Very sorry to hear. Everyone goes about it differently. There's some merit to trying to hold your breath a bit to try to collect yourself at first, but of course no harm in leaning on friends.

I decided to rest tonight, i'll hang out with friends at a restaurant tomorrow.

Not sure what would be proper comfort food...

This is one of the tragic parts of life. And I have nightmares about the inevitable day when it happens to me as I'm sure everyone does. Major condolences, she awaits you with our father in heaven TC. Until then she wants you to live your best life.

Sorry to hear that. As someone who lost his birth mother in the past couple years, its hard to deal with. I was fortunate in that we weren't especially close, but we were close enough that it did hit me. One thing that helped my family in the hard time was taking something that she loved and making something of it to remember her by. For us it was a blanket she had on her bed, which we had turned into small couch cushions that could be divided amongst her sisters/mother and me.

It made us feel like she was still near us, even when times are tough.

I know you've heard sorry a thousand times but my condolences for your loss. My work supervisor lost his mom about 2 weeks ago. Make sure to give yourself time to process everything and heal.

This is similar to me. My mom passed on Dec 29th, 2017. Although she was very sick, she was still preparing for new year's and making so many future family plans. It still hurts.

I also suggest seeing friends. Talking about it can help the process.

Also remember that only you decide your grieving process.

Im so sorry for you loss, Ive been there and I get it. Youre not at all pathetic for coming here. Behind our screens we are all people, and as it turns out, when things get real, mostly decent people who care at that. If you ever find yourself needing someone to talk to, I dont know you at all, but feel free to DM me. I know when my mom passed, my father and I grew even closer..I dont know what your situation is with your father or what your parents situation was with eachother, but if you guys are both feeling the same way right now, you can probably be of great comfort to one another when it comes to getting through it. Same with any siblings. Again, I dont want to make any assumptions, Im just basing this off my own experience.

Your mom loved you and knew you loved her..and you may not believe this but on some level a part of her will always be with you. At least I believe that to be true.

<3 it does get easier with time as unbelievable as that seems right now

It takes about a week at least in FLA. They tell you if you are a relative when it happens. My friend's took longer since her children were her only living direct relations. Wasn't on good terms with her daughter and her son lived in TX. Took about 3 weeks.

That depends a lot on you. When my dad died I isolated myself whenever I wasn't forcing myself to be there for my kid.

Just depends on how you handle grief.

It's a hard thing to see. My uncle passed last year, he was really sick. Kidneys shut down and was on dialysis. His last wish was that he would have one last Christmas with his family who were all over the country. Which he got. The day his son flew back to Ottawa, he was put in Paliative care. We figured at the time he had maybe a month left to live. But sadly, that wasn't the case. He passed that night at 1 in the morning. He knew his time was up. Luckily he managed to get most of his pre-death things done. But dealing with banks after a death is just ridiculous. It's like the people you talk to can't understand that the person they are looking to speak with has passed, even after you tell them 3 times.

My great aunt died last year, and within a day her sister died. We figure it was broken heart syndrome. They were fairly old, one was 97 the other I think 93. But we always remember that one of them was never allowed to go shopping with anyone. Not because she wasn't a nice person, but because she was someone who was impatient and would purposely skip lines and argue with cashiers when she was told to get to the back of the line.

I lost my father unexpectedly back in 2019. He was in hospital at the time but not for what he died from, which was a heart attack. He was 70 and was in for a twisted bowel. He'd had Parkinsons for about 35 years and the medications he was on would sometimes cause the twisted bowel. It would happen approx once a year for the last 10 or so years he was with us. His specialist said he very likely didn't even know about it as when he was found he was sitting upright in his chair, only his head was drooped forward.

Anyway, I don't want to hijack this topic, I only shared that so you know I know exactly how you feel. Do whatever you feel you need to do. We are here for you should you feel the need.

When my mother passed in 2018 it was the worst pain ever. Life is not the same after it happens but over time the pain subsides for me. Hope you can heal too over time. Sorry for your loss TC

I think I am gonna rest a little. Seeing my mother inanimated body was the worst thing I have lived. I borderline just wanted to ask her to talk to me and hug me, but just know she could not.

And I feel pathetic asking advices on gamefaqs. I feel numb in my bed now

I had to take some deep breaths not to burst into tears reading this. I feel such sorrow for you, I'm so sorry for your loss. You're not pathetic coming here for advice. There's nothing wrong with asking other people for help, and it's a lot easier to type it out than to speak about it right now I'm sure. We're here for you.

Sorry for your loss. It should likely get easier with time. The empty spot will always be there, but the grief button should shrink over time.

Do whatever you feel is best to help you process, though I would suggest any isolation to be briefly lived initially.
