And? The US doesn't have to copy Canada's health care system. Single-payer works very well in enough countries that the US can easily find a better country to model it after.

I'm just pointing out that people think the US system is as bad as Canadas when it comes to waiting time alone when its not even comparable outside of your remote towns, that's all.

You realize that's also happening here in the US too right? To see a specialist you have to wait months. When I wanted to go to a cardiologist I had to wait months for an appointment and I ended up going to the ER and telling them I thought I was having a heart attack instead to get checked.

Your name really is fucking apt.

Not to agree with the OP but its not even close to the same. I waited 16 hours with a broken foot only to not be seen here in Canada, all because our health care system can't afford to pay for a second doctor for overnights. Meanwhile my cousin can walk into any doctors office in the States with his insurance plan, and not only get seen, but get set up for an X-Ray that same day, when I could be waiting over a month. If I didn't have my own family care doctor, I'd be screwed. And by the by, family care doctors are extremely rare where I live. I was lucky when my family care doctor retired that all his patients got moved to the replacing doctor.

I've known people to be put on a waiting list for over a year for an extremely important surgery, only for it to be cancelled without their consent because the surgeon decided to take a holiday, and that's the only surgeon in the province that can perform that one surgery.

I'm not saying the States doesn't have issues, you guys most certainly do. You pay way too much for basic quality of life medicare, but at the same time, all our nurses, doctors and surgeons are moving there because the pay is vastly more than here.

Jeremy517 posted...
News flash: You have to wait for months to see a specialist in the US too.

Single-payer healthcare works well in many countries. The US pays far more for health care per capita than any other country, but doesn't receive quality of care representative of that cost.

We don't wait months. Sometimes we wait years.

Not horrible. I don't make a huge amount of money but I have spending cash. I'm forced to live with my parents due to the ridiculous fees associated with purchasing a property. I can afford a 1500 CAD rental property with money to spare each month, but a 250K home which outside of taxes/insurance costs less than 1300 CAD I can't afford? That makes no sense.

Beans easily. Keep one in hand for me, give one to my mom, and then give it to someone else who really needs it (family, friend, stranger). Will just donate 2-3 every year..Much better feeling than 500k a year.

I would choose beans over a billion dollars.

Plus there are work arounds to this whole "You can't sell, trade the beans". I learned that recently with my CPAP company. I have to buy a new CPAP machine as my insurance is running out and the machine is 4 years old now. I can grab one off Amazon for 1200, but no one in my province will service the machine. What my CPAP company did and this is very smart of them, they sell the machine for cheap, but what they really sell is a service. So I can pay 1200 for a machine no one except me can touch; or I pay 2500 for a service bundle that they will cover entirely for the rest of my life.

Ergo, While you can't make money on the beans themselves, you can technically make money on the interview to see the best candidate for the beans, or alternately a subscription service for something entirely different and the beans are a bonus for that service.

A good Subway is amazing (if it's clean, if the produce doesn't look like shit, if all the equipment works, and most importantly, if they have good sandwich artists) because you can get a sandwich freshly toasted exactly the way you want (if you go in). A bad Subway is bottom tier.

In the last few years, Subway has really put together a much tastier menu. And, they have an app with decent rewards.

I'd have to get rid of Dominos. The only reason people get it is because it's always the cheapest pizza option, and it shows. If it wasn't an option I wouldn't miss it at all.

Only if you use the coupons. Without the coupons Dominoes at least here is the most expensive option. A standard pizza without coupon is close to 45 bucks CAD.

No judgments.

I'll start: I thought Everything Everywhere All At Once was mediocre to bad at best

Kind of agree. I much rather Jet Lis "The One". Less goofy, but still got the idea of a multiverse over. I also think one of the most under rated films was "Along Came a Spider", which starred Morgan Freeman in a detective movie that went literally everywhere. Even at the end after they found the culprit I was asking myself "Are they really the culprit? Or are they just another plot twist?".

My hot take is that the best film in the Rings/Hobbit/Potter franchises are the 1st ones. The argument can be made for Chamber of Secrets, but after that the franchise goes downhill. It makes a case for the entire thing to be animated, if only to keep the entire thing consistent.

And I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the funniest films ever created, meanwhile the Hangover was one of the worst comedy films I've ever seen.

The prices of games are mostly pretty fair. You're getting at least 50 hours at least for the majority of games these days via a lengthy single or unlockable side content.
That number doubles if you replay the game multiple times.

Compared to going out. Go out for drinks these days and you'll spend hundreds of dollars getting smasher at a bar that lasts for about 6 hours of fun time.

Gaming is honestly very cheap. Especially if you just wait for sales and.

In America its cheap. Not in Canada. If your waiting for sales sure, that's pretty much the only time I can get games. But even then its still really bad. I just bought Ys 9 for 45% off. It cost me 50 CAD after tax. And that's just an example of the bs that goes on with our dollar. There's a big reason people are moving away from here to other countries.

And while you are technically getting more value from Gamefly, I don't need a game for a month to beat it. Give me 4 solid days to beat it, as I work from home and have a lot of free time between duties.

Sleep Apnea can affect your memory and leave you confused if your not getting enough sleep during the night. I would go to bed at 12, and even by 9 I only actually slept 1/2 hr, so I was constantly forgetting things, getting confused. Yes, most of the time it has to do with weight, but there are cases where skinny people just don't sleep properly, and when you don't get enough REM sleep, your mind starts to play tricks on you.

RIP. I lost my father and brother within 4 months of each other at the end of last year. Its awful. Surround yourself with as many loved ones as you can.

It's a hard thing to see. My uncle passed last year, he was really sick. Kidneys shut down and was on dialysis. His last wish was that he would have one last Christmas with his family who were all over the country. Which he got. The day his son flew back to Ottawa, he was put in Paliative care. We figured at the time he had maybe a month left to live. But sadly, that wasn't the case. He passed that night at 1 in the morning. He knew his time was up. Luckily he managed to get most of his pre-death things done. But dealing with banks after a death is just ridiculous. It's like the people you talk to can't understand that the person they are looking to speak with has passed, even after you tell them 3 times.

My great aunt died last year, and within a day her sister died. We figure it was broken heart syndrome. They were fairly old, one was 97 the other I think 93. But we always remember that one of them was never allowed to go shopping with anyone. Not because she wasn't a nice person, but because she was someone who was impatient and would purposely skip lines and argue with cashiers when she was told to get to the back of the line.

One of them tried to guilt trip me because my co-worker went home at his scheduled time, all because they chose to change his time off from 10 to 10:30 literally the night before, after hours, and didn't bother to tell him.

We ended up getting back at that boss though, my entire department mass quit the day I left to go back to college. Not because of me, but because that was a happy coincidence. I went back there a couple months ago to pick some stuff up, and turns out they only have 1 person working my department because everyone else refused to work there. Now they are losing people left right and center.

Sorry to hear that. As someone who lost his birth mother in the past couple years, its hard to deal with. I was fortunate in that we weren't especially close, but we were close enough that it did hit me. One thing that helped my family in the hard time was taking something that she loved and making something of it to remember her by. For us it was a blanket she had on her bed, which we had turned into small couch cushions that could be divided amongst her sisters/mother and me.

It made us feel like she was still near us, even when times are tough.
