New Mexicos suffrage movement and the first female superintendent of Santa Fe public schools
  • Anna May Wong first Chinese American film star in Hollywood

However, even if this was the permanent quarter design, I could think of people "more deserving" than the people you'd pick. Ultimately "deserving" just doesn't matter much.

As always, I love reading peoples thoughts about these things, specifically because I KNOW people are going to hate it. That's okay that people dislike something, of course, but I just knew people were going to hate it the second I saw one.

https://gl-news.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Maya-Angelou-first-black-woman-to-be-featured-on-the-quarter-coin-in-U.S..jpg

My thoughts: From finding one in person, the minting quality gives off something to be desired. Like the quality control isn't as good as it used to be. Not to unlike the 2021 quarter with Washington Crossing the Delaware. Quarters become more worthless every year, so it's no surprise they need to cut corners where they can.

Maya Angelou: I like it. I really do. It's different and unique, and I don't mind it.

Washington: Ehhh....that part I don't like so much. His portrait is kinda awkward and too big. His face looks out of proportion. Not so much a fan of this side.

What makes me laugh are the people going "who?" over Maya Angelou. I don't expect everybody to know who she is, but I guess it's like most times when somebody of note is being talked about, it's isn't hard to google who it is instead of looking like an idiot.

Overall, I kinda like it. It is funky at the same time, but that's alright.

I don't actually care that Bonds took steroids...lots of players in that era took steroids(nevermind the players from previous eras that took other kinds of supplements and drugs), but Barry Bonds became one of the most feared players of all time. He was walked an absolute ton and got on base a ridiculous amount of the time. In bases loaded situations, some teams would actually opt for walking Bonds and letting a run score automatically.

Yeah, I get it. Steroids and cheating. But a LOT of other guys took steroids in that era, but who actually transformed into one of the most feared players of all time? Perhaps considered the greatest to ever play outside of Babe Ruth.

edit: and yeah, as somebody said, even before he took steroids and grew a head 3 times the size of a normal human head, he was probably going to be a HOFer. It just seems pointless to keep him out.

So I thought a HUGE map size with 1 AI opponent would be kinda fun...give myself unlimited money(with caveats...can buy settlers and buildings but no other units or tiles), but it's been a bore. After like 10 cities I kinda don't even see the point. I've got scouts aplenty(plus my first scout I gave them like 20 promotions to get everything they could) but I havent even seen his lands yet. My scouts have seen their scouts but that's about it.

I thought this would be more interesting than it is. I think I may just buy all the tiles I can get right now for my cities and then just continue for a little.

I kinda feel like for a 1v1 duel to be fun you not only need a smaller map, but also you need a human opponent.

The AI gave me Nebuchadnezzar as my foe. I chose Ramses to get the Wonder production bonus because I wasn't going to be cheating for those. Neb is outpacing me in science by a bunch but I am holding my own otherwise. I know Neb is a science civ for sure, but being able to build everything as soon as it's available doesn't seem to be closing the gap in terms of tech.

Cheating isn't wrong at all. However, for me, with Civ V, it is a challenge but I felt like as I learned more strategy and technique I could be successful. So, that is why I said it felt wrong, but it isn't really wrong. I can stop cheating at any time, certainly, but I know sometimes cheating does ruin some aspects. I've played football manager before with players edited to have 20s in all attributes, and it does kind of sour the normal game experience in some ways because no player in the game is going to be that good, so you know how well players who are "perfect" do. It's as if you've seen perfection so nothing else can compare. BUT I have loads of fun in FM anyways because in game and external editors are included with the game(external) or $5 download(internal) but both are licensed and provided Sports Interactive themselves...it's meant to be played however you want.

I guess my fear is, after using this editor, can I go back to playing vanilla? I can stop cheating, but if I get super annoyed at basic tenets of the game like accruing culture points to spend on policies...I don't know. But cheating means I get no satisfaction from doing well. I may be having fun, yes, but satisfaction and accomplishment are different.

Ultimately that was a huge jumble of word salad I'm not even sure if I got out the point I wanted to get out. I'm actually sorry for having you read that, PO(but of course I wasn't going to appologize ahead of time, see...)

What this means sometimes is once I cheat to this level(have never cheated in civ v before except saving before i go to war in case i severely miscalculated my forces), I can't go back. Not because cheating gives me great power and I feel like I couldn't be a successful player before...in a game like civ cheating honestly feels wrong. BUT once I see the extent of how badass I am, playing it normally will make me feel like "aww shucks, why don't I have every social policy from the start?"

Maybe though this will accelerate me getting into Civ 6 which I have bought but immediately stopped playing almost right after I saw the icons were in different parts of the screen to five.

this is kind of a shitshow.
