Yeah writers these days don't seem to understand the concept that if you are writing a story with a world filled with aliens and magic and superheroes then the social aspect of society will be different then our own.

They did the same thing on Disignated Survivor in season three. Like seriously, the story is that a bomb blew up the capital building during the State of the Union killing off the entire government, no one is going to give a shit about half the crap they wrote about. That and they moved to Netflix so all of a sudden all the characters discovered swear words for the first time and used them more then an edgy 13 year old. There's a reason why this was by far the worst season and it then got canceled.

MCU still has the same history as our own. Superheroes didn't become a public thing until the events of Iron Man.

I don't really agree with your premise that aliens and magic would suddenly make people not racist (especially considering half the world wasn't around for the most significant part of that experience). But even ignoring that, the plotline in regard to Isaiah and Sam originated before aliens and magic were commonplace in the MCU. I'm not really seeing why anything would change?

Because in the MCU aliens attacked in 2012, that's going to freak people the fuck out. Then a killer robot tried to murder the world. Aliens attacked again about six years later and then all off a sudden half the world's population literally turned to dust and disappeared. Then five years later they all of a sudden just reappeared again from thin air. Do you really think people are going to be like well, thats all well and good, but I gotta hate those black guys. That's the priority.

I'm not saying all racists everywhere will just stop being racist, but when major world changing shit like that happens regular issues don't mean anything anymore. If that happened to our world over the next 11 years I seriously doubt we would be hearing much from any racist groups at all. Plus that line about America won't let there be a black Captain America is kind of bullshit. America elected a black president. Then re-elected him.

You're underestimating how much hatred racists have inside of them. And you're also overestimating how logical people in general are. We've had some pretty earth-shattering events in our history-- including some that wiped out 30 - 60% of entire continents-- and yet here we are. I enjoyed the plot of Watchmen too but it's not doctrine.

It's kinda funny, his whole rogues gallery is literally a whole variety show of "anti-American" political ideologies. Like how Spider-Man and Batman's villains are all animal-themed. Cap's are all fascists, communists, or whatever who all want to destroy America.
