Whats even more annoying is my last few games I was not only matched up against players in 1k plus legend (games I had to absolutely win) but they slow played like crazy. I can understand if youre like in my position and want to calculate your best plays because your close, but when theres like an hour left come on.

In any case on the last day I went from like 2000 to my finish spot.

very cool. this is easily the most transparent arena update we have EVER gotten. I like that they are working on the issue of variety which many players have been pretty annoyed with for the last cycle. still not sure how I feel about them using rates that arbitrarily coincide with the rarity of a card. those values are not really tied to anything, have no basis even in constructed play, and here in arena feel even more pointless. some trash neutral epic that never gets played is being offered significantly less than bonemore because bonemare is a common card? okay then.

not sure if it really comes across as very powerful or impactful but playing a classic style hunter has been nearly impossible since quick shot rotated out, and I've been one of the vocal butthurt complainers that we have never gotten a suitable replacement. finally the ability to deal 2 damage for 2 mana again!

this will increase the reach of hunters not quite as much as quick shot (due to the draw ability), but has its own applications where it should be more useful. and, once again, just the added 2 damage of reach that can be played as part of one big damage-to-face turn is something we were missing the cards to pull off for more than a year now.

I'd literally never seen Temporus before just now. Got it from Bone Drake in arena. I'm always stunned when this happens. I'd never heard of twig until like earlier this week. I guess this happens when you skip entire sets and pay not attention to the ranked meta.

I guess maybe in some cases, it keeps some nasty deathrattles off the board until he's dealt with...but it's a 3/3 for 5.

Omega Defender

Comment: I think people are sleeping on this one. A 2/6 taunt for 4 isn't fantastic, but if you're in a control deck whose games go long, this transitions perfectly from being an aggro stopper to being a late-game threat. I personally think this card is borderline insane, considering you can drop two of them on turn 10 and still have mana left over.

Seaforium Bomber

Comment: Warrior used to have a card that did the same thing, and the bomb did 10 damage. That saw very little play. However, by being neutral, and on a 5/5 for 5 (which is respectable,) I think this card will see experimentation. I think it's more likely it would fit better in a goes-in-your-deck strategy than in-your-opponent's-deck, but we'll take what we can get. Especially with that shuffle dude and maybe some bounce effects. Who knows? Unlikely, but maybe.

Star Aligner

Comment: I think this card is hilarious. It's not Mysterious Challenger, but being able to pick the use of the secrets actually might make it better in some ways. Probably best used in hunter, since there's not much in the way of secret tech left in mage right now, but I see it as plausible. Paladin is unlikely, and rogue just doesn't have enough secrets. (Where are our new rogue secrets, Blizz?)

Early thoughts:

Overall, Boomsday seems like an expansion where they're really filling out curve cards for the classes. Witchwood had a lot of tech-y cards or niche cards, while this time around there's a bunch of stuff you can play in the early game. Maybe the meta speeds up to the point where Druidstone doesn't become a thing, maybe this is all part of a buildup to when Keleseth rotates and 2-drops are a thing in decks again.

There are Deathrattles galore this time around, and with Magnetic always being a threat, silence should continue to be valuable.

Card I irrationally like: Mechanical Whelp is going to be stupid sometimes. (Neutral 6 mana 2/2 mech, deathrattle: summon a 7/7 mechanical dragon). If you pay full cost for this, it sucks, but luckily there are a bunch of ways where you don't have to do that, and your opponent might end up hating you for it. At 2 attack, it gets pulled by Oakheart, you can rush it out with the Hunter legendary, rush it from your hand with Warrior's Boomship (or even Dr Boom's effect), Discount it and kill it with Priest's Reckless Experimenter, and a bunch of other stuff.

Bronze Gatekeeper (Neutral 3 mana 1/5 mech with Magnetic) seems like it might warp the early game a bit just by existing? Any mech left alive at turn 3 and later can become a taunt that soaks a ton of damage. Do you kill off mechs to prevent the possibility, or do you go face and just accept it if it happens?
Wargear and Zilliax seem like the only other neutral magnetic minions worth anything. Nullifier in Warrior costs too much. Hunter's two magnetic minions both look strong. Annoy-o-Module is strong in Paladin.

Legendary minions: Druid/Shaman clearly the best, Mage/maybe Rogue seem playable, other four seem not as good, though maybe Hunter's sees play in an odd deck?

Legendary Spells: Shaman and Priest seem bad, but the rest seem like they're varying degrees of good.

Classes/Decks I'm looking forward to playing: Rogue (bounce, deathrattle, steal), deathrattle priest, big hunter, divine shield paladin, mech warrior.

I really don't think you need the 'or fantastic' part of that rating. Hope there's at least a top tier animation once you actually pull it off, though. I'm certain either this card of Mechathun is going to turn out like the four horsemen and just be Hearthstone blue balls.

Successfully? I'm going to bed they can't do it. Not from any appreciable level. But you know there are going to be people trying from day 1.

And no, Star Aligner's probably not going to happen, but I'm just predicting someone finds something crazy that makes it work in a way that's not ludicrously impractical. Just like I figure someone's going to make Mecha'Thun work. (Actually, I think that will happen. It just won't be the primary strat for the deck.)

I'm already planning out my Mechathun deck. I'm going to make it work just like Shudderboar, aka it's going to win every fifth game and a third of them will actually be from the win condition I want.

I really think Whizbang would be a ton of fun if you got to discover a deck at the start of each game. You have to play with the inferior deck recipes still, but you get the option of choosing your deck after you see what class you're going up against.

The 10 card burgle card rogue is getting looks fun, but probably just not good in a Tess deck. Just like the echo burgle card.

I need to look at the paladins cards and see if Galvadon is getting another buff. He got huge one in both recent expacs, so hopefully he'll be the best paladin deck soon.

So I had a game as control warlock versus a bsm. Its a matchup I should be favored in. To make me even more favored I discovered rin off of stone hill and just got seals off super fast and azaried when she still had like 10 cards left. Still had Jaina though.

So Im winning even with Jaina and guldan Not drawn. She plays syndrogosa and a turn later PLAYS MORABI. Freezes my azari (which not been able to attack for several turns) and plays it the turn after. Killing my deck.

Im not sure how many games it took (I play almost exclusively on mobile now as it helps me focus and practice things like hand tracking) but I do know I hit the gold limits on both days. I know I lost like 7 in a row at one point but also ended the run winning 9 of 10.

Comment: Blizzard seems to be pushing this goblin bomb thing, but I don't think it's gonna work. You summon these leper gnomes that can't attack, and then have to trigger them. Yes, hunter can run a bunch of deathrattle triggers, along with the double deathrattle dude, but in the meanwhile, you can just punch them in the face. I think the goblin bomb tactic is only going to work in a control deck that doesn't have healing...and there aren't many of those.

(I'm not thinking there will be, TBH.)

Comment: I like Al'Akir. I don't like Zilliax as much. The Rush is only really useful if you're playing it naked, and as a naked card, a 3/2 rush with all those keywords for 5 probably isn't horrible, though I'd rather have it for 4. As a buff, though, giving a minion taunt, lifesteal, and divine shield could be incredibly brutal. The question is if 3/2 is the right distribution of stats. For the DS/LS, you'd want more attack. For the taunt, you'd want more life. 5 stats is equivalent to a 2-drop, so being that light on stats means you need to get real mileage out of those effects. At times this card could be amazing, but at others, I think it will come up short massively. I'm personally not in favor.
