Mecha'Thun
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/mechathun/
10 mana 10/10
Deathrattle: If you have nothing left, win.
Rating: Dubious
Comment: Someone will find a way to make this work. I'm kinda curious if it will be at all reproducible, or anything more than just an extreme back-up strat. Most of the time, I expect this is just a Faceless Behemoth. I'm going to laugh if some druid plays this in a spell-heavy deck, and then drops Gloop like 4 turns later to resummon a M-C'T.

CONCLUSION: Based on neutral mech cards alone, I don't see a particularly viable strategy. It's going to take the support cards from a class or some non-mech minions to form some sort of cohesive strategy, because curvestone has not been a thing for a very long time, and none of these mechs really provide anything other than just stats and board presence...other than Mecha'Thun, of course. Or maybe....Meat Wagon??

Galvanizer
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/galvanizer/
2 mana 1/2
Battlecry: Reduce cost of mechs in hand by 1
Rating: Low
Comment: Meh, you'd have to have a pretty critical mass of mechs or something you *really* wanted to play on curve. I don't see many high cost mechs outside of warrior, and even the warrior mechs don't strike me as benefitting massively.

Probably most useful for Mecha'Thun combos, though it's not something you would be sad to discover in Warrior/Shaman. Druid gets Mecha'Thun -> Naturalize if you run one of these.

Kaboom Bot
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/kaboom-bot/
3 mana 2/2
Deathrattle: 4 damage to enemy minion
Rating: Medium
Comment: Not sure how I feel here. It's like Bomb Lobber, but cheaper. That's either going to make it great, or terrible, because at 3, four damage might be overkill...but it's also likely to take *something* with it, at least.

I'd call it unstable elemental++. It's harder to ping off, so it's a legitimate 3 drop. On an empty board, I think it trades with just about all 4 drops too?

I think it's probably too early to write off Goblin Bombs considering that Void Ripper exists and Fungalmancer loves having things on board, but I'd guess that only Explodinator is worth it out of the neutrals unless you're running shudderwock.

I am so annoyed. Ive had like 20% favorables inside legend and when I do get a good matchup Ive had the worst draws in the world. Had a control priest versus token matchup where both pyros AND both duskbreakers were bottom 6.

Also had one as a miracle rogue where I managed to have 6 spiders in my deck with 7 cards left. I mean come on.

I just had back to back games where where Leroy was bottom two. I drew my entire deck and in both cases was just a little off lethal both times without him.

Like the first game my opponent got his entire combo in his first half of the deck (including hagatha which is why he won he actually whiffed on shudderwock but it didnt matter because he cleared my board in the process)

Second game my opponent top decks hagatha. Also involved him highrolling both storm and mct.

I temporarily took out mossy and voidripper for another SI and shadow step.

Comment: He was a skater bot. She said see ya later, bot. Don't want no cards that just buff rush. Now he's a magnet buff, on a 9 mana tough, getting its divine shield to crush.

I think you're selling this little dude short, especially in Wild where an OTK combo with Mech Warper and Glinda can be abused. All it takes is for a single mech to survive a turn to go infinite buffs (and there not be a taunt in the way).

But yeah man, I've been enjoying reading the write-ups so keep an coming if you feel like expending the energy on it. I'm reading em.

The 'Your Month in Hearthstone' email says I had a 14 game win streak in standard at some point last month and I absolutely don't remember anything of the sort happening. I also had a 92.9% win rate with Hunter in standard, so apparently I went 13-1 or thereabouts and then decided I no longer wanted to play a deck that was actually successful? I also don't remember playing Hunter outside of trying to finish quests and I usually do that in casual.

HUNTER

Bomb Toss
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/bomb-toss/
Rating: High
Comment: 2-cost damage spells are usually good. I realize Smite does that much for 1, but I'm thinking of Quick Shot, which did 3 plus had card draw potential, and Darkbomb, which is still run in wild. Instead of a 3rd damage, we get a Goblin Bomb, which does 2 more damage to the hero and hunter might just have a goblin bomb deck strategy with all their deathrattle triggering stuff. I'm not hopeful of that, but these "incidental" goblin bomb cards are a lot more likely to facilitate that.

