I was pretty much heartbroken playing XBC2 during chapter 2 - how could they screw up Xenoblade so badly! So I get it when people give up on the game, don't give it a chance, or end up not really liking it even when they play the whole thing.
chapter 1 - fine
2 - awful
3 - so good
4 - mixed bag of great and not so good stuff
after that I think the game keeps getting better, with a few snags

If you want a good Xenoblade experience, XBC2 does sorta make you suffer through some stuff, but it's there. And like most any RPG, if the systems (skills, levels, items, etc) don't click for you, you will just not care for it. I liked 90% of the blade management, but sure, if I unlocked a skill and then found out I had to backtrack to kill 5 monsters that I had just got done killing dozens of, "ugh". There's another game design decision using blades that is pretty bad.

Sometimes I think XBC2 is a 7/10 game and I'm being generous and an apologist, sometimes I think it's a 9.5/10 game.

also XBC1 music is my favorite of the two, but, they are both A+

Not only did I drop XB2 because it's not nearly as good as the first one, but I simply did not care about leveling each blade and just focused on the ones I actively used while exiling the rest to the idle game missions.

once you get beyond their designs and the gacha stuff, the blade stuff in XBC2 is really strong imo. the quests, the combat, managing them, their roles in the story/setting etc.

Whats up with the Xenoblade 3 girl with the small bird wings on the back of her head? They look silly and theres no way those small things let her fly or anything. I dont think Ive ever seen anyone put wings on a characters head before.

they came up with major aspects of 3 before they started 2 so it will be interesting to see. If you can stomach chapter 2 and parts of 4 then I think the back half of 2 is really good, gacha be damned.

Hine Rare - maybe my fave vsop

I'm not great at describing bands/albums but...

Lake of Tears is a gothic metal band - a lot of doom elements and a lot of melodic elements. Forever Autumn is fairly easy to listen to, has some catchy riffs and some sentimental stuff. They have faster paced stuff for sure. If you like various rock genres, there's definitely something in their catalog for you. I picked a somewhat sappy song because I like it. 45 mins

Green Carnation - I'd call them progressive rock with a bit of riff heavy doom elements from time to time, but this album is generally fairly chill with the riffs. These guys are great and thoughtful though I would say their songwriting probably isn't for everyone. Again I picked a sappy song, this one about growing up. 43 mins

Opeth - one of the big progressive death metal bands, they released this album with all clean vocals. I enjoy how haunted the whole album sounds. In my late 20s this was a good "sitting in my room thinking about stuff" album. Maybe one of my top 10 all time albums. 43 mins

I picked two lesser known albums - the sort of bands I was grateful for having recommended to me. And then Opeth in case people just want something they already know. My original three were easier/bigger albums but then some tragedy and was feeling a bit more introspective I guess.

Speaking of Luke, I have a question to ask regarding The Last Jedi. Is the idea supposed to be that Yoda's force spirit acts like a troll because that's genuinely how Luke knew him?

TBH it's mostly how vindictive and spiteful a lot of people who hate TLJ act that really stands out. The movie has genuine problems, yeah, but you can't declare it terrible just because it isn't what you wanted.

Guild Wars 2, WoW and Diablo 2. Probably followed by a bunch of FPS games and then something like Clash Royale lol

I'm happy with all the CG characters, they aren't perfect but I'm fine with it. I feel like the CG is less jarring (for me) than a re-cast.

PSP actually did quite well, it was just eclipsed by the incredible success of the DS.

As for handhelds in general, I think everyone - even Nintendo - sees the writing on the wall. Consumers are ok having multiple dedicated gaming devices under their TVs, but no one wants another gizmo in their pockets aside from their phones. Doesn't Nintendo have quite a few mobile games now?

That said, the Switch Lite is sort of a portable, but I think moreso it functions as an in-home handheld console. Sort of what the Wii U tried to advertise itself as. I'm having trouble explaining but it feels like the Switch Lite belongs in the space that tablets/phones carved out more so than previous handheld systems. Not sure what my point is but anyway the Switch is terrific
