You might already be aware of this, but a common problem people have is that they're not replaying the correct floors. Each scroll appears within a certain range, with Dwarf Scroll IV appearing in the deepest levels of the mine.

I wish Bethesda wasn't so focused on making games set in bleak worlds I don't want to visit. I wish we didn't have a The Last Guardian sized wait between Elders Scrolls games.

For a time, The Elder Scrolls displaced The Legend of Zelda as my most anticipated franchise, but that's been flipped back with the recent release of BotW (and with ES in stasis).

I had a ton of trouble with both of those and saved 'em for last. With the Trial of Fools (coliseum), I kept dying to the final boss. And the Path of Pain (platforming level) goes way, way beyond the bar set by the rest of the White Palace.

Kathleen Kennedy should step down after Episode 9. She's had problems with every single director-- even JJ at first, until they smoothed things over. She also has no vision and/or no interest in an interconnected Star Wars cinematic universe. Star Wars needs someone like Feige at the helm.

That said, Bob Iger appears to be panicking and I'm concerned that he's laying this all at the feet of Kennedy. It's been rumored that Iger is the one who pushed Solo into May (abandoning the lucrative Christmas flagpole SW planted, three years running). It's also been reported that Disney imposed severe restrictions on SW merchandise at brick and mortar stores in order to clear the way for Infinity War... but they wouldn't have had to worry about cannibalizing their other properties if they had just kept Solo in December to begin with.

The one thing I'll say for Kennedy is that she knows how to salvage a mess... most of the time. None of the modern SW films had any business turning out as well as they did, considering what they went through. Problem is, Kennedy is responsible for making those messes in the first place. Iger, on the other hand, doesn't seem to fully understand what went wrong and what his role was in it.

Season 2 would have been more enjoyable as a binge watch, imo. Season 1 gave us a steady drip of interesting revelations, while Season 2 saved 90% for the final episode. Also, they went a little too far with the chronological editing salad, for my taste. I enjoyed engaging with Season 1, but with Season 2 it felt like homework, having to deconstruct their editing bay every week.

These criticisms, taken together, are symptoms of a larger trend in TV and film today: storytellers are so bent on surprising the audience and guarding their twists that they'll sacrifice anything to do it.

True enough. For evidence, look no further than the propaganda campaign Fox News is running against Mueller. Mueller has run an air-tight operation and has been completely silent, but that hasn't stopped Trumpists from trying to smear him anyway. Mueller's given them no ammunition, only subpoenas, indictments and other official court filings. It doesn't matter. Trump's base-- the unshakable 30-something percent-- are absolutely immune to fact and reason. Attempting to cater to them is a worthless endeavor.

Super Metroid invented a genre. Stripping away all historical context though, Hollow Knight does everything better, imo. Super Metroid is a 10/10 but the combat and platforming have aged poorly.

I know this is kind of a dickish thing to say, but... I don't get how this sentiment caught on so strongly. Multiple people say it every time the topic of Roseanne comes up. But the thing is, dozens of TV shows are cancelled every year and nobody cares except in the case of the occasional cult classic.

I guess it sucks a little more for the crew of Roseanne because most of them were extremely competent at producing a show. I don't like to see people fail in spite of their merit either. I dunno.

Solo wasn't that bad, imo. I loved the worldbuilding, in fact. I think the film got punished hard at the box office for the sins of TLJ and poor timing / marketing.

Unfortunately, I think this comes back to Kathleen Kennedy. She's had disputes with every director and has no apparent long-term vision for the Star Wars universe. Kennedy should finish Episode 9, Disney should find a new Feige to replace her, and then they can ramp up production again.