Boommaster Flark
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/boommaster-flark/
Rating: Low
Comment: But this isn't incidental. This is just straight-up summon goblin bombs. And in the meanwhile, it's pay 7 for a 5/5. While I think Goblin Bomb decks get run over, this is different. I see this as a potential finisher, provided there's a good way to *trigger* the bombs this guy summons, since it can deal 8 the turn it comes out if you have one. So I actually see this as runnable in a general hunter midrange deck without all the other bomb cards, but I still don't think it's good.

Cybertech Chip
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/cybertech-chip/
Rating: Low (but I really like it)
Comment: I loved Infest. It never really went anywhere no matter how much I tried, but I liked it. Now we have a 2-mana infest, except it gets specifically mechs. Thing is, I'm not sure a random mech is any better than a random minion, and the issue was always having stuff on board to put on this. I guess playing this with hounds is 1 less, but if you're that far behind, you don't have time to play the new cards.

Fireworks Tech
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/fireworks-tech/
Rating: Low
Comment: Might as well run Skater Bot. That can also "trigger" the bombs since they now have rush. But since this lets you get 4 damage from one bomb, I know this is going to be tried. In that sense, it's 3/2 of stats, but it feels weak to me. Are there other mechs that want deathrattles triggered? Meat Wagon? Piloted Reaper? I mean, the right answer is obviously Mechanical Whelp, but when those are your only targets, wouldn't you rather use the "normal" deathrattle triggers like Terrorscale Stalker? This card is rated 4.5, which I think might make it the most overrated card I've seen, because it's really not that good.

Flark's Boom-Zooka
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/flarks-boom-zooka/
Rating: Low
Comment: 3 minions come out, kamikaze, and die. I'm not feeling it. The only place this really makes sense is in a true deathrattle deck, but you'd have to have loads of deathrattles to make that strategy work. Beyond that, it's just a really bad catch-up card unless there's some kind of recruit hunter I'm not aware of that runs a bunch of overstatted minions that you don't mind throwing away. The existing one wants its minions, and 2 mana isn't enough to do auxillary things to them.

Goblin Prank
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/goblin-prank/
Rating: Medium
Comment: Not sure what the point of +3 health is if it dies at the end of turn. This is just a bad Cold Blood. No combo requirement, and adds rush, but costs 1 more for 1 less attack. Still, based on that alone, it might see play. Hunter aggro can be a real thing in some sets, and this might allow a hunter to control the board. I think I'd still rather have direct 3 damage instead, though.

Necromechanic
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/necromechanic/
Rating: Medium
Comment: Baron Rivendare is back. In his days, Rivendare sucked, but this is a new meta, and this is a 3/6 rather than a 1/7, so maybe there's a difference. It's obviously Blizzard wants you to play this with 6 spider bombs on board, and then kill/trigger them for tons of face damage. I can't think of a graceful way of giving them attack (Raid Leader? No, thanks.) so it'll be killing them actively, maybe through a card like Abomination. Still, that seems like you're running bad cards to justify other bad cards.

Secret Plan
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/secret-plan/
Rating: Very High
Comment: Call me silly, but this might be hunter's best card from the set. It's a non-mech card that can fit perfectly into existing decks. The biggest weakness of hunter secrets is that, although varied, often you get one that doesn't fit the situation. And with your opponent in charge of how secrets trigger, that doesn't always go well for you. This is much more elegant if you have your choice of 3. I'd take that flexibility any day. It also makes unused traps like Rat Trap and Misdirection a viable threat to see occasional usage, too, which makes it harder to play around hunter secrets.

Spider Bomb
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/spider-bomb/
Rating: Very high
Comment: When I said earlier there weren't mech deathrattles to trigger, I was looking at the neutrals and forgot about this guy. 2/2 Deadly Shot is really good. It suffers from not happening immediately, but with all the ways you can make a deathrattle happen in hunter, this could kill a lot of minions, and +2/+2 to a mech is just icing at that point. This is the card that can make hunter mech decks viable.

