Yesterday I finally hit 405lbs on deadlifts for a decent double. My strength is close to back to where it was pre quarantine finally.

No. Arthoscopy. My 2nd one on my left knee.

Went in medial and lateral.

Yeah that's what I got, I think arthroscopic surgery is the name of the surgery and menisectomy is the actual surgical act that takes place of cutting the meniscus(usually the torn pieces and salvaging the good parts), correct me if I'm wrong though.

I had two of those on my left knee as well, at 17 years old and at 26 3 years ago. Wishing you a good recovery.

Sheesh, sounds painful.

I just got the meniscus shaved down.

I have a picture of my weigh in today at 240.1lbs, unfortunately the image uploaded on Gamefaqs isn't working for me.

I'll see if I can post a picture of my results. But I hit 240lbs today. Yay for me.

Unfortunately I cannot post them, they are too big it says.

Murdered arms tonight. Back on the heavy track next week to get my squat and bench over the hump. Will probably start using knee wraps again instead of my sleeves...depends on how my knee feels. Hoping my adjustment on my stance carries over to my heavy sets.

Didn't do great on my first week of cutting. Usually, I can flush out double digits of water weight and that kick starts me into continuing at a regular pace. Im 2 lbs down though, which considering my diet was bad is better than nothing. Should be a much less hectic week for me so hopefully I'll not stress eat. Id do even better if it wasn't so hot and muggy.

Started using the chronometer calorie counting app and it's really helping me make sure I'm eating enough for gains.

Also pushes me to workout harder when I'm aware of how well I've been eating. Don't wanna waste that sweet, sweet protein.

Only 2 weeks in so there's not enough change to really note.

It's absolutely delicious, this 24 hour Mexican joint has amazing food and you have to wait like 30 minutes minimum no matter when you go. I've been avoiding meat for the most part for the past 6 months tho so that much steak is actually painful.

Oh btw I finally remembered to grab that shake recipe for you.

1 cup oats
1 banana
4 tbps peanut butter
16 oz water or 12 oz milk (+225 cal)
1 scoop whey

Super simple. He'll add some strawberries sometimes and either spirulina or moringa leaves if he can find it. Moringa shouldn't be consumed more than once or twice a week tho.

Just good a good lift in, chest, tris and shoulders. I don't know what is up with time in the morning but it goes by so darn fast, feels like I was at the gym for 15 minutes tops but we were there at the very least 60 minutes.

My brother gave me these vitamin b17 apricot seeds, super potent, trying 3 seeds in my protein shake every day to see how I feel. If you eat one by itself it has a really strong bitter taste, supposedly it kills cancer.

Man I can't wait til I have a good physique again. I feel amazing right now, I feel like I smoked a joint man, total body high. For any of you that are wondering what the best time to lift is, I'll save you experimenting, I've been lifting 15 years, tried very many different times, 5am is by far the best time ever. You can get a good workout by 6am and be on your way, barely any people there.we were the first people there today, it's motivating to be the first folks in the gym.

I used to do 4pm in high school, then 7pm in college, 2pm early 20s and 9pm mid 20s. Working out with the intentions to go to bed afterwards is good, come home, take a protein shake, eat some nuts, take a shower and go to bed you'll fall asleep so good.

Theres something about waking up extra early though that makes the day feel like a breeze afterwards. Especially if you don't over do it at the gym, get a decent lift in, all those feel good chemicals hit you right in the morning. I should have definitely done this before.

How can we possibly know? I'm sure there are tons of vegan protein powders out there with different nutritional properties. As long as it has around 20g of protein per scoop and all essential amino acids it should be fine. Not sure if it's worse than regular protein, I'm assuming you mean whey protein, not all whey protein is good. A good protein powder is going to have less than 10 ingredients, low in sugar, all essential amino acids, and somewhere around 20g of protein per 100 calories.

Honestly vegan protein is fine, it has a different taste usually where you can really tell it's plant based, but it all goes to the same place and if you're mixing it with milk almost every protein I've tried has been fine flavor wise. If it's 15g it's probably less than 100 calories per scoop too.

