solo works:

"the main" off of his first solo album, Intolerance. This is a track describing his trials with drug addiction, once again showing off not only his vocal power, but also his ability as a poet. I particularly like the line "There was life on the corners and death all around"

"2541" is a pretty cool pop tune about yet again moving into a new apartment. Probably wont be the last time. definitely showing his pop sensibilities here

"Nobody rides for free" Not much to say about this one but I like it, from his second solo album "good news for modern man"

"Youre the reflection of the moon on the water" this sounds like a 60s inspired rock tune. this is pretty catchy and dance-y

The next selection of tracks comes from his final album, released in 2013 called "the argument". This is a concept album about John Miltons paradise lost as filtered through the mind of friend William S Burroughs.

"I will never see my home"

"Letting me out"

"is the sky the limit"

and thats it. least i could do for the guy is get him a new fan or two

"Terms of psychic warfare" this song has good lyrics. song sounds bitter, i think i used this as a breakup song once years ago. "Now all the silver you can steal can't buy a piece of what I feel"

"Don't want to know if you are lonely" I own this song on a record where one side is the HD version and the flip side is a green day cover.

"You can live at home" last track of the last husker du album. Grant and Bob were great musicians, but i felt like they...not really hated each other, but they had a rocky relationship. After the band broke up they didnt speak regularly(but seemed to in recent years at least on business to iron out the direction of their bands merch and music), Ive heard the final two songs on this album were written for the other guy kind of like a "see ya" type thing. I dont know.

Well if you guys or anybody cares here is a list of some good songs from the guy, with husker du, and also solo. it is also worth noting he played drums and sang at the same time. You dont see that too often, i dont think

"Diane" off the 1983's "metal circus" EP. Creepy track about the rape and murder of a woman

"Never Talking to You Again" biting lyrics in an acoustic song from a hardcore punk band

"pink turns to blue" another creepy sounding song with angelic vocals about a girl who overdoses:

"Turn on the news" This song was selected by the rock and roll hall of fame as a song that changed rock and roll. This is more shouty rock song, but also has good lyrics

"New Day Rising" Usually in husker du you knew who wrote a song by who sung it. this is sung by Bob but was likely a collab effort. this is, IMO the best high energy rock song ever and you can hear Grant ferociously banging on the drums like a mad man:

who dat

Drummer/songwriter for one of the most influential punk bands of all time, Husker Du. Two of their albums, Zen Arcade(an 80 minute, 23 song concept album), and New Day Rising are usually ranked on lists of best punk albums ever, and I like them a lot.

To show their influence: billy joe of green day and dave grohl(talking about nirvana) have said their bands wouldnt exist without husker du. It could be said the grunge explosion and grunge itself never attains the heights it did without husker du, but thats just my own speculation.

If you feel like listening to some new music, I would try those two albums out. "New Day Rising" is a more straightforward punk/power pop album, which I would rec first, then if you like it, check out zen arcade, a punk album that throws in the bathroom sink. Blistering hardcore, tender moments, acoustic guitar, piano, a psychadelic track with the tune of "i want candy" copied, and a 17 minute free jazz outro. The song "Turn on the News" (written by Grant Hart) was included in the rock and roll hall of fames list of songs that shaped rock and roll.

So, uh, yeah, I found out from a comment to a Nova Mob song i uploaded to youtube years ago, and I was shocked. I havent been keeping up with him outside of new albums so I didnt know he was in poor health, but damn.

Husker Du is favorite band of all time. Zen Arcade is my favorite album, and New Day Rising ranks top 5. Mould always seems to get most of the praise, but Hart wrote some fuckin' good songs. Two that come to mind off of Zen are Never Talking to You Again and Pink Turns to Blue.

His solo albums are also good, as was his work with Nova Mob. The one good thing to come out of this is that his work will now have a greater focus on it, because he deserves it. Mould wrote the daily show theme song, achieved actual success with Sugar, had a big tribute show in his honor(though Hart had a tribute show a few months ago as well), and sung backup on a Foo Fighter song. But Hart was the guy who would really write a tune to make you feel. He's the guy who would rip your heart to shreds.