Venomizer
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/venomizer/
Rating: Medium
Comment: Another extremely overrated card. It's a way to kill your goblin bombs, granted, but if I have a choice between Venomizer and Spider Bomb, I think I'd take Spider Bomb against most boards. Yes, Venomizer is better if your opponent is hiding behind scarabs, and that's a real threat, but I'm astounded this card has a 4.6 rating. However, here's a fun scenario -- get it onto the same mech as a rocket launcher, and it just wipes the entire board every turn. It's also great on something like Upgradeable Frame Bot. So it's not a bad card by any means. I just don't see it as nearly as great as others are hyping.

PALADIN

Annoy-o-Module
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/annoy-o-module/
Rating: High
Comment: As a stand-alone, this is nowhere near as good as Annoy-o-Tron. It's more comparable to Shieldwalker at that point, or Burnbristle. But being able to slap this onto an existing mech to make it so much tougher to kill and have taunt is amazing.

Autodefense Matrix
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/autodefense-matrix/
Rating: Medium
Comment: I think this has a real place in a deck that wants to rush out a board and then protect its minions on key turns. In that regard, it's better than Get Down because you can play it on one, and then it doesn't trigger until you have a minion. Plus, maybe you play a 3/1 or something like that where you get more punch. Can also trigger with a full board. But it's main use is going to be in reinforcing get down in a deck that runs both. Don't think there's enough to make a true secret deck, but who knows?

Crystalsmith Kangor
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/crystalsmith-kangor/
Rating: Medium-High
Comment: Pure speculation on my part, because I don't see a use for this card currently. However, this is a potential control-enabling card. Paladin hasn't been control-friendly in quite a while, but it does have good tools for it.

Crystology
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/crystology/
Rating: Medium-Low
Comment: So 2 cards for 1, at a fair price. By itself, not amazing, but it's basically a little mini Call to Arms. If there's a deck out there that wants to run mostly 1-drops and then Prince Liam morphs them into legendaries, this has some niche use. It's not like you can even put this in odd paladin. Best use I can see is bringing out your Murloc Tidecallers early.

Glow-Tron
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/glow-tron.png
Rating: Fantastic
Comment: Dire mole that can also be a buff in the late game? Sign me up.

Glowstone Technician
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/glowstone-technician/
Rating: Low
Comment: There's a reason hand-buff never did well, even with some great effects like this one in paladin. That reason was mostly that it was hard to have a hand full of stuff and also get the buffing card out without falling behind. If Grimestreet Enforcer can't see play, I don't know what makes us think this can.

Kangor's Endless Army
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/kangors-endless-army/
Rating: High
Comment: I don't know precisely what a paladin mech deck looks like or what kind of mechs you want to focus on, but it clearly wants to exploit the magnetic mechanic. The only concern I have is that if magnetic becomes a big thing, it promotes the use of silence, and then Kangor's is suddenly not so great if all you're getting back is a 1/5. I certainly won't rule it out, though.

Mechano-Egg
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/mechano-egg/
Rating: High
Comment: The big grand daddy egg of them all. Hunter weeps. This is your premium Kangor target, since getting any buff on this that lets it attack (or have taunt) and then getting an 8/8 for free, followed by bringing them both back, is suddenly 7 mana well spent.

Prismatic Lens
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/prismatic-lens/
Rating: Low?
Comment: Deck-building puzzle card. I've heard of suggestions to run just Dinosize, and then a bunch of low cost minions, and maybe a 1 mana Dinosize will be good enough to justify this, but I think it's more likely you try for some kind of Spiteful deck that also runs Lay on Hands. In the meanwhile, your second Prismatic Lens could get pulled, so I dunno. There's also no way to make a viable spell paladin deck, and in any other circumstance, this just looks ridiculous.

Shrink Ray
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/shrink-ray/
Rating: Fantastic
Comment: This is the card control paladin needs to reinforce Equality. And it cn be played standalone to minimize threats, which means that its cost isn't prohibitive. Although intended for control, it's also great in a dude deck, which means it's also good in...

ODD PALADIN:
Gets Autodefense Matrix, Glow-Tron, Kangor's, Mechano-Egg, Shrink Ray
Benefits from Shrink Ray most. Glow-Tron probably doesn't fit the deck. The other cards are probably not viable.