I just get the ON Gold Standard whey isolate from Walmart tho because it's $1 per scoop, then I transfer two bags of it into a big container from when ON was on a crazy discount at GNC.

It depends on the serving size, I read if 80% of the serving size of a protein powder is protein that's pretty good. So if it's 100 calorie serving, 80 calories from protein, the remainder from fat and carbs, that's pretty good.

That's intense man. What's the set/rep scheme? I feel kinda bad, I only train 5 lifts a session, 2 main at 5/3/1 sets/reps, 3 accessories at 8x8-12 (start at 8, add an additional rep per set per workout until I hit 8x12, then go up in weight/back down to 8x8 in volume)

I do most lifts as 3 x8s, except bench press and deadlift which are 4 x5 and x5 x8 x10, respectively. The atrophy in my left shoulder really hinders my bench progress, but it's evening out quickly now that I added an extra 50g of protein.

Don't feel bad, it's actually becoming pretty clear that I was over training, but I couldn't tell because I had so much body fat that I never felt low on energy. Now that I don't have very much left, my recovery needs are completely different and I've failed to adjust them so I was extremely sore for the past 5 days and had to take 3 of them off. I'm gonna deload on the same routine this week, set PBs at the end of the week and then reformat the entire routine for next week.

It depends on how much you do, and how long rest periods are. Im a big proponent of high volume training so 2h-2h30m is routine for me. The bulk of it is spent doing my heavy compound lift since I like to take 3-5 minute breaks on my heaviest sets, especially if I have a partner. I tried to shorten my workouts in the past, but it hurt me more than helped me.

Basically this. When I squat/bench/deadlift, that's 45min-60min of my workout. Then the next hour is accessories then some time for stretching.

I see better gains and fewer injuries when I focus on higher volume stuff. Im inching up on 40 and I injure myself much easier than in the past. When work was shut down I was just throwing as much as i could into my routine. They lasted around 3 hours if I was doing 3x a week. 2 hrs when I did it everyday. I do a minute between sets and 2 between exercises. It's actually closer to 1.5 and 2.5 though. I start to get into position at the minute mark.

I'm not throwing around big boy numbers though. I've managed to get up to be a solid intermediate level lifter but with my routine I doubt that I'll ever move beyond that. At this point I'm addressing looks more than strength anyway.

Anyway, back at work full time this week. Started my abbreviated workouts with few accessories. Feels weird.

@Balrog0
Not necessarily. The amount youre lifting doesnt dictate how much time you give yourself. Its all subjective. If youre totally spent at the end of your workout, and getting stronger at a decent clip, then your routine is fine.
I personally like longer breaks because Im always setting rep prs on my last set and I like to make sure Im fully recovered to give my best effort. Conditioning should never try to blend with lifting for strength. Now when I get to my accessories Ill speed up my pace because Im not focused on going super heavy anymore.

First day of deload is done, didn't enjoy it as much mentally since I crave picking up heavy shit, but my body feels good and I know I have to cuz some of my lifts are stalled and that's been frustrating af. Do you add reps and sets or just do the same routine at a percentage of the weight? I added a few reps on certain accessories, but I kept the same number of sets for everything. I also only did squats today instead of squats, deadlift, and linear leg press. So it was only a 90 minute session. I figure I'll probably start doing a choose two setup and do each one twice per week, but for this week I'm just going to do each of them once.

That's one of my favorite parts of this journey, is there's so much to learn and you get to make adjustments as you better learn what really works for you.

Also, I take longer breaks like 3 minutes between sets on my mains cuz if I try to rush back into them I'll notice my form weakening and especially on squats I'll get instability starting at the 6th rep on later sets and I can't have that.

Shit's just crazy tho, there was some lady on my mail route that I hadn't seen in maybe 4 months and she thought I was a new employee and asked me if they got rid of the "great big round one" lmao. It felt really good to be like "new body who dis?"
