Am I the only one who was disappointed in the final boss and ending?

When I founght Baldur (again), I never realized he was the last boss. I kept thinking that the real boss would show up. Like Odin or Thor. It just felt exactly like the other fight you had with him.

Also the ending was pretty meh. The revelations didnt really do much for me. I kept hoping wed meet more characters from Norse mythology. I was sad there werent more boss fights too.

Dont get me wrong, I really enjoyed playing the game. I loved the exploration aspect, the character development, gameplay, etc. I just feel like it was missing some of the epicness from previous games.

To be fair, the first GoW also only had one god that you constantly fought.

In the sequels I don't doubt we're gonna get crazy battles with Thor.

I just wanted a story of a dad and his boy and that's what I got, now that their relationship is established and solid, it's time to bring in the big boys

I agree. Epic boss fights wouldve made the game perfect imo.

I really enjoyed my time with it anyway tho l

I dunno, I like how it was a basic story about a father and son trying to fulfill their wife's/mom's final wishes, and found conflict and understanding along the way

subsequent titles can focus on bigger picture stuff like Thor, Odin, and Freya looking for revenge, and the consequences of Kratos and Atreus will have to face by expediting Ragnarok...and Atreus' nature, and him being Loki, of course.

go back to the house and sleep btw... something cool happens

agreed. I loved the Kratos/Atreus relationship. I thought it was perfectly done. The actual story and revelations did nothing for me. But the reveal of him being Loki was pretty cool, didn't see that one coming.

I really didn't care for that game. The first Baldur fight was 1000x better than the rest of the game.

Reusing the same 2-3 puzzle types ad nasuem was annoying and most enemies being health sponges made Kratos feel the weakest he's ever been by a considerable margin

What difficulty were you playing on?

Oh yeah I did go back to the house. Cool scene but it wasnt enough imo. I liked their relationship as well and how it progressed. Im not saying it was a bad game but it did leave me wanting a bit more from it.

Also Atreus being Loki just doesnt do much for me, considering they arent really sticking to the lore - what with making Odin and Thor evil and all that. I mean, it was like oh, thats cool but that was about it for me.

Im looking forward to the sequel for sure.

Oh yeah I got really tired of puzzles being gateways to literally everything. Sometimes I just want to open a damn chest and go on my merry way lol

So before I took a break from CE, I was pretty buttmad at how this game was shaping up. I didn't like the change in ganeplay, or the whole son aspect - my reasoning was that it felt like they were gonna kill Kratos and have you play as the kid as the next God of War. I like the dumb beat-em-up PS2/P/3 titles, and I didn't think God of War needed to mature or be reimagined as a whole new thing. I made a massive maximum-character rant about it a year or two before it came out.

I never thought I'd be as wrong as I ended up being. I didn't play the game, because it just isn't the sort of game I'd really like to play - but I did watch my friend play it on his PS4, and it was really fucking good to experience. Shout-out to the Blades of Chaos reveal and Athena's minor cameo - I was really fucking drunk when this part happened, and I lost my shit.

Nah game was perfect. Baldur was great and the scope of the last fight was completely satisfying, especially Atreus' contributions in those scenes.

They're definitely holding cards for the sequel(s), but I was satisfied with the arc we got. The game showed restraint (in a very narrow sense of the word, lol), in a smart way.

You haven't seen Odin nor Thor act that way whatsoever yet tho. Just some hearsay bickering from a severed head. :P Common theory is Thor will likely end up on your side for the next game too due to Ragnarok incoming.

The only animalistic jackass so far was Baldur.

Odin did lots of shit, Loki calls him out for not being too far off.

Thor other than his ridiculous hatred for Giants is chill and anything he does is pretty much because they started it.

This game makes them ridiculously evil while making the Giants clean.

Really the one thing that annoyed me about it actually.

I really did enjoy the game other than that.