EVEN PALADIN
Gets Annoy-o-Module, Kangor, Crystology (lol), Glowstone Tech, Prismatic Lens
Benefits from probably nothing here except maybe Annoy-o-Module if there's an even archetype that's mech-strong.

Don't play on talking even/odd with other classes, but paladin ran both consistently for a while.

IIRC Firebat really likes Flark, and he's a big Hunter player (kinda zoned out during that Omnistone). I think his main point was that the bombs essentially give the next Magnetic minion you play Charge. I don't know if that makes it worth it to just play Goblin Bomb itself, but everything else seems potentially powerful. Slapping a Spider Bomb, Venomizer, or even Zilliax on residual bombs seems good.

So from that perspective, Flark says "give the next 4 mechs you play Charge" and if they try to deal with the bombs or the rest of the board, they take 8 face damage.

WARRIOR

Beryllium Nullifier
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/beryllium-nullifier/
Rating: Medium
Comment: I think this card is severely underrated. Warrior has always has a control deck available throughout hearthstone, and this gives them a solid chance to make mechs work in that vein. 8 health and untargetable is really hard to answer. 11 stats is weak for a 7-drop, granted, but it's not far behind Spectral Knight which, although it didn't see play, was a pet card of mine.

Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/dr-boom-mad-genius/
Rating: Low
Comment: Here's my bold call for the set -- Dr. Boom sucks. You're paying 7 for some armor and a set of new hero powers that you can't rely on. Yes, many of them are okay on their own, but if you're not going to get it again for 3 turns, and none of them are especially amazing, this is a pale shade next to most death knights. And it's not like a control warrior really cares that much about giving their mechs rush. Timmy card to the extreme.

Dyn-o-Matic
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/dyn-o-matic/
Rating: Medium
Comment: 5 damage split among mechs is like playing Cinder Blast but not worrying about hitting face. If you value that at 2.5 mana, you're getting a bargain on the 3/4 it comes with. Does rely on playing a mech-themed deck that wants to fight for the board (or wipe out a bunch of Silver Hand Recruits) though.

Eternium Rover
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/eternium-rover/
Rating: Medium
Comment: I'm never going to snub a 1/3, but unlike the paladin mech, this one is about trying to gain armor and unless you manage to get a bunch of buffs on it, it's just gain 2 armor. Feels like work to justify, unless you're going to play it on turn 8 with Beryllium Nullifier. I guess you can drop it before Warpathing for 6 armor, though, so that's something.

Omega Assembly
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/omega-assembly/
Rating: Medium
Comment: At least there's one cheap omega card. That's kind of the point, right? Good early and late? I'm not convinced a random mech will be fantastic since there's a bunch of crappy ones, but at least it's discover. The 10 mana version, though, is good value if your game has an unintended late run. Honestly, this should be in the mid-range mech deck, rather than the control variant.

Rocket Boots
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/rocket-boots/
Rating: Low
Comment: 2 mana cycle card. I really think that paying extra to put rush on a minion is not a good deal. Yes, there are times where it can stave off death for a turn, but it's usually a losing strategy relying on that, and any point before that you're basically playing a badly understatted minion.

Security Rover
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/security-rover/
Rating: Medium
Comment: Huffer 2.1. I'm not sure how great whirlwinding to trigger this is when it will hit the taunts, too. Fun thing to think about is if this would have been better off not being a mech so it gets hit by Dyn-o-Matic or if it should be to receive magnetic buffs. Probably the latter, but fun to consider.

Rating: High
Comment: Another underrated card. This will be run in odd warrior, which can get plenty of armor, and only wants to have efficient removal. Getting minions to hit each other will achieve that nicely. Potentially a 6-for-one, but almost certainly at least 3 over 3 turns.

The Boomship
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/the-boomship/
Rating: Medium
Comment: This is not a mech deck card, because the options for summoning mechs is bleh. I'm assuming this is a case where you want to run a "big" warrior deck, and then drop your threats rapidly rather than paying 8+7+10. Plus, of course, the rush means your big boys actually get some mileage. Normally I don't advocate rush, but a rushing Lich King is meaningful. Or maybe you just summon two charged devilsaurs and charge for 14.