I paid tribute to Grant today by writing next to my Husker Du tattoo the English answer to the question of Husker Du(Do you remember in Swedish): I remember.

And I Will never forget.

To quote the song "the main" off of his first solo album:

The main, the main, remember the name
remember the things you and I became.

And really, I only started listening to Husker Du when I was 18, and not even in high school, but Grant, and the band, taught me so much. I even know a woman who named her son Grant, as tribute to the man.

This song is awesome and everybody should listen to it. A masterpiece from an amazing poet:

I cant recall exactly what was going on because i forget dreams, but i remember helping a customer out, thinking that was the end of it. Then they ask me again for help, but this time they arent happy. I imagine this customer is just one of those people that when they get slightly upset they get really pissed. Okay, so whatever I am doing to help them out they are just complaining the whole time. Then when they check out they had an item that wasnt allowed to be sold. It was an action figure that must have made it on the shelf somehow before the street date. So they knew this somehow and wanted it, even though they said a manager couldnt help them. I dont know. So I ask if they knew the price and they did so I just made up something and type it in. This doesnt make them happy even though I gave them something I shouldnt have, but of course they take it. Then, as they leave I notice they had a second cart of a few items like a 24 pack of soda, they(her family was there but in dream i only recall the mom being a complaining whiner) forgot to take with them. Why I didnt say anything I dont know, but they left and the rest of the dream is me worrying about when they come back and this woman absolutely tears into me because of the left behind items. Which would technically be my fault as I knew it was left but somehow didnt say anything. Then I woke up before they came back.

Weird thing is, they say people in your dreams are people youve met in real life, and the person playing bitchy customer was actually a woman I've waited on before, but ive never seen her be rude or anything. Kinda odd dream self wouldnt pick an actual bitch to play bitchy customer.

Now see, the way I experience retail, I dont see this stuff happening all that often. I actually woke up and had to remind myself none of this happened.

Ive got an amazon prime rewards card which I have almost $25 in credit and a capital one venutre card I have 14,000 rewards miles in, enough for a cheap two way flight to certain places in the US.

use your credit cards intelligently if you can and they pay you, not the other way around.

I am looking to get a new credit card with better benefits but I havent decided yet. a citi 2x cash back card seems like a good choice.

You can have the league evolve, but I usually disable it because I like to keep what i started with, and if I am using real MLB teams you get expansion that doesnt make sense, like in a few years you could have the Rochester Polar Bears join Major League Baseball.

The pitching in this league is a little weird, because I wanted it so. Teams are using 3 man rotations with some relievers, but relief usage is set to low. kinda like early 20th century baseball sorta.

Xw7ATUr

O_O;

mother of god. Only three pitchers have a career WAR worse than his season there. So that means if the team replaced him with a band old average player whose contributions and negative contributions would even out, theyd stand to gain 21 wins.

I am down for doing another PotD sim, but I want to make it more interesting. I dont know what I would do. I mean, before it was just 100 years and champions, but I can change the league to do whatever the fuck I want: as many or as little games per season, as many teams, split the divisions however much I want, playoffs however I want...fuck I can even change the entire league composition to allow for more/less hitting.

Ive done both before: amazing pitchers and awful batters: the norm would be for games to go way beyond 9 innings, sometimes 50+ simply because the league average pitcher is gonna have an ERA of below 0.50, and a batter would be lucky to bat .100. I've also done leagues where pitching sucks and batters are awesome. scores like a mens softball league were common: 45-50. pitchers with ERAs well into quadruple digits, walks and homers left and right. normal batting average well over .500.

I can choose any season and replay it, I can start in historical years and advance like I did before all the way back to the 1870s.

the game is kinda sandboxy, I just need to come up with an interesting idea that people, even non sports fans could enjoy, that also might produce interesting results. Outside of Rosclaire being overtaken by i forget who, and I think Helly being a distant third, there wasnt a whole lot of tight races.

Though to be fair IRL the yankees have by far the most championships with i think 23.

any ideas would be welcome. I figure this could be interesting to do as playoffs approach.
