3 months of no exercise and eating bad, 152lbs to 171lbs.

Went back on the healthy path yesterday. Drinking more water, taking electrolytes and supplements (cod liver oil, ACV, BHB). Going to try and do keto with minimal farm meat (beef, pork, chicken) as part of a "spirit diet". Just one meal today. Green tea, steamed salmon with loaded cauliflower and a side of pumpkin seeds.

Let's go

Good luck. I had good success with keto before quarantine, but when I tried to restart it my body didnt respond to it. Now Im just managing my macros and calories, and keeping my fat intake below 30%.

I had awesome success with keto last year and before quarantine. I was able to drop down to my lowest weight (152lbs) by the end of March. Doing it on and off for a year has been very helpful as a tool to jump-start your body from glucose to ketones and vice-versa. The BHB pills and MCT oils also massively decrease the time it takes for your body to get into a natural nutritional state of ketosis. I remember in March it took me about 3-4 days to get it to kick in after being off for 2 months.

I'm also going to try and avoid controversial artificial sweeteners that are keto-friendly, such as sucralose and aspartame.

Emevas did 300 push ups in one set by training from his max and doing 1 more push up each day. Figure your max is 50, try to do 51 the next day, once you reach 51, progress to 52 and so on until you reach the desired amount. I think the trick is to pace yourself at the top. You should know before going down for another rep whether you can complete it, if you can't you just wait in a plank position, you're going to need good endurance but I think you already got that. Let us know how this goes for you. And if you want more precise info you should make a thread on the fitness board and tag Emevas.

Did arms, waist, and abs today, along with a bit of jogging. I tried a more intense, longer workout, and it felt good, but whew, I ended up exhausted.

I would suggest doing them throughout the day. If your arms get tired, you'll start to lose form, which is counter-productive.

25 here, 25 there. Before you know you'll build better muscle memory and be able to do like 75-100.

What for? I just looked it up and it's just a dietary fiber pill. You could just eat more raw veggies to get dietary fiber and you'd be getting a load of other nutrients.

Focus on form and just do them pretty much. Then do more. If you can do at least one correctly then you can build from there.

Also, there are a ton of variations that hit different things. I've got 3 different types that I do. Standard pushups aren't even in there because my lanky arms make them mechanically difficult. I get more out of other variations.

I swapped over to resistance band training once the gyms went dark. I feel stronger, but I have no real context, aside from going up a few bands.

Weight wise I've dropped a few pounds but nothing significant.

I've lost weight but it's been muscle mass/tone.

I look like a shrimpier version of myself before Covid hit.

My mom even asked me if I've been eating right.

Finally got my hands on a pair of 30pd dumbbells. Excited to be able to lower reps and really feel sore again.

Is there any reason to get a curl bar or can dumbbells do pretty much any exercise a curl bar would do?

Well I literally am halfway through the "One Punch Man" routine just out of boredom. It's fun and I'm toning up.

I'm a pretty big dude and my usual weight is around 235-240 but I'm around 250-255. I imagine I'll get my abs fully back when I'm back to my normal weight.

Dumbbells will do anything a curl bar can do. I stopped using curl bars years ago, other than for the odd preacher curl when I want to really overload the biceps. The only reason Id see a curl bar benefiting someone is if theyre rapidly getting stronger and need something more cost efficient than buying dumbbells.

I invested in some adjustable dumbells years ago and have loved them. They've grown with me and I can use them for a bigger variety of exercises. Like im not going to curl as much as I dumbell bench press. Adjustable solves that problem. Plus the same weights can be used on my curl bar if I'm trying to mix it up. It's not as versatile as actual gym access but it gives me a lot of options.

Yeah man it's fine, having more endurance doesn't make your muscles able to push past their physical limitations. If you fail out, stop doing that move for the day. If you want some extra work just tack on some cardio or add more accessory lifts.

That means you need to start slowly ramping up weight or reps to your sets to keep the improvement in strength and gains. You're being conditioned to your current state.
