people unironically believe this shit?

I mean... I've still revisited DKC2 more than any other game in the series. The music and general tone of the game make it my personal favorite. And I'd argue that it had the best level design of any platforming game in its original time.

But just on that one metric-- level design-- the Retro games are much more clever about their collectable placements and the way the environments give you clues.

DKCR is notable for its level design-- second best behind Tropical Freeze. It's a great game but make sure to play one of the ports; the original on Wii has forced waggle-to-roll which cripples the time trial mode.

While I'm not suggesting Clayburn Griffin is a idiot, a blue checkmark tweeting stupid shit can sometimes be a sign of idiocy. So you shouldn't assume someone isn't an idiot just because they own a verified twitter account. They may very well have one because they're an idiot.

Sakurai himself refused to call it a fighting game.
That's because Sakurai is a new genre of game designer called strand developers.

Punch-Out!! is more of an action puzzle game, imo.

But yeah, Smash is 100% a fighting game. It stands apart from the rest of the genre in the sense that it isn't a rigid clone of other fighting games, and it hasn't been successfully copied (maybe the closest any game has come was PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal).

Wanda wasn't portrayed as a hero. We're still able to root for her because of the trauma she's been through, the love she has for her family, and the sympathy that the real heroes (Vision, Monica, Darcy) feel for her... But the show was pretty explicit about how she tortured that whole town and didn't exactly end on a positive note for her character.

I wonder how they would make a Wanda movie. Shes so overpowered.
Elevating Wanda makes everyone else seem vulnerable again, which is a plus, imo. Doctor Strange needed to be reeled back in so he can face some real threats besides lake water. And with the Nexus concept formally introduced, it feels like Wanda can easily be dethroned at any time.

To put it a slightly different way... Agnes teaches us the rules for magic in the MCU. Outside of one Doctor Strange movie (and putting aside any foreknowledge based on the comics), we didn't know very much about the mechanics of magic and what makes it different from all the other kinds of powers we've seen up until now.

The DNC campaigned against Bernie in 2016 in a really gross way... but it didn't change the outcome.

As for 2020... the DNC had nothing to do with it. The moderate wing of the party coordinated a mass drop-out so that Biden would have a big enough coalition to overtake Bernie. This most likely swung the outcome, and while it may have been a disappointing turn of events for some, it was absolutely fair.

I've heard the second game is better. Should I even bother with the first?

The first is a pretty straight-forward FPS with imaginative weapons, enemies and worlds. The second has shades of Metroid Prime in it, in the way that progression and powers work. Turok 2 is the better game by every measure, but I still found the first to be plenty enjoyable.

The Turok remaster from Nightdive is a really solid remaster-- no frills, just a faithful (to the original intent) port with smart, tasteful technical fixes. Can't comment on their Turok 2 remaster; haven't played it yet.

Good town, good story, good characters (other than Fi), good overworld theme, good effort coming up with new items. The structure, pacing and repetition are really a drag though, imo.