Weapons Project
https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/cards/weapons-project/
Rating: Medium
Comment: Get a Stormforged Axe and give your opponent 6 armor. Any deck playing that won't have minions to get attacked by this, so it's only other value is that it's a weird ooze. Some have speculated that this with Harrison is 3 free cards and makes Harrison not a dead card, but I'm not convinced that's worth including both for 7 mana. I guess it's kind of better than Sprint?

.

I'll take the other classes in alpha order, but I wanted to tie in the mech classes first....doesn't look like that was all that important, though.

Keep in mind that this pulls 1-attack minions, so you can tutor stuff like Kangor, Bolvar, Meat Wagon, Framebot/Gatekeeper, Stonehill Defender, and maybe Lynessa?

Oh wow, I badly misread that. I thought it was 1-cost. Okay, so there's that, I guess. I'm not sure how many of these higher-cost minions with 1 attack are very good, but hitting the three 1-attack mechs you mentioned makes this card viable. Summon a Meat Wagon, hit it with a buff, summon more stuff when it dies. Sounds okay-ish. Not broken, but something to play with.

Played Kokoro again. Good game. You've now seen all my moderately competitive decks. Yup. Just have the two right now.

Not sure what the point of +3 health is if it dies at the end of turn.

I guess you could bounce it? >_> Or windfury maybe. Still...yeah seems kinda odd. I guess it also affects whether deathrattle happens the moment you trade it or at end of turn.

I think its good. 2 mana draw 2. Cant go in odd Paladin but Ill tell yall how it does in Midrange Mech Paladin. Between Upgradable Framebot, Stonehill, and Lynessa, maybe 1 more, itll be very consistent strong draw.

But if we are returning to a more curvestone meta it becomes a 2 mana do nothing and you are behind on tempo.

Agree. Not only are you tutoring Stonehill, Upgradeable, Lynessa, or Acolyte, you're thinning your deck of (mostly) early game cards to set up for mid game where this hypothetical deck would hit stride. Yeah, it's a 2 mana-no tempo early game play, but 2 mana draw 2 is strong when you can control what's drawn, and lessen the chance of a dead draw later on.

So, how would everyone rank the legendary spells? Soularium and Storm Bringer seem like they're bringing up the top and the bottom easily, but I could see the rest in just about any ol' order.

1. The Soularium
2. Kangor's Endless Army
3. Myra's Unstable Element
4. Floop's Glorious Gloop
5. The Boomship
6. Flark's Boom-Zooka
7. Zerek's Cloning Gallery
8. Luna's Pocket Galaxy
9. The Storm Bringer

Soularium will 100% be going into the new zoo, so top card for sure. Going to make terrible stupid mech decks. Will be fun.

Other than some of the individual card reveals they did, I haven't watched any of the developer streams or looked at the final card dump, so I only know about 20-30 of the cards going in.

The plan is for my introduction to the set to be when I'm actually opening my packs, and I'll take it from there.

Soularium > Myra > Boomship > Floop > Kangor > Storm Chaser > Cloning Gallery > Boomzooka > Pocket Galaxy just from a glance

For the class legendaries that arent spells

Floop > Stormsurge > Boom > Luna > Kangor > Myra > Flark > Zerek > Morrigan

Zilliax is probably the best neutral and would be number four in that list

If Jungle Giants never took off, I dont expect Pocket Galaxy to either

7 mana do nothing that turn is asking a lot, even if you could Nova that turn or Nova Doomsayer the turn prior

The problem with pocket galaxy is it only b effects minions in your deck. So if you are trying for some kind of 1 mana malygos plays you can't guarantee he gets the buff. And in some kind of minion based deck (low spell elemental mage) you end up not going off until turn 8 at the earliest? And that's after 7 mana do nothing on 7? And then the only way you get more than 1 discount to the board is if you saved your card draw spells. The same spells that could cause you to discard pocket galaxy if you played them before you draw it.

Can 1 mana minions be powerful? Of course. But it seems that by the time you are doing those things other decks will already doing their own strong(er) plays.
