I think quitting alcohol was fundamental to my weight loss, I've had a total of maybe 10 drinks since December, mostly on dates, never at home, never alone.

You can do it, I think 60 pounds by January is totally achievable. Be careful of that knee tho man, I'd hate to see you out for any longer.

Was down 15pds and somehow only gained 2 back so I'm lucky as fuck.

Time to buckle back down.

Thanks, my doctor told me that. Told me it was empty calories so I gave it up like 2 years ago but started again.

And my limp is still heavy, but I was just gonna work out upper until I finished physical therapy.

Yeah, alcohol consumption is definitely my biggest struggle. It's not super hard to fit in calorie-wise, but there's an inevitable impact on performance too

Did some fun sets of bench press today.

95x8
135x8
185x6
205x2

Bench press strength is climbing. I feel silly now cuz I had this whole meltdown on how awful barbell exercises are, yet here I am talking about a barbell exercise.

Why is that? How come no one asks like, how high you can jump on a box but they'll ask how much you deadlift, squat, bench?

I'm not sure how true it is, the logic of it made enough sense that I was like, "OK", but I had seen in a youtube video that alcohol consumption interferes with your liver's ability to break down and process fat. The biggest thing is my workouts are so difficult to get to and get through even when I only had two drinks the night before tho. My moods are a lot more stable when I maintain abstinence from it too, but I had a huge problem with it, it was really destructive in my life and I'm grateful to have been able to come so far.

Cutting out alcohol is obviously a great thing but I drink hard every weekend and made this progress over several years: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xVVNDxZoe8E/Xuqz37fM3YI/AAAAAAABl6E/LHL9pD-gbsE9yOcmQ0vKNFpfjRGo--XjQCK4BGAsYHg/w625-h625/IMG_20200611_110258.jpg

Just want to put out that it's possible, but I don't do it throughout the week and I almost always drink clear drinks with organic juice.

Yeah, I've lost 30 lbs January through June this year and never stopped drinking; I probably drank more days than I didn't. Some weeks I'll drink every night, though not to excess every night

It's honestly a more noticeable problem now that I'm trying to bulk. When I was cutting it was harder to separate the alcohol from the calorie restriction when I had a bad day.

Just my experience though obviously I haven't been dedicated to this like you have

That's great progress! I bet you could hit 160 in 5 weeks instead of 8 tho.

I did a weigh in myself last Monday since it'd been almost a month and was at 217. Bringing the weight loss that I can verify to 111 lbs. Before I started, I weighed myself in early November and was at 328, but I definitely gained weight between then and December 27th when I went to the gym for the first time. Seem to be mostly avoiding loose skin, will definitely have some on my stomach when all the belly fat is gone. my entire body is covered in stretch marks but I think it looks badass af, like lightning patterned all over me. I was too afraid to start taking pictures until May, but I'm gonna try to get the picture that Planet Fitness took since it's so wild.

@Balrog0, I feel you man, I just came off my deload this past week, so I tried to make up for it by going as hard as possible, rotating in some new accessories (Svend press yo), and getting pb on everything. However, I kind of lost track of the days and yesterday was my 7th workout in a row and I ended up doing my main lifts at like 60% lmao. Before I even went I kinda felt like I should just take it off, but I couldn't stop myself. I'm gonna cruise around town on my bike today, but I'll take two days off from lifting.

@DespondentDeity yeah I pushed myself too much in a way, too. I normally deload every 6 weeks but I pushed another cycle this time because I was feeling pretty good. So that's 9 weeks. I don't feel as bad considering that. Idk though. I'm satisfied with my progress visually but I feel like I should be getting stronger faster. I know it doesn't really help to compare but it seems like most people put up bigger numbers than I do at this point. And don't need to deload as often

Went to the gym yesterday, had a nice workout, was able to hit 315 twice on the bench press which means I haven't lost much strength since my surgery.

Went today and rode 8 miles on the bike which is the furthest I've ever done. My knee will pay for it tomorrow.

Also day 2 of salad and egg whites only.

Also, I'm awaiting my elbow sleeve and starting my 6 week, add 30 pounds on bench press program. Looking to be at 370ish when its done.

I weighed in today at 238.6, New lowest weight record. Weights been coming down slow. I pretty much gained weight the whole last week of July for some reason, even though I was eating really well and at a deficit. Good to see I'm finally making some gains weight wise. My measurements are all in the 43 inch markers as well, down from 49 inches stomach and 46 inches waist respectively. I can't wait to be under 40 inches!

If I'm on a deload week during a bulk, should I still eat as many calories? Should I eat fewer this week because I'm not lifting as heavy or as much?

You'll use those extra calories to better recover. From what you've posted, your diet isn't full of garbage so you should be good. Worst case scenario, you put on a tiny bit of fat along with muscle. You can undo that pretty quickly. It's just a week, but obviously don't go nuts.

I agree with the above unless I'm cutting weight. I eat a lot peri-workout even when I'm cutting so I'm not doing that without a training stimulus if weight loss is my aim. Otherwise yeah, keep the calories coming.

Been in the gym everyday since Saturday with 2 cardio days.

My knee is feeling good, getting the stitches out tomorrow. After a week or 2 of PT, I'm going to incorporate some lower body stuff.

I've also lost 10 pounds since Saturday.

Salad for lunch.
Egg whites for dinner.
Water.

I use PB2 in my version to save 280 calories and a boatload of fat, a little more expensive but I'm still eating in deficit so it's worth it. Since I added the shake my life has been so much easier, easier to count calories and macros and I'm getting more carbs so the energy level has been stable throughout the week.

Have you thought about adding a casein drink right before bed? That was one thing my friend did when he had gotten up to 175. He started at like 118 too. He's at 162 now, cuz he has two kids so he can't really work out as often or eat like he used to.

Honestly, pretty glad I'm coming from the other direction, even tho I have to worry about shit like my nipples ending up in the right spot lol

@lincoln002

You deserve a treat every now and then, plus I think about like you lost x amount of weight, one off day isn't gonna have you gain anywhere close to that amount back. Plus, it's not like you reach your target weight then just stop working on fitness, you can't really cause a meaningful delay because it's your entire lifestyle that's different now. Just go harder today, or harder the rest of the week, and don't drink that stuff again for a while.
