Just wanna say that if you can't find enough games to like on PS+ to justify the price, it's because you don't enjoy games. That's valid, but has the same energy as complaining that a steakhouse is lacking because you're a vegan.

Could just have pretty niche interests. I'm like that with games, even in genres I like, I won't necessarily like a game in that genre. But I do like some games enough to put thousands of hours into them.

Canadian dollars

Fellow Canadian here. I used to buy NES, SNES and Genesis games for $99CAD. I also still have a Sears Christmas catalog that says "Get the New Sega Saturn! Only $599.99!"

Even without counting inflation, prices are cheaper than when I was young.

Wow, going through this topic and clearly there are some folks that just can't let things go and just go on in circles with arguments. Pathetic.

On topic, I'm Canadian and I'll agree games are priced high here. There are alot of sales physically and digitally so it makes it hurt less. Just bought Final Fantasy 16 physical for 50 last week, got Ace Combat 7 off PSN for 12 few weeks ago. Just gotta be patient for the most part.

Freemium games greatly overcharge the scammed user (I cant really call them players) into paying far more than what the game is worth.

Only $2500, which I can afford despite being a low income part timer

Objectively I'm under the poverty line and yet I have almost 30k saved in just a few years

Low income with $2500 non-essential spending and 5-digit saving in just a few years? First time seeing this ngl. Am I correct to assume that you're not actually under poverty line tc? I mean your local poverty line, not your national average.

Compared to a lot of things, yeah. And still is.

Like if you're into pool, for example, it's a couple grand for a table, sticks, etc, and dedicating a good 200-ish square feet of floor space to it. Or maybe some bars let you play for free, I dunno because I don't go to bars lol. But it's just one example anyway. With tennis you've got rackets and memberships, and if you wanna talk hours per dollar, moviegoing and concerts are never going to approach the defacto gamer gold standard of 1.

Unfortunately I understand the rise in game prices when development budgets have skyrocketed.

IIRC the other day I saw Spider-Man 2 cost like $300m before marketing.

I still want for sales, very rarely do I need to play a game on Day 1, plus Ive been on a digital indie kick lately, been missing out

We also used to have rental stores.... meaning that you could rent 2 games out at once for 10 bucks. Back in the 90s I only ever owned Mario 1 and a copy of Karate Champ. Everything else was rented.

On the other hand, I haven't paid more that $15 for a game in years.

I always buy games on sale.

This. I have literally thousands of games in my backlog. I never buy games new anymore. I wait 3 to 6 months and buy when they're 50% off or more.

Yeah they were great, if you could find the game you wanted. Yet those games were always gone.

That was one of the advantages to living in a fairly large city growing up. I had multiple rental stores to choose from, and second hand game stores.
